He clearly said in public last season that he will be successful here with or without some players, then that some players played their last game for the club. Some months later and it's the same squad bar Valencia and Herrera, the former hardly played and the latter wasn't a deadwood.

He's just saying random stuff.
It’s not just Valencia & Herrera that left, but that’s irrelevant. He said players would leave, and players have left whilst the transfer window is still far from over. I would use another example to prove my point if I was trying to prove Solskjær talks shit.

To be fair a number of players have played their last game for the club and you can hardly expect him to hang out the dirty washing in public, that would be disastrous leadership especially after Mourinho.
Wish that 5 who have gone on tour had played their last game for the club.

Totally agree with the part in bold. Feel sorry for Ole as I don't think Woody has given him a fair platform to build from. Still hoping for a few signings or can see us having a crap season.
The way I see it is that Ed Woodward may as well be the manager for he is the only one allowed to make decisions that count. It seems as though he is running the club from top to bottom. Getting rid of him would be a good start to a revival of fortunes. Not forgetting of course, that his bosses are also not interested in actually winning trophys, as long as the cash is coming. Then they would be the next "monkey" United needed to shake off.

Ole is too nice for the job. Lead up the garden path by Woodward doesn’t help. Ole is a bit of a yes-man, should feck a few out the door but he’s now saying he is happy with the squad.

They are only 2 senior players who have left unless you are willing to count those youngsters whose names no one knew of who have been released?

Less than 1 month away from the market ending and the only ones linked to leave are Lukaku and Pogba.

He does not talk shite. He's just clueless and is saying random things that keep contradicting each other from time to time.

Comprehend just fine Reddy. If you want me to educate you further on the topic I can on the assigned thread.

Same for you @Im red2 - Can't be ar$ed with it here.
I need no education from an idiot to show me that United are going down, it is obvious even to my dog and cat. And to you, who seems to think all is well. Who do you support as a team for it is obviously not United.

Fans asking where is "ruthlessness" you promised in terms of change? OGS: "Yeah, I can see your point but doing business in the football market is not going to be a quick fix overnight. There are loads of players here I know are going to be successful at this club."

Completely different from him saying last season he will be successful here while many players won't be, and that some players played their last game for us. Now he knows there are loads at the club who are going to be successful.

He didn't even answer the question properly. "Yeah I see your point" seriously? It's not the journalist 's point. It's what Ole himself said last season about being ruthless.

I find it so sad to see Ole having to say positive things just to keep his dream job. I wouldn't blame him one bit for walking away and then outing those leeches and their puppet in public.

Ole has no choice, but to to eat his own words from last season. He fell for Woodward's "Make United Great Again" sales pitch.

If I was him that is exactly what I would do, I would quit and state that I quit because the manager is not being backed. as a certain Ed Woodward is running all affairs at the club. Which is obviously the case.

He did handle that well but i get the feeling he was towing the club line ie we are a business first and a football club second.
And I think the journalist that brought up the negative impact of a preseason half way around the world is a good point, commercial before sporting, that will have a negative affect on the team once the season starts.
I’ve got this horrible feeling, and i hope I’m so wrong, that the owners and their henchman(Woodwood)have hired Ole to appease the fans while they continue to rinse the club which was their m.o. when they came in,I remembered reading the warnings about the way they rinsed their nfl business?Hows that going by the way ?

Ole could end up being sacked under these leeches and coming back again when the club is under decent ownership and become a great manager.

Maybe you can tell us what is positive about how the club is being run?
Mourinho got fecked off. Thats about the long short of the fact the club is going in the right direction.

Better yet, maybe the moaning posters on Redcafe can tell me what their qualifications are to say whether Manchester United is being run poorly because from a business perspective, it's arguably the best run club in the world.

Difference is, three failed managers have absolutely taken the piss with the shit tonne of money they've spent on absolute shit and apparently its the owners fault?

From a Buccaneers forum "Based on theGlazers past hiring choices since firing a consistently winning coach Dungy after he spoiled Bucs fans with winning seasons after season. Then they fired Gruden, and since then it's been years of hiring feckups! I think theGlazers should fire themselves!

Good post you summed up what I've been thinking perfectly. I think he has got too much power and until we get the DoF (if it hasppens during the Glazer's ownership), I think Woody should just agree a set budget with Ole and let Ole choose the signings and Woody just concentrate on negotiating the wages.

Like you I would also like to get rid of Woody but as long as he keeps on lining the Glazer's pockets they will keep him on board. It p!sses me off to see the lack of ambition from the owners and only aiming for top for and not putting in the necessary investment and recruiting the calibre of players to get us challenging for major honours again.

That's just utter nonsense, a player who has virtually retired and one we wanted to actually keep isn't getting rid of the deadwood. No one has left because Ole wanted them gone, maybe in the next few week they will hopefully.

Not that it's his job to sell players anyway so why the need for such a ridiculous argument is beyond me.

I agree that past managers have bought poorly, but it is up to the club to see that it is run properly, and despite the obvious fact that a director of football is needed we have the same fiasco season after season after season with Ed Woodward , signing players at a whim on amazing salaries, and no direction from the club. The main interest of the current owners is financial. Football is not too important, now I do not know how you feel. BUt me, as a Manchester United fan the main interest has to be the football. And when the club is owned by people who do not really care about winning trophies as long as the cash is right. Then they are bad owners.

Those amazing salaries are paid because the Manager identifies specific player and the club has to pay that amount to get them to sign. Usually because the other players these last three managers have signed are absolutely dog shit and they're trying to rectify the situation.

Facts are that United have been overtaken by a group of rich Americans who have no interest in "Soccer" but have a major interest in finance. There is damn all that can be done outside of a boycott. in order to try make them sell. Otherwise they are going nowhere. Just like a tick that latches on to your body. He (she actually) will not let go until she is full. And legally they are not breaking any laws.

It's almost exactly like last year so far. Except Ole is nicer than Jose. We came 2nd in the league in 17/18. Had we bought a central defender last summer we could have easily retained that position. It's the same reason Mourinho was annoyed. You need to either back the manager or sack him. Otherwise what's the point in being Manchester United?
A centerhalf was not going to put us anywhere near on par with Liverpool...

I can’t believe some of these comments it’s obvious who he wants shut of, he knows the players that aren’t good enough but no matter what he says it isn’t easy to clear the deadwood ( we have been trying for years with some of them ) . The point he made was “ no one has made any offers for our players “
So what the hell is he supposed to do ?
If anyone offered decent money for
Darmian
Rojo
Smalling
Jones
They would be gone would that be ruthless enough ? He’s not responsible for the contracts these guys have that’s Woodward decision .
Should he say Pogba is a pain and I want rid of him and see the offer prices come tumbling down ? He had to play the game until the window is closed then we can judge how ruthless we have been but I remind you all once again it’s Woodward who calls the shots Re transfers not the manager whoever he may be

Thanks for pointing out what I thought was obvious but looking at the thread perhaps wasn't obvious to everyone. The silent majority its often called.

I would like to introduce an idea to our fans, that of mutual interdependence. I hear many fans say that the reason they are so angry and loud and negative is because of how bad the club is run. This is an example of how their feelings are dependent on the state of the club. Many, many, years ago I noticed that my feelings were swinging wildly based on our results, and the alcohol I was drinking was inflaming those emotions even more. I realised that for all the happiness I got from football, it wasn't worth all the depression and anger. I took a break from football to restore my mental balance. A lot of United fans appear to be seriously depressed and could perhaps do with a break and loosening their attachment.

But its also the case that fans can influence the team. There is a difference between being a fan(atic) and a supporter. The word supporter more accurately reflects this mutual interdependence. We can of course do this at the game through singing, and off the pitch through purchasing, but its a double edged sword, when at a match we collectively groan, curse, boo, or even just stay grimly silent, that atmosphere transmits to the players. And off pitch the social media abuse (take a look at Young's instagram or even his performance thread) will find its way back to the player and can affect their morale and confidence. There is a feedback circle here of fans getting on a player's back, them performing badly, and that aggravating the fans even more. This works with managers too.

Now a professional footballer (or manager) at such a big club as ours has to be strong enough mentally to resist that influence, to have immense self-belief, and also to forget their last game, their last season, and focus on their next game. Only then can they maintain mental balance and their joy of playing.

Of course, they are professionals, but if you are a fan, the sort to use RedCafe, then you are more or less a professional fan, life-long which is more than most of our players. So we have to look after our mental health for the rest of our lives too, because our blood will always be red. And that similarly means forgetting last season and the last game, and focusing on the next one, one game at a time, maintaining your belief in United's potential, its players and manager. While the team's poor performance might make you angry or frustrated or sad, if you are still feeling like that weeks after, that is now your responsibility, about how you deal with your emotions and choose to respond. If you don't then you will end up like Claude or DT.
It was obvious, yes.

Looks like a healthy perspective to have, and I do try to take responsibility for managing the ups and downs to maintain some sort of balance. It is hard because football is an escape like many other things, and it is very easy to get sucked in. It is easier to come up with potential signings, line ups and be an armchair manager hypothetically making changes to a big club, than to be the actual manager of your own insignificant life sometimes:lol: Tied in with the tribalism it can be hard to really get the space needed. It is natural to be upset, but it almost seems like a collective meltdown going by opinions on the internet. As you said we'll always be fans so there is no need to rush things really and make it harder for ourselves to be fans, but we do seem to need that instant gratification these days, or else we get bored.

To be honest I don’t know how can handle the media better, he’s been 10 out 10 in terms of that side of things. If only he can do an as good a job with the team as with the media..

We'll spend no doubt about it, but I've no doubt that moving some of the deadwood on is proving extremely difficult.

I mean almost every single supporter would agree that say Rojo and Darmian are average at best. How many times have you read time and time again they are deadwood, they aren't good enough etc etc...

But on the other hand folks conveniently forget all this and then expect them to be sold without issues.

This isn't a dig at you at all Irwin but, do folks not combine the two and apply some common sense and realize there isn't a manager with the slightest bit of cop on that would touch either of them with a 500 foot barge pole!

Anyone reading this consider this, if you were a manager of a team would you part with transfer funds to buy Jones? Rojo? Darmian? When you consider how little some of them have played in recent years, how poor they've been when they have managed to play, their injury records and finally...their wages.

Folks seem to think its a simple click of the fingers and players move on.

Before anyone says just take whatever, then the board / Woodward are slated as well in turn for not getting a return on investment and under selling the player in question.
I would honestly have let Jones out on a free transfer when we had the chance last year, the problem is I don't expect generally bad/average players to be easy to sell but my point is that the club shouldn't be renewing their contracts after years of poor performances. It would be a symbolic gesture as much as anything (like letting Fellani go to finally rid us of the hoof ball association) and would be appreciated by the fans.

Mate, I'm totally embarrassed by a lot of our fanbase like that. Feel so sad and sorry for Ole, I can imagine how abusive and disgusting the reactions towards him will get if we hit a bit of a rough patch.

I wish the forum didn't have such strict rules so people can get a real view of what my thoughts about them are. Delusional and prickly is the mildest I can describe it as, whilst not going over the line.

Pray for Solskjaer that we start the season flying, otherwise all the buckets of shit will be thrown on his head by our own fans. And the Glazers and Woodward will have another scapegoat to save them from what they deserve. Then the next one will come and the cycle continues on and on, until the club is officially not capable to compete on the top level.

Yes it's. From trying to claim he's ruthless and saying several players will be playing their last game for us to now acting as if it was the journalist's point and paving the road for most of the squad to stay because it's not quick fixes and loads will be success here. Whatever you like it or not, and for whatever reasons, he simply ate his words from last season.

Maybe if he wants to keep things positive all the time he should not have came that confident saying in public last season he will be success here while several players won't and some already played the last game for the club. What were the purpose of these quotes then?

Have more faith man, I thought you were a more rational poster than that. Do you want another Mourinho scenario or what?

We need to get the Glazers and Woodward to feck off, along with all their cronies at the club. This has been the main issue for 10 years or more.

Don't disagree. Woodward is by far our biggest problem. However, if Ole's intentions is to go on with Woodward ideas and become a yes man to avoid another Mourinho scenario then how is this going to solve anything? Unlike Mourinho, he will have the full support of the fan base so if he goes against the board and demanded revamping the squad or leaving, all the fans will be behind him. He's in a strong position in terms of having fans on his side, so no need to eat his words and try to act like a yes man for Woodward imo.

They'll just sack him like Mourinho and the fans won't do shit. Where were the protests after we were in 8th place under the Portuguese manager and he was publicly throwing the club under the bus?

Why can't we as fans pressure the club hierarchy now and give Ole more leverage to make demands to Woodward? Solskjaer has noone to back him apart from Phelan, do you think anyone around Woodward is taking him fully serious? The fanbase can change everything about the whole club if we decided to. The local and matchgoing fans are crucial, get 40-50k of Old Trafford to protest against the Glazers and see how quick they will either change the structure or start plans of selling the club. This is the most realistic way, otherwise we keep blaming the managers and keep firing them, and the shit keeps hitting the fan and going back into our faces.

There is no manager on the planet that will come to Manchester United and start moaning in public about the structure, the owners, the bad investment, the shit players. Tell me one person who will do that and who will not get sacked. Guardiola will never come here, we have no long-term plan and that is why he is at City. Same goes for Klopp, who probably thought Woodward is a fecking egotistical prick when describing Old Trafford as the "adult Disneyland". Pochettino would be like Ole and making sure to just keep his job - look at him in Spurs, this is the first summer they are getting him some proper players and they've bought what, Ndombele and that's about it, right?

Just support Ole and vent your anger against Woodward and co., please people, realise what the feck is going on, it's not rocket science!
 Feck me some high and mighty types on here.
What's your issue with having respect for our greatest manager? What a shallow response from a grown-ass man.

What's your issue with having respect for our greatest manager? What a shallow response from a grown-ass man.
Nothing shallow about it and what gives you the right to tell people how to speak. Get off your fecking high horse, just because you do not like or agree with what another fan is saying. I doubt very much you would speak like that to his or anyone elses face.

And you are sure of that because why? I wish I was able to come to Manchester so we can check this theory in real life.

All of you abusive keyboard warriors talking shit about Ole would never be brave enough to do it in his face though and that's much more factual than your statement.

Also, learn how to quote properly and specify the post that was aimed at you. You should know better by now, you aren't a newbie.

Trust me I slaughter Woodward almost more than any else in the club here.

However I don't think Ole will be helping his case much at all if he decides to act like a yes man and go on with Woodward's intentions to just keep things positive anyway. These players will get him sacked in the upcoming months if he enters the season with this squad unchanged. He needs to put pressure on the board and as I said he had the advantage of having the fans on his side this time unlike Mourinho when we were divided between him and the board. Otherwise what's the point? The players will get him sacked and he will leave like nothing with the next manager moving on the same footsteps as him.

How am I going to support a manager against the board when he himself is trying to go on with their intentions instead of pressing them to revamp the squad ? I will prefer a manager repelling on the board, pressing them, being forced to leave and getting the entire fan base against the board thanks to that rather than a manager trying to act positive about our business which will ultimately lead to his demise few months later anyway, and will be leaving without helping his case and will be followed by another manager to keep the cycle going. He won't be able to say he was annoyed the board did not support me when some months ago he acted perfectly calm and said we are doing a good job in the market and happy with the squad etc.

If Ole needs support against board he simply needs to show that he's incontent with the current business and market. If he ends up saying he's happy with what we did in the market, it will end up being his problem as much as the rest all honestly. Gonna be hard to support him against the board when he himself showed no problems with what they are doing.
