I thought it would be better to start a new thread for Herrera to discuss his PSG performances.

So, Rabiot left for Juve and I'm wondering if Herrera is intended to replace him or just for squad depth. Either way PSG are slightly more likable now as Ander is gentleman and a scholar.

They were playing Marquinhos and Dani Alves in midfield last season in the CL games against us.

Marquinhos will go back in defence, and Ander will replace him. They'll still need another midfielder though.

I'd imagine he'll be a squad player like he was for us (mostly)

Good luck for him. My most favorite and likeable United player of the past few years and he's now gone.

If he is a nothing player, then god knows what some of the others are. I am sure Herrera does not care what this chap says as he is now in Paris, in a nice house/apartment, earning lots of money for a CL contender who thought he was worth signing on.

I can understand if anyone says we can do better, sign better player who has good passing range and all that but calling him nothing player is just nonsense. By far our best defensive player and also contributes enough in the attack (when you consider his defensive contribution).

It would be painful to see him in another shirt, although if the reports were true, we were right to let him go. Verratti - Herrera would be a very combative little midfield unit.

Of course we could get better, but we won't. Players that could have been an option have gone, unless this Bruno is actually going to come and that isn't even enough. We have signed one first team player and a kid. In fact all we have done is pad the academy and are off on tour this weekend.

Couldn’t give a shit how he gets on at PSG. Bit of a shame he’s left - if we don’t replace him with someone quality - but if the rumours about the salary he was looking for are true then it would have been madness to keep him. Decent but limited player. I’ll miss his effort and fighting spirit (made all the more apparent by the lack of effort from certain other players in the squad) but won’t miss his wayward passing, panicked hoofs out of defence and relentless cheating.

A 5 year contract which takes him to a month before he is 35 years old. Insane.
It's not even Real Madrid circa 2003. They have the same attitude to team building that the NY Cosmos did in the NASL late 70s.

At least they want to win things, their methods might not be everyones cup of tea, but they want to win.
Everybody wants to win things. He'll win a bunch of league titles nobody cares about and that's all. He has the ability to play for teams who compete in proper leagues.

I don’t think he does. He’s a tier below the best CMs around and older than most of them too. Not a hope of getting signed by any of the other realistic CL contenders. From his perspective this is actually a fantastic move. Guaranteed a few league titles and being paid a shit-load to live in a very cool city. He’s quids in.

This .

I wonder who’d be first pick between him and Paredes, in the UCL.
Think a lot of this reaction is that we are in a mess and a good option for the team has gone from our midfield and our best midfielder wants out, one of our striking options wants out. Our goalkeeper will not commit to the club. People are worried with every right to be worried.

A good speaker and says all the right things to seduce the fans. But he'll be warming the bench.

I liked Herrera, but he is gone, and I would rather focus on the players coming in, and the progress of our academy for this coming season and beyond.

The hate and undermining of Herrera's abilities once he decides to not extend is actually pretty childish and kinda funny.
