Surprised the thread hasn't been updated.

Since the manager left Dybala has said recently he wants to stay at the club and Juve have said they want to keep him.

I dont understand why we would be after him, he has a name and would be very expensive. I've watched him play maybe 10 times this season and he's been very underwhelming in my opinion.

Why do People want him? What does he bring to the team?

Just checked his stats and he has 4 assists this season and 5 goals.

And does the People who really wants him ever actually seen him on more than a couple of oaccasions?

Is it based on FM/Fifa or what?

I know he had a very good season last year, but hasnt really followed up at all

In thread Lukaku replacement i wrote i would drop a CF for a more free attacking playmaker like Felix. And i think a free Dybala can be a good option too. Like this.

Sancho/Pepe - Kante - Pogba - Martial

Felix/Dybala

Rashford/Martial/Greenwood

Sancho/Pepe as new RW and

Felix or Dybala as new free AMC, a free nr.10 playmaker who can both set up chances and score goals as well. Both of Felix and Dybala has show they can do it both. Special Felix i have a strong feeling he is really good in the build up playing and set up chances from the centre of field. And on the wide sides you have wingers. So you have many ways to come to chances, not only from the wingers. Felix is a classic nr.10 playmaker.

When looking at his stats did you not notice he scored 23, 19 and 26 goals in his previous three seasons?

What stats won't tell you is he played in the middle before and then this season just gone a player called Cristiano Ronaldo went to Juve and Dybala was pushed out wide

Not sure why this is still going, this thread should be quiet. I would love him here, but he will stay for another year there to see how it goes now that Allegri is gone and a new manager might get the best out of him by having him link up centrally.

Yeah, this potential move is dead in the water unfortunately.

My opinion was by watching him. And he has been underwhelming everytime. But I've seen his stats from prior seasons and they are very very good. Him changing position might be the issue then after Ronaldo came.

It may make it easier to get him here if thats the case.

Do we think Dybala could play as the main striker or does he have to be playing behind someone?

I think he clearly needs a main striker in front of him. Dybala is not a winger neither a main striker. He needs to be in the attacking midfield center like Ronaldo, James, Müller, Felix and Havertz.

You've looked at his stats for one season in his career where clearly he had issues with the club/had his position disrupted by Ronaldo's arrival.

People probably want him because they believe that his true level is higher if he's at a club where he's in his proper position and feels valued, which can be backed up by this previous very good 3 seasons in Italy.

Best false 9 we could hope to sign. Could also play off another CF. I hope that if Juve are stupid enough to sell him we'll do everything we can to sign him.
Even he had a bad season, he has proved to be a talented player seasons before. So, he would be a great signing. If Juventus want to buy Chiesa, maybe there's a small chance
for us to get him. Do you rate Dybala as the best false 9 compared with Griezmann and Felix?

Why as a false 9? What is the obsession with this? They all play off of a centre forward. If Dybala was adaptable enough to operate without having a teammate to lead the line and play off, he would have found a way for it to work with Ronaldo last year. He didn’t and was dropped.

You need a proper tactical setup for a false nine to work. You can't just drop a playmaker in the CF spot and expect him to perform. There's more to it. Dybala principally has the skillset to play that role, the question is if he's good enough to build your team and tactic around him. It's much easier to just take a player like Dybala and place him next to a true nine.

His problem is that Cristiano needs a classic striker to play around, too. Someone who's good with the back to the goal and willing to open up space he can make his runs into. You can obviously only have one second striker and pressing two i to one formation won't really woek. Dybala's still an extraordinary player, would be a great signing for whichever club getting him.

Definitely better than Felix. Not sure about Griezmann. I would prefer Dybala though.

Allegri’s tactics last season have been discussed ad nauseum in this thread.

Allegri and false 9.

What’s your point? I feel like I keep reading about us needing a ‘false nine’ type of striker and the names mentioned for it have never played as the main centre forward. I just don’t think it’s particularly clever to be expecting players like Dybala, Griezmann or Felix to lead the line.

Being that we have wide forwards in Martial and Rashford who need service if they’re to kick on and we played Lingard as a false 9 numerous times last season, I think it’s a fair and reasonable hope.

I would prefer we sign Haller though.

I wouldn’t describe the central role Lingard played at times as a false nine role at all. He would typically be expected to track and press the opposition’s deepest midfield player, with the two forwards trying to take up balanced positions between the full back and centre half on their side. 4-3-1-2/ 4-1-2-1-2/ 4-4-2 diamond - whatever you want to call it he was playing off the forwards in an advanced midfield position.

Were you to bring Dybala into that setup I don’t think there’s quite an ideal position for him, but the right forward role would be more suitable. He would benefit from a more traditional setup for the forwards in that shape, as opposed to the quite deliberate and exaggerated one left-sided and one right-sided that we used. Same with Griezmann.

Neither Rashford nor Martial are going to kick on from a typical starting wide right position. Martial is similar to Dybala in how static they are in possession - the only movement with any regularity that they provide is in coming towards the ball, so Dybala wouldn’t be particularly great for Martial. Rashford is a pretty good compliment to either of them.
