So said Gary Neville back at the beginning of May following the one-one draw away to already relegated Huddersfield in the penultimate game of last season.

I'm reading the Pogba Future thread and we have people debating as to whether we should dislike either him or Lindgard more.

It seems therefore everyone from club legends to your everyday fan have contempt for the current squad. It's a sad indictment. Where do we go from here?

Theres nothing you can do.

The only thing that makes it better is the current selection of shit houses being kicked out and a squad of actual footballers who give a feck being bought in.

I think the only thing we can do is have Ole give the kids a lot of games. Let the innocence play. People who actually give a s*it about the club. Who cares if we finish 6th or 10th. I mean does it really matter. At least have some players out there who will give it their all, care and you never know they might actually do a better job than the players who have had chance after chance after chance

Agreed. Change the board / management of the club with people who understand football and get some proper players in. We bought mainly crap for 5 years straight and dont boot out all the existing crap.

It seems like the majority of the squad are actual shitbags but to be fair that's just a perception largely dominated by how much we're hearing about Pogba, Lingard, Lukaku etc over the summer. If those 3 fecked off I'd find the squad a lot less detestable.

Still, you'd struggle to make a 5 a side team with the players in the squad who are likeable as people and also good enough to warrant a squad number.

Mata is nice. Lindelof seems cool.

The rest? Feck 'em (except the new guys, I'll wait a game or two before I start shitting on them).

Players like Young certainly care and yet are also the reason why we finished 6th. It's complete nonsense spouted by everyone in football - if their team has a bad season then "they didn't care enough".

Yeah I struggle to think of much positive when I think of this club at the moment. AWB is a good signing and we do have some good players but I just don't really believe the club as a whole is doing all it can to get back to where it should be so I'm really struggling to care.

The Open next Thursday too

I am looking forward to how the young boys do on tour though - that's a positive.

Start winning. If we win the prem this season then all the aforementioned players will be loved, even if they don't change much.

So the question is why aren't we winning? I wouldn't lay that solely at the players' feet.

Other than this forum to catch up on United news I've switched off.

Haven't renewed my membership eirher (and keep ignoring the emails and calls). Club is a shitshow from top to bottom and feel like I'm watching through my fingers like a horror movie.

Come to think of it i only have sky and BT to watch United so may as well cancel them as well.

Our club is being flushed down the pan by money men with bo love of or knowledge of MUFC or even football in general. F##ked if I'll be bothered if they aren't.

I don't feel it's not supporting United. Rather I feel it's as though the United I know and have grown up with for the past thirty years or so is taking a break from football (and competing). One of the biggest clubs in the world on name only at the moment.

Wait until the end of the transfer window. See who else we else we sign (if anybody). Think we should get behind Ole. Give it a go. Take next season as part of the building process. Hope results and performances improve and see where we are at the end of next season as we will get a better reflection of how we are progressing.

The club thinks average Brexit FC is the answer judging by the trajectory of our transfer window.

Once Paul Le Virus and to a lesser extent Lukaku both leave the squad there will immediately be a lift in the squad spirit and appeal.

We actually do have some likeable characters. Shaw, Lindelof, Mata, De Gea. I also think James is going to be a fan favourite too.

Hopefully, one or 2 decent signings and we will be in better shape.

The feel bad factor surrounding our club and our fans at the moment is almost palpable.

feck majority of them, bunch of pricks, what i hate the most is that they made me feel this way for the first time ever towards players representing the club i support. Worst part of all, dont think its even result related, my view wouldnt change even if we were more successful. No fight, no effort, nothing is there nada.

Leeching motherfeckers, not only for wages but past success 2, older players being called winners with winning experience, when in reality they were carried by true winners, legends, warriors, carried by true passion of those players, by them putting their heads where it hurts, by them being world class and so on.

.!. for every time after shit performance them talking about doing better, giving their all in next game, just so we could watch them idle heartless around next week, how they have to be "united", what a rotten bunch.

I think this is a hard reset in terms of really moving away from the previous transfer windows we've seen. Every player Ole seems to want is young and dynamic (Maguire is the outlier here although he's not that old & I really don't rate him).

To be honest, it is what we need. We've become a 5 star retreat for top players to come to - huge salaries, image rights go through the roof with our fan base, excellent facilities - why wouldn't you come here unless the best teams want you. And that's the issue, let's be realistic here, if an established player is coming to us it's because he's not wanted by Real, Barca, Juve, PSG, City etc and that hints at them either not being truly top level or that their mentality/attitude is suspect. This season will be a real struggle but I think we'll see some real characters develop and more of a core group of players come through. I fully expect no more signings.

Did anyone see the video on official Twitter..where it seems Pogba and Lingard are actually having a go at each other.? It's only couple of seconds but you can clearly see it's not banter!!

sadly it's going to take 2 years or two summer windows I feel to sort it out all being well - we need to cut the disease out

being ultra-positive you could argue that Solskjaer has it in him to turn the current squad around and have then running thru brick walls

let's not kid about though, even with top 4 still possible the players didnt try.... even when they were facing 25% pay cuts they couldn't raise themselves in the second half against Chelsea or in the Cardiff/Huddersfield games... truly pathetic

desperate to see 2 more in and 3 or 4 out

It eventually gets better right, United fans of yesteryear suffered through relegation, the 70s abs the 80s. Hopefully it won't be 1% as bad as that must have been

Will take longer than two summers if we don’t make CL this season.

Said it once, I will say it again: clear out. Free transfer the worst elements if needed. We will not move forward with so many wasters in the squad. They'll just spread their crappy attitude to any new signing.

Just sell everyone over 25. Tired of the same faces and players letting us down year after year after year. Might as well commit to the whole "Youth Courage Success" thing and build young team that we can get behind and get excited about.

About the only 2 players I liked were Herrera and Rashford cos I thought they were like fans and loved the club. Demoralising to see both of them demanding £350k approx to stay, with one of them obviously leaving.

I despise this current squad.

We will see a much more youthful side playing this season. And it will give everybody a big lift. James running at defenders like a young Giggs. AWB getting those interceptions in and suddenly changing defense into attack. Greenwood getting off the mark for the first team will be a big shot in the arm, because we all know he is quality and we all want to light the blue touch paper and see him take off. Rashford and Martial have both signed their contracts and if we play the way that Ole wants to set up, I can see them both having a big season. And although this is only speculation at the moment, but some our biggest problems might be addressed in this transfer window. And that could be cashing in on Pogba and bringing in 3 new recruits that improve our squad. There is a lot to be positive about. We just need to be patient.

It all starts right at the top. It is no coincidence that players who look great elsewhere come to United and become crap. It was almost always opposite under SAF. Gaffer was our director of football more than he was the manager. He kept the players focused on football and only football. Those who were distracted beyond his control, eg. Becks, were ruthlessly culled. Now we have a director of football(Ed Woodward) who was the head of commercial activities for the club prior to his current role. It's no wonder that many of these players are more focused on their commercial appeal than on football. The serious ones like Lukaku, Rashford, etc. are probably frustrated by it or give into that culture.

Give these players a a reason to want to show up at the training grounds everyday besides their wages and gradually we'll move to being a football club again.

the hard part is the pressure Solskjaer and the players will be under if things dont go well.

Ole struggled in that bad run and seemed to age 10 years in 10 weeks. The players folded when things went badly....

I just hope for Ole's sake he can make some visible progress. If the attitudes improve for the whole season we can get top 4

It's hard to argue. Even back in the dark days before SAF, there were players I enjoyed watching for United. Recently though, probably since Zlatan left, I can't think of a player that I even like, let alone a part of the formation.
