Great post. Every year there are a few cheapies that help steady the ship. Last year, AWB and Bennett were both 4.0 starters. This year, there seem to be absolutely none.

I'm always reluctant on promoted team players, usually championship form doesn't translate to premiere league. Sessegnon, Knockheart and Cairney are examples of this.

I won't touch Wilson with a barge pole. He has fecked me two seasons in a row

Annoyed that Jota and Delofeu are strikers. Makes their value not as important.
Yeah Deulofeu one is weird as always considered him a winger but according to whoscored he was a striker for 90% of his games last season. Ayoze Perez who i always considered a forward supposedly played most of his games at RM, so maybe that's where fantasy football is basing it off...

KDB very tempting. At his best he's a bargain at 9.5, an injury plagued last season being the only reason his price is this low. Plus he isn't working out it's easy to drop him for whatever 8m-ish is showing form.

Draft 1.5

Ederson
Robertson TAA WanB
Sterling Mane Milivojevic Perez
Jiminez Jota King

Button Diop Kelly Mendy
That's a scandalous poor front three brother. Two from wolves can't be a good idea

Tempted to put Giroud in for the time being.
He has such a criminally low points output though, for the team he plays for.

Now without pure irony to my next point, Rashy and Martial look decent value as it stands

Don't get me wrong - as I love the fantasy footy game - and we get ridiculous at work with a huge summary email every week..

BUT - end of June is a bit bloody early isn't it?!

Barely anyone has made a transfer yet!

To early to seriously start making a team, definitely. But, Oba Wan-Dhamaaka needed to be created to get a feel of FPL again.

They both have the potential to do well. Who would you choose over them?

Vardy will probably just beat them, but might suffer if Maddison moves.
The premiums aren’t all that. I’d rather have Mané and Sterling over Kane, especially at the start. Aguero the only real option there for me.
Wolves were quality last season and will hopefully improve (although not hopefully in the real world). They were especially good against teams that thought they could beat them, and they have a ‘tough’ start in that regard.

Keen to look at other options as obviously a long way to go, but quite happy with them at the mo.

You've answered for me really - I think an Aguero level striker, and him especially is essential.
Both for flexibility to switch to anyone who really is smashing it of a higher value, and for an extra captaincy choice.

From bitter experience last year, Jiminez wasn't a reliable captain.
Bournemouth lads were always hit n miss too - usually the one I didn't have out of Wilson and King smashed it.

Possibly yeah. I might end up with Aguero in there, but I reckon one of Mané or Sterling will do as well. Probably Sterling. Seems like his time to really shine.

I liked Jiminez a lot last season. Not a big hitter but felt very consistent. I didn’t have Wilson, King or Fraser last season and it cost me. King was the last person in my team and wasn’t really a choice as such, but seemed the best option. It’ll no doubt change!

Feels like they’ve done a proper job on trying to prevent bargains this year. Shame. Getting them in early is one of the best meta-games within the whole season.

Grealish could’ve been one. At 6 though it seems like it’s not quite worth the risk.

Don't get me wrong, I had Jiminez all season, but he tended to only get an assist or goal at most for the first half, and only started some double figures later on.
Not very safe captain, and Wolves would beat us, and then draw with some chumps at home.

Fraser completed my Wilson-King axis. Always had the wrong one at the wrong time. Usually not when one of the three got a 17 pointer!

True, but if they don't make any signings then he's literally their only option up front. Would probably get 10 goals.

Rashy actually is good value, especially if Lukaku goes.

feck Rashy. Had he got a single goal or assist in the last 8 or so games, I would have won my mini league

Ouch!
He had a hot streak of a few ten pointers early on in oles reign. But i cannot believe he was more than about 60% fit for the rest of the season after the pool game

Current team at:

Ryan
Dunk, Robertson, Digne
Mane, Zaha, Maddison, Sterling
Deulofeu, Kane, King

A bunch of subs that wont play... thoughts?

It often seems that way at this stage.
Then by week 2 there will be some stand out cheapies!

Robertson is very expensive this year.

And Salah strikes me as a better bet than Mane for only 1m more, unless they start with him in a more advanced position, which I wouldn't have thought they would.

Zaha looks a must have. But then I'd now include AWB for 5.5

Monitoring what Chelsea do up front - like the guy earlier said Giroud by default will have value if he's the starter - but will Abraham start instead?

Coleman vs Digne is debateable.

Otherwise looks solid, with the obvious caveat that all these teams will be made obsolete after a week or so of continued real life transfers.

Yes of course. Just needed something there so I'm not scrambling when I look at it the day before the season kicks off

Gonna have to monitor KDB in the pre-season.

I'm going to go 4-4-2 this season. Although I do prefer a 3-man defence usually, the £ per points is just too good for the better defenders.

Fabianski
Robertson-VVD-Laporte-Digne
Salah-Maddison-Zaha-Sigurdsson
Kane-Jota

Any comments?

Seems solid although I'd think about dropping Laporte to Pereira and upgrade VVD to TAA. More likely points from full backs than center backs.
