Trouble is 3/4 of your bench is unlikely to play which means you have to play Torreira and Hojberg every week, who even with a good fixture, are very likely to score you sweet fa.
Yep, that squad to me is epic fail.

I asked them at HQ in email and they failed to answer!

So no free hit chip - have they got anything else in place of it?
I thought someone a page or so back said it IS still included. Just you can't use it week one. For clear reasons. So no panic

Hmmm, Augero, Kane, Salah and Sterling are no longer possible unless you have one 5.5m defender or midfielder and the rest 4.5m...

EDIT you can squeeze some more out of the 3rd forward position (had a 6.5m striker)

Fabianski (4m)
Robertson VVD Digne (Kelly Gibson)
Salah BSilva Zaha Maddison (Dedoncker)
Kane Jimenez Ings

Not sure about Ings but pretty set for the rest. Fabianski has a hooriblw opener but then plays a few promoted teams so should be ok over the first 5 games. No United players, had Martial and Long but changed to Zaha and Ings.

Why can I not renew last season's league's?
It's like an automatic thing, like my team shows back in Red Cafe.

And my Twitter Premier League I reactivated and already has 40 or so players...

room for more so the code for Twitter Premier League is... aefj29

Haha, you spend all your money then realise you got none for strikers?
The aim of the game is to make your points of your defense and Midfield.

You get more points for a Midfielder to score hence Mane and Salah relying on them two to score my goals

No, good to have you on board there. It's the Twitter Premier League simply because originally just me and a few Twitter mates started up and the same folk have been coming back each year. I'm not sure my own team has ever made the top ten! So maybe this year eh...

relying on them two
THOSE! Sorry but I'm on one! And this leads me to...

Just noticed (and this is the first forum I have EVER seen do this), you are not allowed to use text speak.

I wasn't allowed to add a 'lol'

I'm not a fan of all this text speak but to deny it is, well... ridiculous IMO

In a similar vein, I am still restricted to 3 posts per day. After all this time?

Maybe forums where the admin think they're school teachers and treat you like a kid don't deserve to have a forum to run.

Thinking of changing Zaha maybe but otherwise happy. Will keep an eye of KDB.

I've been playing six or more seasons now and reckon that the game is seriously flawed now because the budget has remained at 100m for a decade as far as I can tell, yet the prices just continue to rise.

Okay, on the reverse side, forwards like Lukaku and Rashford are the same value and on the cheap side but you'd plump for other big-budget forwards than them I'd wager.

At a pinch, you could muster a side with three marquee midfielders or two plus Aubameyang / Kane / Aguero etc but the rest of the squad pans out around 5.5-6m.

Wouldn't be so bad if these increases were on the small and sensible size but Mane is hiked by 2m along with other key players... what do others think?

They should increase the budget? This is like being at work with no pay increase for ten years!
This year's edition is certainly the most difficult with value for money. Maybe it's just me but I can't produce a strong, balanced team out there, especially if you want 5 marquee players or so in. Last year was easy as they come in that respect. I think the prices will change when the season starts, maybe for the better.

Also, on a separate note

I'm fecking sick of doing shite at this game. Can someone who's pretty decent at it give me a breakdown of how your supposed to play this fecking thing across a whole season? Is there 1 way that works consistently or is it just luck? Just wanna understand it better so I can enjoy it a bit more

Dont chase points, which is the biggest mistake people make. If Delofeu scores a hat-trick, doesn't mean you should drop whoever and bring him in for the next week.

Use your chips carefully, wait for double game weeks to use the free hit/triple captain.

Mostly skill with a little luck (captain choices a big part).

I don't think there's any real science to it. You can look at stats until you're blue in the face but in reality what do we know about next season - likely Liverpool and City will contend that title again so the biggest points scorers will come from them (both in defence and attack). So that's 5/6 slots taken already. Then look at who has a decent fixture run early doors - Everton & Bournemouth for example both do and they have some decent options at mid prices. Don't worry too much about more than the first 5/6 games as by then we'll know who looks good and where the bargains are. A lot of good players will use their first wildcard around then to get the squad they want. You might not need to but it's usually a sound tactic.

A few other tips - don't have loads of money on the bench. Try to get the the cheapest playing players.

Decide on a set and forget gk or cheap rotating ones before the season starts. Do not do what the guy across the office from me did and select Ederson and Patricio. That's too much money invested in one position and completely unnecessary when in reality, when are you going to bench Ederson for the Wolves #1?

Have at least 2 good captain options. These should be your ultra premium players. Salah, Sterling, Aguero, Kane, Auba all potentially fit into this category.

Avoid United obviously. We're awful.

Better yeah but I still wouldn't want to be playing Hojbjerg every week. Are we sure Gomes is first choice over Matip? They'd be my two main areas of concern with that side.

I think he'll be their starter but gonna see how the first few games go before moving it around. Hojbjerg will be moved on when the cheaper decent options make themselves known. Sure after 5-10 games we'll know of some bargains

They have frustratingly but at the same time enjoyably got a lot of the price points right this year it looks like. Very difficult to hit a balance and be totally happy with it. I keep finding myself in spots where i am left screaming for just an extra 0.5m and i'd be happy but then have to move one piece and suddenly more need moving.

A piece of 'friendly' (pardon the pun) advice, don't make the mistake of picking players based their pre-season performances. This has been to my detriment in the past.

I think this is the first season where my gw1 team likely won't have any Utd players. Martial is the only one I'm interested in tbh but there are so many great midfielders for between 7 and 8m that I can't really justify going for him (at least not immediately). Are most others the same?

Greenwood and Wickham aren’t nailed on for sure, but if my subs are it’d sub in at 4–5-1 or 5-4-1 which I’d be happy with.
