1 month away from starting the new season, one first team player was signed alongside a young winger from championship, no DOF was hired, no deadwood were shifted, we even lost a good player like Herrera.

This is shaping to be a similar summer to last one.

I have an optimistic feeling that we will make some movements. Ed usually delivers something to get the juices going after we doubt him. Think most windows we were satisfied with what we were buying but the turned out bad

Decent article thanks for sharing :) Good role for Butt as a link-man , a positive I can take from this is at least club are trying to help Ole. I for one would be happy for the club to make up as many positions as it took filled by key personal to give Ole the best chance of succeeding here. Although I was hoping for some news we actually had someone lined up for the job. i'll just keep on hoping.

When these technical director rumours started, they said one would be hired before the 2019/20 PL season. Less than 2 weeks time.

As that’s clearly not happening, I controversially ask.. Do we need one?

Although it’s way too early to say, the new system where Solskjaer, Phelan, Butt etc have a say seems to have kicked us off with two talents who already look to have potential exceeding their purchase prices. Could having a forward thinking manager and assistant who bleed United culture be enough?

Do we need one? Absolutely, it's shockingly clear we do. Are we getting one anytime soon? Very clearly not. So much hot air gets blown out from this club, I can't believe anyone takes any of it seriously anymore.

Ed masterclass incoming without CL football again.

James [done]
Maguire [done]
AWB [done]
Dybala [pending]
Bruno [possible]

Ed showcasing why he’s still a don. Let’s put some respect on his name. He should be fecking knighted if he pulls all this madness off !

No DM signing would be criminal. Besides, the role of a DoF is to plan for the long term so mad summers of complete rebuilds are unnecessary.

That won't happen. You guys are waaay to hard on Matic. With the emergence of McTom we have two capable players. You don't need world class players in every position. Besides, with Maguire in the pressure to have a quality DM eases off.

I agree Mctominay will do well there. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see some Lindelof or Jones at DM. I think Maguire and Bially could partner well (if Lindelof needs to slide into the DM as cover) and Smalling could as well.

A major part of our defensive frailty last season was our midfield not protecting the back 4 properly.

CB+RB was a bigger priority. We addressed that.

Can’t get everything in one go. DM+RW will likely get taken care of next summer. We have McTominay & Matic who can fill that role for now and even Fred.

Woody knows this fan base is super gullible. Every time he will be under some scrutiny he'll just brief the press about us being close to getting a DoF. Then do absolutely nothing and just let the story die. Smart businessman. Think about it, why would anyone deliberately give up power when they don't have to?

Can’t believe this fraud had us believing he changed for the better.

Top tier acting on his phone and all pretending to be discussing a move to finalize Dybala etc when he was just ordering a box of donuts. Feck off.

I mean, it is entirely your fault for getting sucked in by transfer muppetry, but by all means go off.

Another window where we need wholesale changes.

Whether you rate them or not, we’ve lost Fellaini, Herrera and Lukaku and spent less than 100m net trying to improve the side.

We are going backwards.

The Glazers and Woodward are beyond idiotic for resisting a change that will only benefit the club and them immensely. A DOF, especially elite talent spotters like Campos with huge networks can help the club, if given space and platform, be more efficient in the market. We have just broken world records for a fullback and a CB when we arguably needed a CM and a RW which in itself is shocking because I would have imagined that we would spread whatever money we had around critical needs for the team. With a DOF running the recruitment on a full time basis I think it was doable.

This window has been a disaster and will hurt us in many ways than one. Players have been rejecting us left, right and centre imagine what would happen next summer if we miss out on CL football again. Our prospects compared to our rivals will be significantly worse to new signings and we would likely have lost Pogba or facing the threat of losing him.Without a couple of midfield reinforcements I don't see us making top 4 which will further complicate any future rebuild. The best business we can do is to sign an elite DOF and give him power to build a team otherwise things are going to get worse.

Woodward is an egomaniac who will never let go of his power willingly - "Watch this space", "We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of". Glazers will never fire him because he keeps bringing them money and helped them with the disastrous takeover of the club.

Whenever the club is hitting new lows he'll leak the news that he's looking for a DOF, or leak some "internal email" that tries to absolve himself from blame.

He is the worst thing to happen to this club in recent period.

As I said before: Marcel Brandts is doing a great job at Everton, has done a great job at PSV before that, has an extensive network and has shown to have a long term vision. He can do great things at Old Trafford
