Tropical Storm Barry is moving in to make landfall near New Orleans. The storm is moving incredibly slow, meaning that while it is nowhere near as powerful as Katrina was, it could still dump massive amounts of water in Louisiana.

I live on the Northshore (across the lake), it isnt as bad as predicted so far... thankfully, we actually had Keanu Reeves here as he was filming in New Orleans and obviously had to postpone Bill & Ted 3.

Problem with Nola is that it's basically a giant bowl, see below for a picture.

What's it like living in New Orleans? Does one have to flee the city a few times a year?

It’s just crawling. I remember seeing last night that it was only moving 3mph north at one point.

Nobody really flees, just a bunch of party people that have had enough of being scared, hunker down and get on with it, however the city of New Orleans really havent learnt much from Katrina judging by the state of some of the storm drains... kinda learnt if things got get dun then doit yourself < say in a cajun accent and you got it.

It’s reached hurricane strength now. They’re expecting to 2 feet of rain. Live up to your screen name @Precaution
 it's weakened back to a storm, it's been very windy but little else, i have plenty of pics of the lakefront overflowing so the water is going to be a huge problem and by that i mean the stuff that's in there, we're contending with amongst other things, a flesh eating bacteria bug around the coast and algae

And gators, don't forget the gators.

In a world of my own. People know me here.
Barry’s a rubbish name for weather.
I smiled last year when they named a hurricane 'Florence' back in September, & then the following one in October was named 'Michael'. Florence & Michael were the names of my parents who both sadly passed away within a few months of each other back in 2017. They were both regular visitors to Florida & had experienced quite a few hurricanes during their many visits there. It was kind of spooky that they'd name 2 successive ones after my dear Mum & Dad :)
