Many thanks for the heads up. Yep might be good for others to assess him watching games highlights. He looks very lively and assured in this game causing problems for the Real midfield.
That backheel pass near Modrić was sexy.

Plus, he knows how turn with the ball and not lose it, something our midfielders do not.

Especially the all magnificent PP.

Just watched his highlight reel.

It'd be interesting watching him thats for sure. It's not so often you see somebody with great dribbling play through the middle.

Exceptional dribbling ability
Very good passing and through balls
A serious goal threat
Hard working though to play in a 3 man midfield
Versatile. He can play CM, AM or even as a forward
Having watched him and Betis a lot you are spot on.

Whoever signs him, regardless of the price, is getting an excellent player. His passing for those concerned is very good, too, so don't worry about that.

He reminds me of David Silva will be very pleased if we got him. With lots if good midfield options available I think it's time to move on from an unhappy Pogba, and I think him and Bruno can replace the goal threat and creativity we need.

Why? Is it scouts responsibility to write transfer news?
It is the scouts job to find players that will do well for the team.. not a scatter gun approach.
When was the last time a scout brought a player to Utd and was a great find? It seems the scouts are taking the easy option of profiled players.

How do you know scouts didn't find any player? Their job is not signing players, their job is to scout players and prepare reports. It's recruitment team (manager, chief scout, woodward) decision whether to sign them or not.

At best they can recommend players, not force club to sign them.

This. A lot of people try to exonerate those at the helm of affairs at our club even when they do not show enough passion towards our recovery to limelight.

Is the general gist of this that we want that Firpo as well as Lo Celso?
Yeah, they want 80m for both in order to fund sales. Tottenham could buy Lo Celso on his own, but we’re interested in doing a double deal for both.

Sounds interesting. Any idea if the source is reliable? Looks a bit questionable.

They look Andalusian based, so hard to say. They would definitely have links to the club, whether we’re being used as a bargaining tool for spurs on Lo Celso and Firpo - your guess is as good as mine!

The Lo Celso to Spurs rumours and stories picking up pace again. It might be there's a good chance of this one happening, but who knows.

from where? I only saw sky’s one saying you’ve put it on hold because of the price.

Well, some of the information/rumours/stories (what ever you care to call them) don't come from media outlets. But some do … for example:

* Transfer to Tottenham is 80% complete, according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/betis/2019/07/03/reunion-triana-celso/232486.html

* Super Agent Works On Giovani Lo Celso To Tottenham Hotspur Deal: http://www.insidefutbol.com/2019/07...ni-lo-celso-to-tottenham-hotspur-deal/427382/

thanks, seems like all the links are coming out of Spain, like with the Olmo links. Like I said in the Olmo thread, you’re getting one or the other. I would hazard a guess it’s you trying to get the price down.

I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't happen, but I agree that Pochettino might well be very keen.

According this report, we want both: https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futb...je-de-dani-olmo-y-luego-ira-por-lo-celso.html

" … Tottenham … approached positions with Real Betis for the transfer of Giovani Lo Celso, which already It has raised its initial offer to 68 million euros, close to 75 required by Betis to let the Argentine go.

Before specifying the signing of Lo Celso, however, Tottenham certainly close the end and midfielder Dani Olmo, who last Sunday was proclaimed European champion under 21 with Spain and for which the Spurs are offering 25 million euros to Dinamo de Zagreb, club with two years remaining on the contract. Negotiations with the Croatian club and Juanma Lopez, representative of the player, have advanced significantly in the last hours and are close to conclude satisfactorily …"

I highly doubt you are spending £150m on 3 midfielders. Unless you’ve got an absolute packet for Eriksen. Which might be the case.

Lo Celso is obviously being lined up to replace Eriksen. If the Lo Celso deal is on hold then Real may not be making a move for Eriksen this summer which seems to be what he was counting on. It's hard to imagine they'll be signing pogba and eriksen considering what they've already spent this window. They don't seem to be getting big offers for the players they want to sell so there has to be a finite limit to what they can spend.

Maybe Levy has gone mad under relentless pressure from Pochettino? Or maybe he's keeping a bumper deal for stadium naming rights under his hat?

Spurs doing well to refresh their central midfield which was going a little stale especially when you see Wanyama starting big CL games. Potential trio of Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso looks very exciting and you have likes of Dier as back up.

I'd argue Spurs maybe need to freshen up their full back options aswell (certainly the right side options) but pretty good start to the transfer window after being inactive last 18 months.

Maybe he saw Spurs get to the champions League final, spunked his knickers and now he's gone all Ridsdale.

I'll be honest, I'd be a little worried about this signing.

Not seen all that much of him, but from what I have seen he's clearly very talented but also can be equally frustrating. I feel like with both him and Ndombele we'd have two players who love running at opponents but maybe we would be a little unbalanced. It's also pretty clear if we sign him that we'd be selling Eriksen, and whilst I'd like Lo Celso as an option I really wouldn't be fully sold on him as a direct replacement for Eriksen .. seems a lot of weight on his shoulders.

But on the flip side we have a couple of Argentine players already in the squad and an Argentine manager which could really help him settle and grow, and he is undoubtedly a really exciting player.

I agree with all of this, while a little worried I am also massively excited, if we sign GLC and manage to get Ceballos in on loan with an option to buy, we have so many options going forward.
