He would've instantly become my favourite ex-City and Liverpool player if he had done that

Balotelli hates our club so I'm a bit baffled about the love-in he suddenly receives on the Caf.

Hates? Based on what? He's just a WUM, like when he wore a Rashford t shirt in case he scored against PSG after we had knocked them out.

I have no idea why people find him interesting.

Why things didn't work out for him at Liverpool ?
He was not taking training seriously. He might be unimpressed with Rodgers but you do not disrespect your manager in your first training session.

He seemed to think that strikers do not need to contribute defensively. This attitude means Klopp does not trust him.

Well that makes Sturridge's exit clearer

In the season Klopp arrived, Klopp's preferred strikers are Firmino and Origi. The only reason Sturridge started the Europa Final was because Origi got injured.

He denied the Rashford thing straight away.

Then we have all of these:
Balotelli was also part of the embarrassing 6-1 defeat to City, played for them and Liverpool as well, our biggest rivals. He is a huge wanker in general and nothing about him is likeable at all.

How can you get these two mixed up? One is man utds best player and highly regarded footballer whilst the other one is a legend in his own mind.

He would be in jail if not for football.
Hasn't he calmed down a lot since his daughter was born? You get the odd story like this but nothing like in his time at Man. City when fireworks were being let off in his house and loads of other stuff.

Think I read he left Marseille so can see him popping up somewhere in premier league next season as his goal output was pretty good in France.

He's damaged goods in England.

On a free transfer I could see Newcastle with their lack of strikers or West Ham who have lost Aranutovic, Andy Carroll and Hernandez (soon) as striker options biting.

Pogba had no toxicity issues at Juve or France but all of a sudden he is a toxic character like Mario.....
But he did under Ferguson, mourinho and solskjaer. Strange.

Sorry my mistake too, can continue in pogba thread

He’s a good player. He was, for me, harshly profiled by the British media, and then when he came to Liverpool, he was referred to as some sort of failed footballer, despite him having scored goals at Inter, City and Milan - in addition to his country.

Out of England he seems to have been allowed to grow up, but he’s not the failure that he’s often lazily referred to as. He’s scored goals pretty much everywhere since he was a teenager.
He's massively overrated in my view. He's not terrible, but for considering his profile he's only ever hit the 20 goal mark - in all comps by the way - once in his entire professional career and this was in France; yet somehow gets mentioned in thevsame breath as top strikers.

He's not a top striker, he's an ok player that can score some really good goals but comes with a ton of baggage.

He’s not amongst the very best strikers, but he’s a good player. He was a bit of an obsession for the press over here though, and didn’t get the credit for being actually useful on the pitch.

He didn’t get 20 goals, but as a teenager at City, he scored like 13 in 20 or so. He was part of the rotation. He did that twice, and scored goals at AC Milan too.

I just never felt comfortable with how he was profiled when he went back to Liverpool. He was labelled a ‘gamble’ despite, at that point, having been a reliable goalscorer everywhere, and his struggles on the pitch there were reported as some sort of personal attack, rather than a footballer struggling to settle at new club.

I remember Gerrard being particularly awful for Liverpool at that time, and they kept looking for a way to say anything but that.

It's not like he was labelled a gamble because he couldn't score goals. It was because he'd clearly displayed attitude issues at City and multiple managers had struggled to get to grips with him, he was pretty much the definition of a gamble. Mancini ended up ripping his hair out over him because of how impetuous he was, it wasn't exactly a secret that he was a player who was completely unpredictable. This is a guy who was visiting strip clubs a couple of nights before a game at City, letting off fireworks in his house, whipping out a fecking sword in Indian restaurants the night before games. Not to mention when he fecking stomped on Parker's head, the prick.

And whilst settling at a new club could explain his problems at Liverpool, the main issue is how he simply refused to run there. Honestly whenever he got on the pitch for him it was a joke, he strutted around like he was the star man and didn't have to put in an ounce of effort. Fair enough that's his playstyle and he didn't want to change, but if you stubbornly refuse to adapt and offer no energy at all when you're struggling for goals, you're going to get criticised as a person.
