Thought that was interesting and very relevant. The Mall putting the high street out of business as Amazon puts the malls out of business today.

That’s a commentary on 80s GOP economic in and of itself, just a layer deeper. Ultimately good for corporations but bad for the common people.
There was one for Wrangler jeans too. At least it looked like that to me.
On season 3: I liked it better than 2.
The two ice cream peeps were great
especially after they were drugged
Come on man it’s obviously product placement, Coke have paid Netflix millions for those scenes.....it’s the same 2-3 companies all the way through that’s the give away.
It’s not ruined the season or anything it’s been great but they’ve been paid that big sponsorship money.
Saw 3 episodes and both me and my wife absolutely hate it till now. They seem to have taken a complete turn from their more serious tones in previous seasons to something so childish and immature that its becomes ridiculous. The story telling is all over the place, there is absolutely no background on how some people are reacting to certain situations (Hopper in the first few episodes), not to forget the acting from some of the kids has been poor.
That 3rd episode montage in the mall was cringeworthy. Going from the dark science-fiction themes of previous seasons to this adolescent drama is horrible, maybe it will improve later on as the science-fiction story develops more. Oh, and why.the.f*ck do they always have to cram in an 80's song into every single scene?! I get that they want to emphasis the 80's theme but effing hell no need to ram it down my throat.
My friend actually suggested to watch this before I saw Dark season 2 because he would think Stranger Things would be sh*t infront of it, he was right. I think I hate this a lot more because I just finished Dark.

I like that they're playing up the cheese. That was part of the pull for the first one in my opinion. The whole point was harking back to cheesy 80s movie nostalgia. I know what you mean about Hopper being a bit mental, but I guess that can be explained with him being plunged into being a parent.

I agree that they were really overdoing it with the 80s music especially at the beginning. It was like they got the licences and went nuts by cramming every song into every scene regardless of whether it was a good fit stylistically or lyrically.
Really enjoyed the first episode. Already better than Season 2.
Long, drawwwllln out. Nothing original. 1980s setting for 1980s sci-fi horror plots. But not the worst sci-fi horror; just unoriginal. Come back Fringe.

The first season mixed the 80's kids element with sci-fi horror really well to create a fantastic season, I loved it then. But this season they have upped the 80's nostalgia to cringe levels while completely downplaying the sci-fi horror genre (until episode 3, I don't know if it will get better later on as the story develops more).
Dark is amazing, very different feel to Stranger Things.
Finished it. Thought the first two eps were a bit slow but I'm ok with that. It really picked up from ep 3. Really enjoyed it until the final ep:
The emotional segment at the end was completely undermined because if Suzie that fat cnut didn't spend 5 minutes singing a stupid song, Hopper and Billy would have been alive. Also, Max gets over Billy's death a little too quick.

Nah he just gets exceptionally annoyed at 80's nostalgia. That said the whole show is 80's nostalgia so maybe he's avoiding it anyway.

I think people need to realize also that the cheesiness that they added to season 3 is also playing on 80s teenage angst movies. It’s part of the plot for a reason, just like New Coke.
I loved it and had a great time watching it, what more can you ask? Even though I have one or two issues with the end, overall a return to form.

A bit slow to begin with, with all the teenage romance shit dominating at the expense of the plot progression. But picked up after that and the last 4-5 episodes were really good. I had a very enjoyable Sunday binging it.

So me and missus watched it on Thursday and to begin with we didnt recognised that it was mrs wheeler that was flirting with billy. It wasnt until she was heading down stairs we were both "holy shit, that mikes mom!". Did she get past anyone else with her new look or are we the only blind idiots?

You can't compare the 2 shows. Dark is probably one of the most intelligent and complicated series ever made.
Stranger things is very good fun. I suggest you finish the series, from episode 3-4 on, it's all about the supernatural and horror. I think it was ace.
This is one of the reasons I watch everything with subtitles. I've not watched the show since season 2 ran so I'd have completely missed who it was if I hadn't been reading the text.
Just found out Robin (the girl who works in the ice cream parlour) is Uma Therman's daughter.
Finished it. Really enjoyed it, 8 episodes seems to be the sweet spot for me on these type of shows. Perfectly bingable over 2 or 3 nights.
Team scoop was the real story thread highlight for me. No America without Erica. Dingus Steve and Robin were brilliant together too. Think Steve has probably been the best character over all 3 series.
I'm in for a 4th season, the music and nostalgic feel is just my thing.

While I've accepted the explanation given by @Carolina Red and @Reddy Rederson and even what the Duffer Brothers were saying, some of the things were still definitely very obvious product placement. For example the final episode with El and the Coke can, it's a bit of a tense moment and it definitely felt like, umm, right now?
That was great fun. Thought the first couple of episodes were a bit patchy with weird character decisions and unnecessary teen drama but really picked up after that. Similar to before in places but felt more original than Season 2, if as a whole it's obviously quite derivative. As always the characters are the strong point of the whole thing.

As soon as they started making plans, one of them was fecked. Making plans has replaced having sex and saying “I’ll be right back” as the foreshadowing of impending death. As soon as they did that, they gave Russian Arnold boogeyman powers.

Russian Arnold had boogeyman powers from the start. Wanted so much to see him fight possessed Billy. It would have been like terminator vs the T-1000. A fight for the anals of history.
