This.I don't see any point in discussing a new RW.
We've signed Dan James and resigned Mata and are going to offer Lingard a bumper new contract. They can all "do a job"
There will not be a new RW signed.

I believe they feel that with James added to the mix and a stronger RB they can cover this position for 1 more year and then hopefully with CL secured next year we go back and get Sancho. If we had finished top 4 I believe Sancho would have been our first signing and so we are reluctant to commit big money right now when our first choice is likely to be there next summer. Sancho may even have given us assurances he will come in these circumstances although obviously that would be on the downlow. Why does the club insist on ignoring this position? it is the biggest hole in our team.
Well that's all well and good, but there is no guarantee that we are getting CL next season to lure him over anyway. And without attacking reinforcements (especially for the right wing) I am almost certain we won't get top 4 spot. We need a RW now and Sancho isn't the only one who can improve us. There may be some kind of agreement but if not then planning our rebuild around the idea a guy might maybe come next year feels like a big risk.I believe they feel that with James added to the mix and a stronger RB they can cover this position for 1 more year and then hopefully with CL secured next year we go back and get Sancho. It is definitely a risk but that still seems to be the thinking with the Sancho link just not going away. Of course we are now hearing that we may just throw everything at getting Sancho now if Pogba and Lukaku leave which I would be on board with. The combined fees we receive would cover the Sancho deal and probably allow us to make 2 CM signings such as Tielemans and Fernandes.Well that's all well and good, but there is no guarantee that we are getting CL next season to lure him over anyway. James plays mainly on the left, same as Sanchez. We've already got a lot of options at RW, sadly none are very convincing although I have high hopes for James
James
Lingard
Sanchez
Mata
Young
Dalot
Chong
Agree pretty muchJames plays mainly on the left, same as Sanchez.
Mata and Lingard are better through the middle/center.
Chong is not ready.
Dalot could be a cover, but he said he is a fullback.
And I don't want to see Young while our main rivals have Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Sane, Mane, Salah, Shaqiri, etc.
But I get your point, same happens with our defenders (Lindelof, Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Bailly, Tuanzebe), too many for 2 positions. Sadly, none are very convincing although I have high hopes for Tuanzebe.
Even with our midfielders, we don't want Matic, Fred, Mctominay or Pereira in the first eleven.
We need quality over quantity, but for now, is otherwise.
What a perfect illustration of the grand canyon-sized gulf in quality between us. Horrible. Why we didn't move for Mahrez last summer, I will never understand. The gulf would still be massive, of course, but slightly smaller.City have Sterling, Bernando Silva, Sane and Mahrez... While we Mata, Lingard, Daniel James and Martial.
We need at least one top winger. If we can't get Sancho. Then, Chiesa we should do out best to get Chiesa or even Pepe.
I don't see a starting RW in there. Mata and Lingard can do a job as 10s but not really out wide and James in his first year should surely be the backup winger coming on against tires defences and getting starts in cups, not first choice.I don't see any point in discussing a new RW.

Have we even bid for him? He's the player everyone wants. But have we? We did sign pogba and zlatan without CL football. I think if we wanted him we’d get him. Theres a difference between fans wanting a player and the board bidding for them.Seems to be some wierd delusion on here that Sancho is just going to suddenly want to come to us next season.
Aye, I mean I love the lad and think he's amazing and will be a top, top player. Which is why I think the only way we were ever going to sign him was to do it in this window when the top teams currently consider him as perhaps too risky. If he has another top season then I expect all the major powers to be after him and we simply cant compete right now. We just aren't an attractive enough proposition.Seems to be some wierd delusion on here that Sancho is just going to suddenly want to come to us next season.
Dalot is not a winger. We need to stop horseshoeing players into positions when they are not specialists. We need a quality RW... Pepe would be good and Lille are looking to sell.Id play dalot right wing with bissaka behind.
Don't we want Sancho? James and dalot can fill that position for a year.Dalot is not a winger. We need to stop horseshoeing players into positions when they are not specialists. We need a quality RW... Pepe would be good and Lille are looking to sell.
Major difference is we had Jose, who for all his flaws was a big draw and a well respected manager with a long list of achievements. Now we've just got Ole, and a team that looks a mess.Have we even bid for him? He's the player everyone wants. But have we? We did sign pogba and zlatan without CL football. This has been said every fecking year. Our RW has been devoid of quality since Valencia regressed in 12/13, absolutely goddamn useless. Facepalm.Bigger priority positions to fill, midfield and defence being those two positions.
But his last 2 seasons he's played left wing and as a striker. So dont expect him to perform the same as he does in other positionsI’d be interested to see if we could bring Zaha back. Our right side would be transformed. Ready made chemistry with AWB and becaus of the sell on clause it could be a prudent buy.
I would expect him to be an instant and massive upgrade on our right side over anything we currently have, regardless of where he was mainly positioned with palace. But his last 2 seasons he's played left wing and as a striker. So dont expect him to perform the same as he does in other positions
Probably but dont expect the same level as on the left and upfront where he has greatly enhanced his rep in the last 2 seasons. So we may have to pay for his value in other positions where hes been betterI would expect him to be an instant and massive upgrade on our right side over anything we currently have, regardless of where he was mainly positioned with palace.
