Let's discuss players who were outstanding/good/decent enough two different positions??

And no, please don't mention GOAT O'Shea.

The ones I can think of who were able to play at top leagues in two positions and still thrive well are the usual likes of Maldini(full back and center back), P. Lahm(full back and had a good season as a midfielder under Peo), Puyol was a decent right back and a good centerback, while John Carles and his exploits as CB/CF are legendary. Krol was excellent as SW/FB, while Der Kaiser was GOAT SW/World Class Midfielder. Rijkaard also had a expert in two positions. Messi and Cristiano too have been played in two positions(ST and WF/AM), although I am not sure they count here or not.
Plus there are loads of full backs/wingers who were apt in both right flank/left flank, like Zambratto, George Best and so on.

So lets bring out the names and who you think eas truly legendary in two positions.

Wayne Rooney and Valencia were my first thoughts. Hargreaves was a good CDM and RB but was just always injured.

Dion Dublin was probably a better central defender than a striker.

This is debatable as critics used to argue over his best position a lot but Becks could be a central midfielder as well as a Winger. Would definitely be a centre midfielder these days I think.

Intresting one, i remember him paying RB, LB, LW, RM, AM and ST for us.
Yep, the guy clearly knows football and is pretty intelligent. It's a shame his legs are going as he's become the new scapegoat which he really doesn't deserve.

Dani Alves. Played RB/CM/RWB and probably wherever you'd ask him.

Javier Zanetti. He was fantastic on either flank, and also did quite well when he was called upon to play in midfield (2008-2009 comes to mind when Mourinho was facing a midfield crisis and used Zanetti as a midfielder).

Rooney has to there surely. He was great/good as a CF and SS/CAM and did a decent job out wide as well in the 08/09 season to accommodate Ronaldo and Berbatov through the middle.

Schweinsteiger was good as a wide player early on, even better as a midfielder

Sergio Ramos was a beast of a RB at Sevilla, and we all know how he's done at CB since moving to Madrid.

Sergi Roberto at Barca looked like a real talent in midfield and now he's keeping Semedo out of the team by claiming the RB spot as his own.

Ramos, was a great fullback for many years for club and country, has been a generational CB since.

Desailly as CB and DM. Laurent Blanc was a top prospect as attacking midfielder.

I think Rooney could have played premiership level football in almost any position on the pitch maybe not centreback because of his height.

Thomas Muller used to be good across the frontline and in a more withdrawn role.
