What are waiting for? Buy this kid.
I think the clubs priority signing is Longstaff. I think they might be waiting to see if the Newcastle takeover collapses to see if we can land him then. What are waiting for? Buy this kid.
Like Carrick? His best position and where he spends most of time is on attacking half between the midway line and box. His defensive contributions are a bit light compared to his attacking focus.
He's a great prospect, no doubt...but we need a deep passer and controller more. Can he do that role? Probably. Is that his best fit? Probably not.
We need someone like Carrick and I don't think he is it.Like Carrick?
I'd buy the fecker, close the deal now before someone else snaps him up. It's not like we loads of quality midfielders. I also like his attitude. He's got some balls on him.I think the clubs priority signing is Longstaff. I think they might be waiting to see if the Newcastle takeover collapses to see if we can land him then.
I think we have genuine interest in Van de Beek but I'd say so do many other big clubs.
Agreed. Really like him. Great attitude and engine on him in addition to his quality and versatility.I'd buy the fecker, close the deal now before someone else snaps him up. It's not like we loads of quality midfielders. I also like his attitude. He's got some balls on him.
We have nothing to lose getting him for a 'reasonable' fee now. He'll be costing way more in a couple of seasons if we let him go elsewhere.
Agree on that. He is not Carrick. Would still be useful given his versatility, functional technique, movement and extremely quick perception/decisionmaking.We need someone like Carrick and I don't think he is it.
Agreed, I have a feeling this boy will be a huge hit in England over BrunoThis is my #1 midfield signing now.
Not because of his quality and versatility which is obvious but he looks like a bit of a mad bastard and one of the few midfield leaders around.
Also seemingly wants to be here.
How so? He was quality for Ajax this season and one of their better performers against top teams in the CL. Been discussed on here for months and months now. Quality player who can basically play any role in central midfield. This is like flavor of the week now.
I'm not questioning his ability. I just happened to find out that everyone's dream signing changes on a per week basisHow so? He was quality for Ajax this season and one of their better performers against top teams in the CL. Been discussed on here for months and months now. Interest has obviously peeked here since he mentioned us randomly as a preferred destination but then why wouldn’t it.
He played as a no.10 last year and was an important part of a very good side. Think that was the first time he’d been deployed there though and he’s said to be highly versatile, which is the impression you get when watching him.Where does he usually play? Central midfield (i.e box to box) or attacking midfield?
Van de Beek was not a starter for Ajax at the start of the season and was whining about leaving right away. In all honesty, it was a weird choice for ten Hag to start with Ajax the way he did, but nonetheless van de Beek was not in the first 11 and did not waste time to let it be know he was not pleased with that. How so? That was because he struggled initially in the SS role he was deployed. That's normal for any player deployed out of his comfort zone. Not only was he deployed as a SS but he was utilised behind a false 9 striker. How does that work? He would have to play as a striker for such to work. He already mentioned how he had to train hard and improve some part of his game tactically to fit into the role required. Any other young player would have given up hope the moment he got deployed out of his comfort zone.Van de Beek was not a starter for Ajax at the start of the season and was whining about leaving right away. Van de Beek is a nice talent but I do not see him getting to a level that we would need to get back to the top. He will be closer to Davy Klaassen 2.0 in regards to his level than to a world class midfielder. Everything fell into place for Ajax later in the season, and as a result most players were able to overperform. For some players, I believe there is a huge risk that they will turn out to be a lot less than thought as soon as you pull them away from the current Ajax team.
I would pass on him. Ajax will request way to much money for him as they are all overvalued now, and he has not shown enough to realisticly believe he will improve us right away. Looking at players like this is a bit of a sign of panic to me.
We need to sign a higher quality and I rather see us actually give our top youth players a chance as back up than to sign a player like van de Beek who will costs a boatload and still has a long way to go.
So he comes to United and plays where exactly? That was because he struggled initially in the SS role he was deployed. That's normal for any player deployed out of his comfort zone. As a matter of fact, without Van de Beek operating as a SS to provide the presence and movement behind Tadic, Ajax wouldn't have gone far. An Ajax fan made mention of this when it was asked that Van de Beek should be returned to the midfield role.
He's no Klassen though. Van de Beek already outshone Klassen when he was just 19/20 yrs old while playing as a no 8 or CDM. He also outshone Schone. He was always Ajax's best player everytime I watched them before he got moved to the no 10 role this season.
How many talents do Ajax have? He's one of these talents because he's an integral part of Ajax team. Without him, Ajax's CL semi final wouldn't have happened. Besides, this was a player who outshone Klassen and Schone at the age of 19yrs old.I did like him but after watching him more. He’s clearly the player benefiting from good talent around him. Basically he’s average! Stay clear.

As a central midfielder. That's his best position. I have watched many times as a central midfielder against Nice twice, Standard Liege, Manutd in the Europa final match etc and he looked far above his teammates on the pitch everytime I have seen him.So he comes to United and plays where exactly?
I dunno, mate. While I agree that a few of the Ajax lads may well flatter to deceive elsewhere, Van De Beek definitely is not one of those.Van de Beek was not a starter for Ajax at the start of the season and was whining about leaving right away. This.I did like him but after watching him more. He’s clearly the player benefiting from good talent around him. Basically he’s average! Stay clear.
He also benefitted from his scrappy team mates when he created several chances and even scored goals against Nice, Standard Liege etc and looked head and shoulders above the rest of his teammates who looked bang average in the game? This.
He benefits hugely from the creativity all around him at Ajax. He will do nothing for United.
I'm not saying he's bad. I love vd Beek, but he does need creativity around him and United currently doesn't have that. You see the same thing at our national team where there is very little creativity going forward. Donny is great at exploiting space created around him via fluid attacking play. Take that away and there's not a lot left in my opinion. He also benefitted from his scrappy team mates when he created several chances and even scored goals against Nice, Standard Liege etc and looked head and shoulders above the rest of his teammates who looked bang average in the game?
Where do you think Ajax would have been without his performance against Juventus and in the match that got them their league trophy. That was despite playing as a SS behind a false 9 striker.
He needed creativity yet created several chances as a central midfielder Vs standard Liege, Nice while his teammates couldn't finish those chances apart from looking bang average in the game?I'm not saying he's bad. I know however, that you don't share this opinion
I don't think he looks similar to Muller because he's not even a SS to begin with. He's a bit like Thomas Müller. We need players like him here even if it's just for the mentality.
