I'm genuinely curious to see how people on here think the season will go. It's probably a little tough to give an honest answer not knowing how the summer window will end up but what do you guys think is most likely to happen? Another top 4 battle? Maybe we start off good and carry on from there? Another terrible season like last year? I personally think we will be in another fight for top 4 and it will be tough but I say we make it in the end.

Thoughts?

Depends on our transfer business. Arsenal have the better manager and strikers but lost Ramsey. Chelsea lost one of the best players in world. With a superior transfer budget you would think we would be favorites for fourth but I expect us to mess it up and go into the new season with issues from last season.

My expectations are that we comfortably qualify for the ucl if Ole has the team playing like it did in his first two months. Trophies I expect us to win the Europa

Honestly I expect us to finish 5th or 6th again and for this malaise to continue into next year.

It has nothing to do with Solskjaer or Pogba or... Darmian, it's that we totally lack direction. Even if Ole does provide some rhythm I expect it to take longer than a few months.

Hopefully we can at least play some entertaining football during this period.

Top 6 will be good result since I'm expecting to finish 7th or 8th.

I dont get all this pessimism honestly. As posters above have pointed out, Arsenal dont have any money, Chelsea lost their best player, their manager AND cannot sign anybody potentially. Tottenham have a new stadium to pay for, so dont expect them to shell out a whole lot either. Can't honestly expect us to fight for the title, but the top 4 should be a breeze bar a catastrophe.

If this summer doesn’t go right and we add very little reinforcements and keep disgruntled high earners, I fully expect a meltdown by Christmas. Bottom 10 type stuff.

He inspired no confidence in these players after the shine wore off, and if the season starts that way (hardly a big if considering the most recent two months of evidence) it will be ugly. Call it pessimism if you want.

Think we'll get 4th. Chelsea will drop, Arsenal more or less the same, think we'll improve.

We have a clueless manager, who thinks that bringing English players will solve anything, despite our worse players are English one (Young, Smalling, Lingard, Jones)...
We have a clueless manager, who promises fast transfers, yet Real is already armed and we do nothing (who the feck is James?)
We have a clueless manager, who keeps bad players in the first squad, despite their notorious flops (De Gea, Young).

I think that 5th place is maximum if we start playing football. If our games are gonna look like end of season I predict place around mid-table.

No expectations at all with this squad, unless we start to buy real players and play normal football.

Honest predictions....

Summer Window
We lose Pogba,DDG and Lukaku along with shifting a bit of deadwood.... probably just Darmian and Rojo of the more renowned names. We replace DDG reasonably (Onana). Lukaku,so so (ben yedder, dembele, someone like that). Pogba, terribly. The one common theme will be replacing each with someone costing 50% of the price. The rest,we know where it's going. We'll buy a RB and nothing else.

Season itself
Shocking. Our first ten games will see us win around four. A couple pf heavy losses perhaps. Pressure on Ole almost immediately. Bad atmosphere around the club+OT. By Christmas, the rumours are flying and by January Ole is fired with us around 12th. Carrick and McKenna take over, while Ed briefs the media about due diligence and a DOF.

We stutter along and finish around 9th.

We could finish anywhere really. Pogba gets sold and no signings are made and theres a crap atmosphere around the club at the start of the season which leads to a few losses on the bounce and we could finish bottom half of the table. Or we could get a few wins to start the season and bumble along finishing 4th somewhat comfortably, primarily due to others being bad. Or anything in between.
Cant see us finishing that close to City or Liverpool even with a good transfer window. Getting close to Spurs would frankly be a decent achievement (feck thats grim).

I expect us to fight for top 4 and miss out again in the end. Could very well revise if we do some serious business, the kind only Real, City and PSG seem to manage, so not a big chance to get my hopes up.

I'll be more optimistic. Pogz and De Gea stay and we acquire AWB and Bruno Fernandes. Young is carbonized like Han Solo in the Empire Strikes back. Ole gets them playing fast attacking football and pressing properly. Chelsea are shit without Hazard and Arsenal are Arsenal. i can see us battling for 2nd place with Liverpool. Meh not horrible. Then the next season we get Sancho.

I'd be disappointed to miss out on top 4.

With Chelsea losing Hazard and Arsenal seemingly unable to add genuine quality, it's there for the taking.

That said, I'd be more surprised if one of Wolves, Leicester or Everton don't break into the top 6. A top 4 of City, Pool, Spurs and Wolves isn't a million miles off.

Winning against lower/mid table teams would be a start of a road to some kind of consistency... or is it still too much to ask ?

Honestly, I think we'll go into next season with a first team along the lines of:

De Gea
AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
---- McTom/Fred - - Matic - - Pogba
---- Lingard -- Rashford - - Martial

I think we need more in the way of additions but don't think we'll get them. We'll be far more solid at the back but struggle again for fluidity and goals up top.

A decent amount of minutes for the likes of Greenwood / Garner / Chong & James, none of whom cement a starting place.

No idea who'll leave beyond Lukaku.

Europa: Semis
League Cup: Quarter finals
Fa Cup: Semis
PL: 5th

Ole kept on for 20/21 with a similarly frustrating summer, sacked towards the end of the season.

On the other hand with a couple more big additions I think we'll get 3rd and a good shout at a trophy. We've got some great players who just need to be knitted together into a functional unit, a bit of a leadership injection.

Trying to maintain 6th, and hoping the clubs below us have a bad transfer window so we aren't in a battle from 6th-8th.

Top 4 is out of the question, imo, whilst Ole has to completely rebuild the club, likely with young prospects and a lot of talent leaving.

League winners. 114 points. 500 goals scored, 0 conceded. Rashy to be league top scorer with 300 goals and JLingz with 400 assists.

Football's easy when you have top players...

As long as we sort our transfers out then it should be an easy top 4 place.

I would have said I'd expect another energetic good start which will slowly fade but i reckon due to delayed signings we'll end up playing the same shite as last year.

Not getting champions league has really affected us in the transfer market this summer. We could of had a good chance at Sancho and De ligt but instead struggling and signing championship players. Top 6 again unless anything changes with our transfers. The only positive will be hopefully glazers will piss off if we come outside top 4 again.

We need to be doing what Marid have been doing but right now it is only James. Pre season begins at start of July so how many we get by then will determine how far we will go. We need as many new players for pre season as possible. We also need to be getting rid of half the trash we have, those players that cannot be bothered, pogba lingard etc. If we buy 5 or 6 and shift 4, i reckon 4th or maybe 3rd is possible. If we slug it out again, 7th is possible as Wolves and Leicester are better teams than us.

Between 5th and 8th. Scrapping it out with the likes of Wolves, Leicester and Everton.

Hope I'm wrong. Like to see a good style of football next season.

I don't know how to explain, but I think Man United is always the one who challenging for Top 4 no matter how good/bad they play, I think this is what we call a big club mentality. same things happen to both Milan, no matter how bad they are in previous season, next season they always be the favorite top 4 team.

People always fancy Man United in the top 4 over Spurs or Arsenal.

I've been watching United for over 22 years now and I have to say this is the first time I'm genuinely not looking forward to the season. I mean, what exactly is there to look forward to? City setting more points records? Liverpool going from strength to strength? Europa fecking league? United stuttering to 6th again?? Christ on a fecking bike

I could see us finishing anywhere from 4th to 8th.

I expect 6th again though. Don't expect anything next season.

Would love to be completely wrong.

Top 4.

Chelsea can't buy anyone, lost Hazard and are about to appoint a manager a new manager.

Arsenal have £50m to spend, lost Ramsey and have a worse defence than we do.

Tottenham won't spend over £80m on new players and will most likely lose Eriksen.

Only Liverpool and City will have better squads than us come August. I fancy our chances.

I think we will finish 6th again and will be looking for a new manager. Cycle continues.

Seeing the fixtures come out. I would wait to see what transfer business we do by the end of this month I would fancy a cheeky £100 at 23-1 to win the league. I dont see why we cant win our opening 7 games.

Dont judge me

The bare minimum will hopefully be (even without any new signings) is Ole gets them fitter and we return to something like the form we displayed in his first 3 months at the club. If we do that then we've got a chance of a Top 4 finish

While I'm not hopeful fingers crossed for 2 or 3 more signings to improve the quality in the team which will obviously help. We're further away than ever for any kind of title challenge though so anyone who has those expectations needs to get them out of their head pronto
