But he's a winger...

DDG
WBS Lindelof ?????Shaw
McTominay
Fernandes
Pogba
Olmo Rashford/Martial James

To be honest, this team doesn't inspire confidence or exude quality...
He actually plays more centrally and drifts out. And can play vice versa also.

He seems like the kind of player that will become world class in Pep's system. I'm surprised City is not in for him.

He's not winger. Could play in midfield three either side of holding midfielder, but never matic or jorginho type of role. Would be best as center of three attackers behind striker, but for Dinamo he had really good matches as CM, working in both directions with eye for killer pass into final third.

Either way, look at that team. Is that the team that Ole believes will get us top 4?
I agree, it doesn't look great. But I would like to see us sign Olmo. It would be a move towards a more technical team. But there's a lot of work to be done still

Probably not but I'm not really sure why we should believe that if we do sign him we will also buy Fernandes and play Olmo on the wing in a 4 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 3

He tore the right wing to shreds for Spain U21, and played that position for all of it. He might not play the right wing for Dinamo, but he's got the skill set to play there. He'd be a massive improvement for us on the right, and having that flexible option to play him centrally as well means we can still strengthen the right wing in the future with someone like Sancho.

I don't mind these youngsters (Olmo, Longstaff etc.) as backup players, but we need more established players for balance and experience (Fernandes, Saúl maybe?, etc.).

All gone very quite on this lad. I'm guessing it was to put pressure on Sporting for Bruno.

Olmo looks a very good talent though.

Checking transfrmarkt he has been deployed as an attacking midfielder more than a winger. Also lists him as playing in pretty much every position in the top half of the field at one point of another and from the few clips I watched he did seem to operate from a central position.

I don't think the papers have a clue by the looks of it. I doubt we'll sign many more now as we leave for pre season soon.
I reckon we'll sign 2 more. A CB and midfielder. Who they are? I really don't know.

Never seen him play live but just watching his YouTube highlights and he seems another Lo Celso type player. A hell of a lot of dribbling but not much end product, mostly gets fouled after holding the ball too long (in the clips I've seen). Had anybody seen him play regularly that can say how accurate this is?

@Adisa said we need "ballers" and not end product, effectively, but i don't entirely agree with that. I'd like to see goals and assists added to the team and not just one player that will try to evade every challenge until eventually he's fouled, which i fear is what this could be.

Don't get me wrong he looks a talented player but he doesn't seem to have a "killer instinct", so to speak. If we want quick attacks then we need to build a proper midfield now instead of add more players that see it as a challenge as to how long they can hold the ball, like Pogba seems to do.
You misunderstand me. I am not saying we don't need end-product. But imo, end-product is secondary when you have no control of games cause you can't sustain possession in important areas for any reasonable period of time. We need midfielders that can play. High energy players that can keep the ball under pressure and release it when needed. Doesn't mean I am asking for players like Pogba that keep it for too long. Our squad is lacking in technique and it is imperative that we add players blessed in that department, especially in midfield.

I've seen him enough to know he can play anywhere across attacking line. You're right about him playing RW for spain and being great, that's because he's intelligent player who'll adapt to any role in the team really, but his natural position and best place on the pitch is in the middle of it.

So let's say in two years time... how would Bruno Fernandes and Olmo be in front of McTominay be for a midfield 3?

Early on in the window it was said Ole was looking for a versatile forward, seems this player fits that bill. Can cover right wing while we wait on Sancho, but can also play in a midfield 3 or 4. Possibilities:
Martial Rashford Olmo
Pogba Bruno
Longstaff

Ben Yedder Rashford
Bruno
Pogba Olmo
Longstaff

Martial Rashford James
Pogba Olmo
Longstaff

Gives us good options, a good long term replacement for Mata/Lingard.

In the European sub 21 I liked a lot. He provided speed and power, very necessary in the team.
I would stand out his ball control, he dribbles and seems versatile.
Spain played 4-2-3-1. Del Olmo on the right, Ceballos in the center and Fornals on the left.
However, in one section of the game he replaced Oyarzabal as fake 9 (scoring a goal) and later Fornals after his substitution.
He wasn't out of place in any of those positions.
I think some of you, in the teams that you propose, situate him too far from the area.
When I read that the Croatian team wanted to incorporate him I thought that his family would be Croatian.
I did not believe the decision to leave the Masía and go to the Croatian league. I
say it without acrimony but as an example of the desire to be professional.
The two times he spoke at a press conference he seemed like a smart kid who stressed the importance of work.
For 30.,40 or 50 million I think he is a good bet, and certainly many clubs will be behind him.

I'm guessing there wasn't really much in this link?! Not heard anything credible since original story.

Yeah, not optimistic about this one. Seems like one of those many random links we have every summer.

Would be great if we’d never even heard of him then after the links the club thought actually he’d be a great signing.

Get him in!

I watched him in three games during the Spain U21 victory, had never heard of him before to be honest so its only thre games, internationals and U21 as well to be fair so can take this with a pinch of salt.
I thought he looked an excellent player and surprised he was playing in Croatia, really good technically, good on the ball dribling, aware.....but he looked out of position to me, he looks like yet another number 10 which we really dont want to sign again unless we are totally changing our system. Kagawa, Mata etc etc, talented young player, but please no....we have signed a great one in Bissaka but the laast month or so we seem to be getting linked with so many wrong young talents in my opinion

According to Deportivo Mundo, Spurs have offered 25m euros for him. No idea if this is true.

They’ve either moved to this lad due to the Lo Celso price or using it to drop the Lo Celso price.

Transfermarkt probably isn't a great way to figure out where they play since they only collect very basic info. Whoscored is a bit better because you can look at individual match details although of course the diagram only shows where they started the game which can be misleading. From the actual footage I've seen of him he looks equally comfortable in the middle or on the flanks, largely because he's both technically good and he's quick.

Are Tottenham making up for lost time by signing every midfielder in existence?

Maybe the selling club leaked to local journos that a big English club they were unwilling to name was in for him and the journos chose a big english club's name at random to fill in the blanks in the story. A little later on they realised it was spurs and not United.

If Spurs get him for that cheap, kuddos to them.

We’d rather pay the inflated fees for English talent ‍♂
