We're desperately in need of a starter RW.

I don't know how people can be happy with just James. Even his best games came on the left! :nervous:

Greenwood is a young kid so shouldn't be relied upon yet. He needs to come into a stable team ideally.

To go into next season with just James/Mata/Lingard as RW options would be criminal wouldn't it?
Yes it would - how many seasons has it been now?

The fact is - alot of fans may talk about how average our players are like Martial & Rashford when playing off the left or Centre - but they play in a clearly lopsided attack where all the opposition defence have to do is play a lopsided defence to block them off.

Forget players ability - at Liverpool when Salah is blocked off then Mane gets tonnes of free space and vice versa. Its actually starting to make me feel sorry for 4-5 players that can play at LW because we don't have a single RW to widen or even distract their defenders.

I've seen plenty of links to Liverpool now and all I can say is it would be criminal of us to let him end up there when they already have the best wingers in the league on each side. With Sancho not coming in imo we must make this a high priority signing. Our right side is so bad I want to puke.

His stats are inflated by penalties. He scored 11 penalties I think. What I can say he's quite agile, very very agile but technically, he's not the best. He's got good pace but seems to slow down while he's on the ball. He's a cunning player also. I saw him often lift up the ball against opponent's hand and before it even hit him, he's already screaming for a penalty.

For a cheap price, I won't mind but anything above 35 mil, I will pass.

He also won the vast majority of them. Also as a wide forward his scoring record minus the pens was also very good, also count his assists.

We should close the shop if we aren’t going hard for this guy and Liverpool gets him.

He somewhat reminds me of Mahrez. Not Sane-esque fast but good close control and left foot.

Really don't see how this guy is worth £70m and I can't see Klopp getting him to track back like Mane and Salah and do the defensive work. He is atrocious at tracking back and helping out the team. He loses the ball a lot and is very individualistic.

I don't see Liverpool spending so much on him. I feel Klopp will want to spend on backup fullback positions and backup GK as well which won't make sense spending so much alone on him.

How many times has he played in it?
Does that really matter? If you're going to make the next step in your career, you want to experience the CL right away and not come into a rebuild project.

I don't believe Pepe is good enough as a winger in the long term. His dribbling ability isn't good enough and neither is he as pacey as i'd like. Would be a improvement on Lingard but that shouldn't be a criteria for a potential incoming Man United transfer.

If possible we should be trying for Federico Chiesa who is the superior player but looks Juventus bound.

Im not so sure now. The Cancelo rumours are due to them needing to sell, apparently. Chiesa has a 3 year deal at Fiorentina, they’ll want big money for him if he does leave. More like prem kinda money... Get on it Woody!

Di Marzio reported that Juventus had agreed personal terms with the player and only a transfer fee with Fiorentina was left to sort out.

Chiesa for me is a no brainer and the best RW we could sign not named Sancho. I'd hope we over pay if we could sign him.

Yeah, I’m just very sceptical they’ll be able to agree a fee they can actually pay. There’s no way Fiorentina sells their best player with some dodgy structured deal. I think Fiorentina have new top brass as well.

I agree, he’s versatile as well and could play the false nine role, lingard player as well. I just wonder if we’re going to put all our eggs in the Sancho basket for next year.

I'd sign Chiesa this season and Sancho the following season to play either wing tbh.

Good player, but nothing special. Pretty much same category as Malcolm, Douglas Costa and Shaqiri. No wonder his club is aggressively offering him like it´s sale out.

I know you can't judge someone from youtube clips but seeing his assists and goals makes.me feel we should be after this lad. He reminds me of young robben(not surprised bayern were after him). I would seriously break the bank for him.

How much will he cost? If it's around 40mil, I will like us to get him and turn him into a striker if Lukaku leaves. He's got one of the best off the ball movement out there.

It would be stupid to depend on Rashford as our only striker next season.

That has nothing to do with it, Lille doesn't come across special players very often and they see him as a good financial boost for their budget. They know there isn't much more they can offer him.

I cannot believe the lack of interest shown by you guys. He’s basically the left footed Mane who plays on the right!

We signed Dan James, don't see Ed buying another winger this year.
The lack of rumours surrounding other wingers is worrying. If we go into the season with Mata and Lingard as our options on the right wing we are in trouble.

Oh we are busy giving mata 2plus 1 year deal on 140k and running after an target like Sancho who don't even want to move and will cost the same as Felix.

Who would be more expensive between Pepe and Chiesa, and who do you rate as the better player?

We don't have the budget to buy another winger. That's the only real reason Mata was signed up. So Ed believes he got our RW sorted with Lingard, Mata, Greenwood. I don't see any more RW incoming.
We have to spend 100+m to sort our defences and then another 50+m midfielder to replace Herrera. Unless we can sell Pogba to Juve/Real and get some exchanges in.

Mohamed Bouhafsi has now said that Liverpool are having 'concrete discussions' with Lille over the transfer of Pepe.
Apparently he's one of the most knowledgeable reporters within French football, I'm sure someone here knows more about his credentials than me.
If it's true, then it would be a brilliant signing and I'd back Klopp to get the best out of him

Wow..... Ndombele is going to Spurs, Pepe is going to Liverpool, Bruno is also being considered by Liverpool. This is so embarrassing.... Ole is such a liar.... We were supposed to do most of our business by July 1st and we've got Daniel James whose was brought in due to his potential and not to be a starter. Ole.... dude, you've ruined your legacy by managing United.

I don't think Ole can be blamed for anything that happens (or does not happen, as the case may be) this summer.

What's Ole got to do with this? It's Woodward's job you're talking about.

None of the deals you mentioned have been concluded yet. Bruno might go to Liverpool but his agent supposedly met with us and Spurs when he was here, no mention of Liverpool. Ndombele is interested in Spurs but Lyon want 90 million and Levy is simply not going to pay that. Good idea to not get too triggered by the clickbait headlines and as Infra-red said, Ole is not to blame for the glacial pace that Ed sets in negotiations.

We will probably have AWB this week and a good chance of 1 more and the 1st July deadline was a wish not a guarantee. Window will still be open until August 8th and so we may still make more signings, we cannot conclude all of our business until we know if Pogba and Lukaku are actually staying or going and those kind of deals, especially with Raiola involved, take time.
