Is he though? I've spent all summer zipping and unzipping to guys bam

He isn't really, though is he? So far we've gotten AWB and a young prospect. It's a week before the window shuts and there are conflicting reports on Bruno and Maguire being done, all related to money the club is willing to spend. The Dybala option is dumb luck falling into our laps with Juve interested in Lukaku probably because Inter can't move quick enough themselves to let Icardi go the other way.

If anything, its a complete clusterfeck and we may end up lucky rather than an orchestrated attempt to have a good window to back the manager.
We are definitely going for the likes of Maguire £70m and Bruno £55m. The rumors are well founded and there is no reason for any fans to doubt it. We may not want to pay the premium price, but there is certainly interest. Hard to say he isn’t backed with those addition when we would once again outspend most of our rivals with it if it goes through.

The Dybala rumor, I m not so sure about. It seems to good to be true; exchanging lukaku for him. However, the other two the interest was there for awhile and it isn’t a clysterfeck but rather a well orchestrated attempt to back the manager and ensure we dot get mugged because we have enough money to buy a country.

I think you missed what I said. my initial post was I do not know how we can fit Pogba, Bruno and Dybala. But even if Pogba goes, how is Dybala the replacement? losing 3 CM's and signing 2 CAM's?
Ah, I replied to a reply to that post and added you in an edit. I guess you weren't notified.

Well he was wrong about Maguire - he trained with Leicester today, which rules out the possibility of us agreeing a deal to sign him yesterday.

Are you kidding? If he tells me we will be talking with Messi's agent tomorrow and signing Messi next week, i'll believe him totally as well

He says what he gets from the clubs . If the club tries to fake interest through a leak, he still reports it. At least he doesn't pull anything from air.

I still think this Dybala link is just a ploy to increase the offer for Lukaku (from Inter) or reduce the asking price for Bruno. Very much think we will sign only one of Dybala or Bruno and mostly it will be Bruno.

Di Marzio reminds me of his fellow Sky reporters Kaveh Solhekol and Jim White. He reads the news and once multiple sources report a story, he reports it as his.

He said we had finalized a deal for Maguire yesterday.
That's a vague meaning. Not sure how he means by the words for or with as it would read: for Maguire (deal with LC for player) v. with Maguire (contract terms agreed between player and club, but clubs yet to agree on transfer fee). It's been reported consistently Maguire would accept a transfer and looks like he's sorted compensation/wage with United at least. The obvious final hurdle is the transfer transaction between clubs.

You don't know much about him, then.

I love it and I hope he'll drop even more United hashtags. He was onto something, when he was religiously repeating that Juve is close to De Ligt.

Drop. More. Bombs.

What a bloody squad that would be. I’d be over the moon with that. One can hope. Let’s all pray.

He was not very vague, he said that "after reaching an agreement for Harry Maguire yesterday we were one step away from agreeing a deal for Bruno Fernandes. Talks with Sporting are in the final stages."

I emphasized the word for because that implicitly refers to a deal between the clubs and not with the player otherwise it would say we had an agreement with Maguire. He clearly meant it as to say an agreement with LCFC as his comments regarding being close to a deal for Bruno state that we are talking to Sporting. Considering LCFC have reiterated that we have made no new bid since they rejected 70m weeks ago and today both Sporting and United have gone on the record saying the Bruno stuff is fantasy and there has been no contact and it is starting to look like Di Marzio is somewhere below Spoofex on Reddit for credibility.

I'm not sure why his reputation is on the line though? DiMarzio never says a deal is done until he's certain it's done. Other than that, he gives more 'live' updates of ongoing negotiations to the level of detail nobody else can. Out of the three transfers he's mentioned, he's only stuck out his neck on Maguire whilst Bruno Fernandes and Dybala deals are ongoing currently but not done yet, and can yet swing. DiMarzio has in the past corrected fans when they've said he said a deal is done and he's asked them provide evidence and the evidence shows that negotiations happened, but a deal was not done.

So until he says deal done, you can't fault him for lettings us know that Utd are trying to sign Dybala and Fernandes.

Sporting have come out and poo pooed him, saying all the rumors are false !
Not sure that means much to be honest, as clubs routinely deny talks happening only for said player to leave shortly after the denial

EDIT: The Sports Witness article says that RTP spoke to sources at Sporting who denied a deal is in place for Bruno to sign for Utd after the Portuguese Supertaça and that's not inconsistent with what DiMarzio is saying. DiMarzio said Utd are close to and in the last stages of reaching a deal with Sporting, not that a deal has been agreed

He seems to be clued up on Italian transfers. His record with foreign clubs is basically pretty awful isn't it?

Wait for BBC to confirm our interest boys and do yourselves a favour jeez.

Something doesn’t add up though. Ole clearly speaks of 1-2 signings, not three. Maguire + Dybala or Maguire + Bruno is the question?

I mentioned in the Twitter thread but I think it's likely to be Dybala or Bruno, Maguire or a different CB I think is a definite.

BBC has confirmed our Maguire and Dybala interest though.

Further, just last week he was laughed at here on the caf for saying Arsenal's leading the race to sign Pepe...well look now.

Could more of a 'say thing' than Ole meaning explicitly that we'd only get one or two players in. I think he's just meaning to convey that we're working a few deals at the moment

Future of transfer windows now I reckon since the change of the deadline day.

People always made stuff up really badly but it kind of went unnoticed at times how bad it was due to the window being open for longer and transfers being stretched out. Now I reckon most deals will be done in the last week of the window in a massive flurry.

The Kean deal is a good example of a transfer timeline though. Di Marzio stated we were interested and had opened talks two weeks ago and now it seems to be going over the line.

The short window means

1. people like Di Marzio will look better than they did already.
2. People like that sky sports bloke that talks bollocks is noticed more for talking bollocks.
3. A lot of business will be done in the last week.
In a big fan of the shorter window and having your team set by the start of the season

I personally think Dybala would be Pogba's replacement and Bruno would be Herrera's (Lukaku's minutes being replaced by giving more time to Rashford, Martial, Greenwood & James).

There's a chance we could bring in three on the thought that Real may well pay up towards the end of August and we wouldn't want to be short.

If I may piss on the parade for a minute is no one else concerned about adding 3 new players into the starting XI when none have had a pre-season with us?

Someone mentioned it has vibes of LVG's first summer and we remember how that went spectacularly wrong at Leicester

Not a concern for anyone? Ok in that case bring them in!!!

Leicester? we lost at home to Swansea first, then drew away to Sunderland and burnley before that Leicester game.

It wasn't until the QPR game that all the summer signings started at the same time though

If you bring in Maguire, Fernandes and Dybala for money and Lukaku. I don't give a flying feck about pre season. We could give them a month to gain fitness and then integrate them into the starting lineup.

Maguire and Fernandes have done a full pre season anyway and it's just Dybala who is on holiday after Copa America.

I believed the hype and got sucked into this shit again....
