Of course we will, he's our Mighty Cap after allHe’s been rotating with Ben Davies for years now. He’ll play plenty game’s with Europa, midweek games etc.
I promise you we will see Ashley Young start 20/25 games this season.
Nice work. And won another big fat zero.
Trippier has gone. If Rose is sold too then most likely we'll sign Ryan Sessegnon and see him properly coached to become a left wing-back, with Davies holding the fort in the meantime.I think both Trippier and Rose most likely are gone.
I thought I posted that this morning no idea why it only posted now, I’m happy with Davies and Sessingon. I’d worry with Aurier, I would worry a lot unless he settles fast. Walker-Peters has ability but would be a lot of pressure, we will have to wait for the friendlies and see how we line up.Trippier has gone. If Rose is sold too then most likely we'll sign Ryan Sessegnon and see him properly coached to become a left wing-back, with Davies holding the fort in the meantime.
For RB, right now it looks most likely that Foyth is being prepared to take on this as his main role. But who knows, maybe Poch sees Walker-Peters or Aurier stepping up to the plate.
They play their first pre season game tomorrow against Juve.So they are our next preseason game...
How are Spurs getting on in preseason? Who have they played so far and what has the score been?
Possible lineup v United next Thursday?
Ah, ok. That explains why I wasn’t able to find any preseason results online. They play their first pre season game tomorrow against Juve.
Haven’t played yet - First game is tomorrow against Juve.So they are our next preseason game...

Some great insights into the younger players, thanks!Haven’t played yet - First game is tomorrow against Juve.
I’d expect a fairly B team + youngsters lineup. Our defence is really short on players for the tour. We didn’t bring any starting LBs so it will likely be a youth player like Georgiou or Lyons-Foster there, with an outside chance of Walker-Peters (although I think he’s much better at RB).
Overall Aurier, Dier, Davies, Wanyama, Sanchez, and Rose were all left at home so as I said the defence + DM spots will most likely be youth players.
I’d expect plenty of experimentation from Poch with different formations and plenty of youth players that I’m excited to see play. I’m also expecting similar from Ole.
I’ll give a breakdown of the youth players we’ve brought on the tour:
Troy Parrott is likely the highest rated amongst the bunch. He’s a 17 year old Irish striker who joined the youth set up last year and did extremely well showing off a strong all around skill set for the position which often brings a lot of comparisons to Kane that I think are unfair. Lots of word around the club that he could be in and around the first team next year. I still think he needs time as he’s still very young and likely won’t feature in more than a bench spot against a low ranked opponent in the cups and will likely mostly just be training with the first team next year but the opportunity is there for him to prove me wrong.
Oliver Skipp is a name some might recognize because he was promoted to the first team after all our options at midfield and DM crumbled last season from injury/lack of depth. He’s not got any stand out amazing skills, but he’s definitely got the work rate, defensive skills and desire to cut it at DM under Poch. This is a real opportunity for him to impress and actually earn more playing time or a good loan during the season especially with the likes of Dier and Wanyama left at home.
Japhet Tanganga is a personal favourite of mine. Big composed CB with a good passing range. I’ve rated him for awhile and was worried that Poch may not as some other youth CBs like TJ Eyoma and Jonathan Dinzeyi seemed to be more favoured for first team training and bench opportunities last year, but my fears have been alleviated now that he’s been invited on the tour instead of others. Think he has an outside opportunity of making some first team appearances in the cups for us next year if he does well, or if a loan opportunity arises.
Jack Roles is another interesting player. He reminds me a lot of Dele Alli. As he has a similar level of petulance, is tough to peg down what his position actually is, and scores boat loads of goals. He’s somewhat of a CM/AM who has a knack for arriving late and scoring. He had an odd contract dispute last season and many worried he was going to leave on a free, but he re-signed at the end of last season. Glad to see him on the tour and I think he’s another who could be garnering looks for first team action or a loan.
Anthony Georgiou and Brooklyn Lyons-Foster have both been invited to cover at LB because we don’t have any with Davies and Rose both staying at home. Georgiou was mostly a LW in the academy but Poch has played him at LB in the pre-season before. I don’t particularly rate him and think he’s just there to make up the numbers. I do rate Lyons-Foster though who can play anywhere across the back line but I think he needs to add more strength and needs some seasoning before he’ll be ready to garner first team attention.
Jamie Bowden, George Marsh, and Harvey White are all CM/DM options (although Marsh has been a utility man playing almost everywhere for the youth set up) who are just there to make up the numbers in my opinion. Marsh and Bowden are decent energetic midfielders, but I don’t think they have the quality for the first team. White is someone I really rate in the midfield and he definitely has first team potential, but I still think he needs some more time for seasoning.
The last ones are Jonathan De Bie and Alfie Whiteman who are both goalkeepers. I think they have the greatest chance of being upgraded to the top squad albeit as 3rd choice goalkeeper. I wouldn’t be surprised to see one or both feature at times during the pre-season. Michel Vorm left on a free last season opening up a spot and I’m glad that the club appears to be looking at the academy to fill it as it was frustrating watching us take up foreign player spots with 3 goalkeepers. I’m hoping one of these two to win the job but I’m not expecting either to ever play unless Lloris and Gazzaniga both were unavailable.
Why have they been left at home?Haven’t played yet - First game is tomorrow against Juve.

Yes. And in Dier's case he had a minor op to recover from.Played at AFCON.
Another one?Yes. And in Dier's case he had a minor op to recover from.
Yep. A week ago the club said: "Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.Another one?
Was this for the hernia or is it a new problem?Yep. A week ago the club said: "Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club's pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai."
Hernia? He had appendicitis and so had an operation to remove his appendix back in December. So this latest thing is something else. Was this for the hernia or is it a new problem?
Yeah that's it, i don't know where I got hernia from.Hernia? He had appendicitis and so had an operation to remove his appendix back in December. So this latest thing is something else.
And he only had one appendix so he can’t really have another op for it.Yeah that's it, i don't know where I got hernia from.
You're only supposed to have one aren't you?And he only had one appendix so he can’t really have another op for it.
Also to add more to my bit about the youth goalkeepers Jonathan De Bie and Alfie Whiteman getting some looks: Hugo Lloris has tonsillitis recently so I wouldn’t be surprised if Gazzaniga played 45 against Juve/United and one of the others played 45.
I like Gazza and I've seen/heard many Spurs supporters with similar views on him. I still think Lloris is the far better keeper despite having a couple howlers last year. I think Gazza's distribution is better, but overall I still think he's backup quality and when Lloris leaves we'll be looking elsewhere for his replacement. You're only supposed to have one aren't you?
Gazzaniga is very good, I was impressed whoever I saw him play last season. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes Lloris spot by the end of next season.
I don't know why people are overcomplicating things or think that most wide players peak at 28 and decline at 32 when there is no evidence for it whatsoever. Center backs, target men, DM and keepers peak closer to 27 or even 28 , but the wide and pace reliant players tend to peak as early as 24 or 25. A decline for a fullback at 28 like Trippier had is absolute nailed on normal stuff.I have said he is a good footballer, he had a good career at Tottenham and I’m certainly glad we had him. Every player has weaknesses and Trippiers were found last season with a weak midfield in front of him. I just think it’s time he moved on, I’m far from slating the guy.
This is sort of dumb because who knows if it will repeat itself, but my feeling based on last year is that losing Rose would hurt you in the CL but not bother you in the league really.I think moving on Tripper and Rose and getting in Sessegnon would be an improvent tbh. I still don’t think we are done in the market.
Spurs are odds on to sign Sessegnon from Fulham as their new LB. So id imagine Davies with Sessegnon in rotation.A swap of Rose for Kurzawa makes a ton of sense for PSG and Spurs since Rose could loaf through the Ligue 1 season, perform in the CL and for Spurs, Kurzawa is the kind of talented athletic type whose career has stagnated that Pochettino seems to do well at giving them instructions and a role that helps them, and at 26 he's got a couple nice years left.
True. If both Winks and Skipp do step up a level this season, then alongside Ndombele, Sissoko and Dier we'd have a pretty good set of CM options.I so hope Skipp can put in some performances like that when it really matters because it would be massive for the entire squad to have an energetic defensive midfielder playing at that level in the ranks.
Cheap at twice the cost. That’s a potentially life long affliction.
Terrible signing in hindsight unfortunately - it happens but glad we have finally sold him off.Janssen finally gone how the hell we got £7-10M for him I have no idea, 2 signings in now Mr Levy.
The risk with Eredivisie, seen many goal machines coming only to crumble, Janssen crumbled more than most.Terrible signing in hindsight unfortunately - it happens but glad we have finally sold him off.
Surely you didn't get that much for him! That's great business considering.Janssen finally gone how the hell we got £7-10M for him I have no idea, 2 signings in now Mr Levy.
Was looking into this more, it appears the fee from Monterrey is £6M rising to £8M, then we got a loan free from Fenerbahce of around £2M last year, that's where the £10M figure comes from, I am just glad he is gone.Surely you didn't get that much for him! That's great business considering.
