Don't think we will buy a striker though. James has been signed to play across the front 3 and Greenwood is clearly going to be given more chances this term. When you factor in Rashford, Martial and Sanchez it just does not add up that we would add someone else.
Not enough goals there imo.

Never really warmed to Lukaku but i don't dislike him either and he is a decent striker but just not the right fit for us. I do think we will struggle a lot if we don't buy a replacement. People saying that we'll be fine with Sanchez,Martial, Rashford must be hoping that one of those players starts playing well from the central striking position because they've not shown much to suggest they're capable of getting 15-20 league goals this season. Also, again who plays on the right?

If he goes of the list of strikers we’ve been linked with Dembele is probably the best of a bad bunch. Hallar would be interesting but seems West Ham have that sinched up.

I know we need something different from what we probably have in Rashford, Martial and Greenwood but I wouldn’t mind having a punt at Timo for 50 and seeing what RB say. I’d imagine they’d rather lose him to us than Bayern for free next year.

He’s fast, energetic, can press and is a decent finisher, more proven than Rashford or Martial and all 3 can and should be able to play all over a front 3.

Ole has said we will replace Lukaku is he leaves.

I'm glad we'd replace him, otherwise it'd look like we're using blind faith that one of Rashford or Martial have an amazing breakout season, or Sanchez somehow finds his touch or 17 year old Greenwood ends up being half decent already.

Oh I agree but the glacial speed with which Ed is negotiating has me thinking that we are looking at 1 more signing this summer and it will probably be a CB.
Agree with you there. Got to be the slowest ever re-build. Could probably build a new stadium faster.

Considering we signed him for 75 plus 15 add ons and the market went even more crazy since then? I think no, pal.
Not a chance we have paid Everton the add ons so for me it is. If you are in doubt why arent teams lining up to sign him? We are flogging a player who is on high wages for more or similar money. I can name some of our other signings Ed couldnt do this to, Di Maria rings a bell.

That's why I think it's on par we should get but definitely not some notable achievement from Woody.

I expect every average striker will be quoted at £70m+ if we try replace him. And unlikely to be better.

Utd sell Lukaku and we won’t be replacing, clubs will just double their valuation when they see Utd are interested.
Transfer window closes and expect “its been a difficult summer with transfers “ “no value in market”

We'll have a deal in principle with someone, possibly Ben Yedder and Sevilla. No way we sell Lukaku without a deal in place with someone else.

We're not actively selling him. Same like how we're not actively selling Pogba. There's been interest and so we've set a price.

People bagging on Rashford way too soon, he has a comparable goal record to Messi at the same age, not that its linear, give him a chance, he could be a Wellbeck or an Andy Cole but has to be given time to grow up

James and Greenwood can play on right.
Sometimes you’ve got to have faith in youngster, maybe Ole has identified Greenwood as special talent, and want to give him more chances this season.

LWF - Martial, Rashford, Sanchez, James
CF - Rashford, Martial, Greenwood
RWF - Greenwood, James, Lingard, Mata

What makes you think that we should start chucking extra £5Ms and £10Ms around just to get deals over line? Don't you understand that looking like mugs in the transfer market is a reputation which can stick, and we will always be taken for fools?

We are playing the game. The selling clubs will hold out for the highest possible price. Many deals can go through in the final days of the window.

We are talking about world class players. I can't believe people are so naive to think that it matters that much if they miss a friendly against Perth or Leeds. Better to hold our ground and get the best deals for the best players.

What Ole says and what we do are two different things. We haven't sold a single player despite Ole claiming we'd seen the last of some of them
Good point. Problem we have is that out good players want to leave but nobody will meet our valuation of them, and the ones we need to offload don’t want to leave and nobody wants to buy them.

Could live without Lukaku but don't see Ben Yedder as an adequate replacement, and I think we should be asking for £80m+, otherwise we might as well keep him.

We all love United
We don’t really need another striker if Rom is gone. Rashford is very young and he can play 40 games a season. We still have Alexis and Mason to share the load upfront. Gone are the days when we need four strikers at the club no more

Yeah would rather sign a wide attacker if we sold him tbh.

Mason scored lots of them, in his own league of course. He can manage :D
Have a lot of faith in Mason like you and hopefully he can make the step up sufficiently and quickly :D. Like the optimism with your part in bold and truly hope you are right.
I would get Ben Yedder as Lukaku replacement as it gives Mason some time to bed in and wouldn't want to put uneeded pressure on him to produce regularly at this stage of his career mate.

That's assuming Rashford, Alexis and Mason will get enough goals. All the evidence suggests they probably wont.
