My son called the other day to say he's been sent over to Perth from Sydney to broadcast the United games. He's a broadcast engineer and he thinks that the broadcast he's doing is for United TV. He's looking forward to seeing the new stadium we have here which has only been used for soccer a couple of times. If this post shouldn't be here please move it as required.

Still annoyed they're playing in Perth, why couldn't it be Melbourne? United would easily pack the MCG

Optus own the rights to the Premier League in Australia and the Stadium is called Optus Stadium. I'd imagine they've paid through the nose to have them come out here.

I looked at tickets last year and went feck that. Absolute minimum it was going to cost me including flights was in excess of $1200.00. I could literally fly the UK and watch United at Old Trafford for that kind of money.

Yeah it was the same for me, I saw them in Sydney when they last came in 2013 but the timing and finances didn't work out this time around.

I'm happy they are coming to Perth at least. Finally get to see them close to home

I was in the same boat, but I was lucky enough to engineer a work trip to Perth - so only have to pay for tickets! Can’t complain...but agree that an eastern state/city would’ve been better.

It only occurred to me through your comment @mariachi-19 that the reason for Perth was to do with Optus Stadium - I thought it was a weird choice at first but that makes sense now. And I’d say Perth Government would’ve contributed a substantial amount too to getting United there.

I hadn't been back to perth in a few years so it gave me a reason to go back :)

Will be going to the game, but probably try to pick up some cheap last minute tickets. I don't think the games will sell out.

Perth should tie in a little better time zone wise at least with the rest of the tour. No need for the team and players to have to worry about it until they head to wales

It actually has nothing to do with Opus stadium according to reports coming out. Apparently when the Vics found out about the tour they, as usual, stuck their oar in to try to grab it but because some of the proceeds of the tour were going to Telethon, a children's charity, United went with the West. There was money put in by the government but I heard the Vics were offering more. So in the word of a world famous footballer 'Suck on it' Melbourne.

Ah there you go -haha. Often it seems these pre season tours are just so random. Like we have to travel half way around the world (not complaining from Australian fans point of view), but then it’s through Asia and Norway too!

Seems one local liverpool fan has splashed out some cash on a plane today. Over the United event/training, a plane towing a sign saying something like Liverpool 3-1 Champions was flown. Not sure why someone would waste the money, but slightly amusing.

It said Liverpool Champions of Europe X6. Bit of craic.

I'm surely Ole pointed out to the players as a little extra motivation.

Ah right. I was in a meeting at the time, so couldn't see it the best out the window.

The joke is on whoever paid for it cause not one of those United players couldn't give a rat's arse, sadly

Interesting to see how Ole sets the teams up for the 4 Aus/Asian games of the tour. Unlikely to be any more new additions that could participate.
