The inside looks a bit like Juve's new stadium, doesn't it? Should be a cracking atmosphere.

I like it, although I also like the current situation where only Stanley Park seperates our stadia.

If there's ever a ground that needs refurbishment its Goodison Park, went last year for the 4-0 demolishing the wooden seats/stand make Old trafford look like a modern classic

We are done baby making and I or my wife don't want a late one, coming 38 next month, seems the easiest choice but as the time ticks down I am getting a little more reluctant :annoyed:.
Omg sounds painful - what if you change your mind though?

An interesting design, pretty different to other new stadiums. Not sure I like it but that might just be the render of the metal roof surface. Big question though. Will it have a cheese room?

Looks better than the new Spurs stadium.

In a world of my own. People know me here.
Moshiri is minted. Though he also admits we need to start putting pressure on the team to get higher up the table.

I also imagine the reason for capacity is that clubs think that they can invest and potentially gain more from everything else that the stadium has to offer aside from capacity. Plus the design of this stadium is about atmosphere hence the fans being as close to the pitch as possible and the 'Yellow Wall' stand design.

EDIT: It will be a mix of Moshiri, sponsor (Selling rights to stadium name) and other private investments.
Everton supporters don't do banners & stuff like that though. That's something that helps create the atmosphere. It most certainly creates an intimidating spectacle for the opposition, & an inspiration for the home team. Is that something you can see changing, or will the club issue the blue plastic flags that the likes of Chelsea & City do for the big games ?

I'll be really sad to see Goodison go, one of my favourite old grounds along with Craven Cottage

won't have the new one on the banks of the river make access and crowd control quite tricky?

Eh...there have been plenty of banners at Goodison over the years.

I dislike Everton immensely.

Their fans were so smug as Moyes ruined us and they thought the Messiah was in charge at the time – Martinez.

How did that work out?

Nothing club.

Money.

I don't get this whole "let's build a new stadium from scratch" recent BS trend. Better improve the house that you already have, memories and all. And cheaper-quicker.
I don't see money being an issue with this. Our financial spend recently shows our owners personal wealth and private investment and sponsorship should get us over the line.

If you've been to Goodison you will know why they're not "improving the house they already have".

I also think it's worth noting that this stadium proposal also coincides with what we propose for the Goodison site - new homes/apartments/medical and educational facilities/green space/office space. We already have one of, if not the best community engagement projects with EITC and this will help that further and generate more income for the city/club overall.

Hmm. Still, getting rid of the old stadium...call me a romantic.

I like it for the most part. Only bit I'm not keen on is the roof but then I'm not keen on modernist architecture in general. Would square it all off or make it an octagon and use something other than glass. Feck it if it stops sunlight getting to the pitch, they have those portable growing lamp thingamabobs anyway these days and grassmaster surfaces.

Good old Archibald Leitch stands/stadiums, he played a part in both didn't he? He was prolific. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-48028660

So we had a general meeting the other night which was very interesting and I don't recall another club doing something like this so openly (maybe it happens all the time and I'm just not aware due to my investment with Everton).

From what I have been reading in and out of the web here is my gist on the whole situation and Everton currently.

1. Posted these in the newbies in reply to a few bits about the stadium...

Yes, we would be able to fill it eventually and with tourists. Liverpool is a big tourist hub and a fancy new stadium with similar gimmicks to the Spurs one will have it thriving. Funding is an issue. Financially we are quite sketchy right now and we need to make big changes at the club in terms of the wage bill as we are operating at a loss because of the silly decisions by previous managers in giving players huge contracts when they were signed which is why we are having trouble getting rid of people like Tosun, Martina and Niasse.

Moshiri is meeting sponsors quite regularly to try and get the funding needed to build the stadium and Usmanov (who was at Arsenal) has just paid 30m for naming rights to the stadium. It saddens me a little but if that is required to fund this new stadium I'm all for it as it will be an intergral part of our evolution as a club and to try meet the big targets and ambitions which we have.
Moshiri is wealthy but not wealthy enough to sustain the model we have been running + a new stadium in our current status. We have been running as a top 4 club with our player investment (both transfer and wage structure) while finishing mid table and providing a pitiful challenge for the European spots via both the league and the cups. It's just not sustainable at all if you do not achieve the results to match it and leaves the club in danger of going in a seriously worrying direction if the results don't start picking up and we sort out the deadwood we still have - something Brands has been trying to rectify. Thankfully our academy and our training facilities are of a very good standard but we really need to start getting the results on the pitch which is why they've gone big with Ancelotti. We really need to make the money count now, there can be no excuses.

The stadium will not happen without external investment which is why we are seeking Usmanov and a long term financial sponsor to pay for it and then hopefully be self funded after this initial 'boost' so to speak.

The whole situation puts into perspective the amazing job which Poch and Spurs did in the last couple of years tbh. Fighting at that top level with a mediocre wage and transfer budget due to funding a new stadium was a magnificent achievement.
2. The General Meeting.

Finances basically alluded to the above in regards to the stadium. If we get the funding in place then building will start this year, basically hinges on that as through all other avenues it has pretty much been given the go ahead.

Brands, our Director of Football gave an interesting presentation in regards to the transfer structure of the club. Our key objectives were to re-sign Gomes and Zouma on permanent deals and get a new striker. We tried really hard for Zouma but if you're being given the opportunity of first team at football at Chelsea it makes sense to stay. It does make me wonder if we will revisit that in the summer again depending on how the rest of the season goes for him. He also came out and said that we are working on transfers for Niasse and Martina which I was surprised by. When you're openly telling everyone you're trying to get rid of players it leaves you vulnerable but I think at this point we just need to get them off the wage bill. Since he's been here we have apparently done around 70 deals in total which he himself admits is far too much but is what happens when 4 different styles of managers have been through the doors in such a short space of time. Unfortunately Brands has been hit with the leftovers from Walsh and has spent most of his time trying to get the wage structure down while bringing in young players with potential who could still have some resale value. I know people will look at people like Kean, Iwobi, Mina etc from this and last season as wastes of money but they're young enough that if they don't end up working out we will still have resale value on them. If you look at Vlasic for example - we bought him, it didn't work out. Sent him on loan. Sold him for profit.

He also basically said that to sign Zaha is just not realistic at all considering the total cost. We can't buy players for 70/80m. I reckon the amount we spent on Richarlison was the limit. Structuring a deal in a way that it could reach a fee like 50m considering all objectives are completed but i think the initial fee we can realistically spend on players at the moment is around 40m max.

3. Ancelotti

I am warming more to him. I realise that can sound a bit mad as it's Ancelotti at Everton but that is part of the problem. It's an issue where some of the players might be a bit too starstruck and the fit doesn't work but under him and Ferguson we have 4 wins in 7 compared to 4 in 15 under Silva so that is already progress plus the system seems to fit the players a bit more. Time will tell obviously but I hope it does work out for him. He seemed happy and genuine at the meeting though. I do think he believes in the project and ambition of the club.

I like it. A lot of modern stadiums look awfully alike--at least this one doesn't look completely generic. The bowl from the inside does look a bit bland but I guess with today s "improved sight lines" there isn't a lot of originality to be had there. Still prefer the approach Pool took with regards to building out the original grounds and I hope OT will end up being retro fitted more along those lines than any discussion about a brand new stadium.

It looks innovative and good, but it’s something about the old school English grounds that the new continental ones can never match.

While these updated plans will not require the submission of a full new planning application, they will require a formal public consultation on the revised elements.

This consultation, led by the Council, is anticipated to last 28 days and will be an opportunity for everyone to comment on these additional features.

Following this, and due to the size of the application, Liverpool City Council may need to convene a special planning committee meeting towards the end of the year to give their determination to our application. The detail of this determination is likely to dictate whether the application will also need to be reviewed by central Government.

This additional local consultation, together with some aspects of the project relating to third parties having slowed slightly due to the impact of COVID-19, means that - subject to planning approval and finalising our funding packages - it is most likely that work could commence on-site early in 2021.

As there are currently so many factors over which we do not have direct control, it would be unwise to commit to a specific date when our build will commence - or when we are likely to be playing in the new stadium. However, we have every confidence in our project plan and the team we have assembled to deliver it. And, as I’m sure you know, everyone at the Club is entirely committed to getting us into a new home at Bramley-Moore Dock as soon as we possibly can.
I think that this is going to be a go-er sooner rather than later. The COVID situation has probably delayed it but actually helped in terms of the economic situation. This project will provide exactly what the Conservative government are pining for.

I think it looks good - I'm sure Everton fans are really excited about it and so they should be. Good luck to them I say.
