McTominay really doesn’t suit the deeper role, he’s been at his best for us as B2B.
He isn’t going to play box to box for this year. Fred isn’t good enough to be in the squad let alone be a defensive mid. So Scott and Matic have to play that role.

We need someone a little more mobile, agile.
People talk like he is the slowest footballer to ever grace the football pitch. Pirlo was slow. Xavi was slow. Good footballers know their negatives and find a way to work around it. This lad is young, strong and capable of pulling together some amazing passes.

More like a year ago he was completely overhyped until people saw his real level. He’s a more dynamic Fellaini. Sure a good squad option but not for the type of football we want to play under Ole/Mckenna.
Like playing possession football, capable of holding up the ball, not lose the ball easily or capable of playing passes from tight situations to our forwards to start counter attacks? Cause he is capable of all that and will add goals.

What a ridiculous comparison. Those two also have technique out of this world. Savic is bang average technically.

Of course he will, we don’t even play with a DM at the moment, we haven’t all pre-season.

I think we're just all very nervous about making out like he will be a good replacement for Pogba.

Most people I've asked or seen giving opinions don't rate SMS anywhere near Pogba. Pogba is such a big and important player to our team I wonder whether it'll be too much, we can't expect just 1 player to carry it like he did.

No he isn’t and no he most definitely won’t. Seven goals last season. Either he’s the same nationality as you or you’re going off hype.

I never said he is capable of replacing Pogba or is as good as Pogba. If we lose Pofba we will sign Fernandes and Savic. That helps so it’s not all on him to do everything.

Umm...he is absolutely not a Pirlo or a Xavi type player and that is precisely the problem.

Yeah playing for Lazio in the Italian league. And he scored 14 the season before. Playing with better players in a better system will add more to your game and the goals will come.

To be fair, SMS apparently played a deeper midfield role last season, and he won the Seria A best midfielder of the year award.

I think he's been less hyped but quitely went ahead and had a good season.

I didn’t literally make a comparison to them. I was just comparing their mobility to his.
I know what you were trying to say that's why I added "type" in my response. But those players made up for their lack of mobility by being the best passers in the world, dictating tempos of games and having unreal footballing IQs. That is not Savic.

Did he? Can't find anything about it anywhere other than a fourfourtwo article.

What Pirlo and Xavi lacked in their mobility they made up for it more than enough in their ability to move the ball. You don't need to be fast if you can move the ball 60 yards with pin-point accuracy. Savic isn't really a player with the technique to be able to do that. He suits more box-to-box at best because he isn't good at either being a deeper play maker or an attacking creative player. For a box-to-box midfielder mobility is one of the main attributes. Fellaini comparisons aren't great but he reminds me more of Bakayoko. Okay player but we have to aim higher.

I would consider a midfield trio of SMS, Bruno and McTominay with Dybala as a false 9/ no 10.

Man City plays with two very attacking-minded midfielders with David Silva and De Bruyne.

I think he's perfect for it. Disciplined. Hardworking, strong and can pass. He could be developed into a great DM

Mct
Bruno - SMS
Would be the best midfield we've had in years

If Pogba is not leaving and we are going to sign Bruno, there is no need to sign Savic this season. We can sign Saul or Savic (still I'm unable to guess on what impact he will have in EPL) next season.

Easily explainable- he played a deeper role last season

I wouldn’t really compare him with Pogba. I think this guy is more destined to be a complete 6 or 8. Pogba will always be the more offensive player. It depends what you want from a midfield really.

Personally I think Bruno- McT - Savic would be very strong, perhaps our most complete midfield for years. Whereas I’m not convinced that Bruno - McT - Pogba would be as effective. It’s more about the sum of all parts than who the best player is individually

What do you mean by a more mobile Fellaini? Fellaini covered a helluva lot of ground having been a long distance runner in his youth. He just lacked any agility or acceleration.

I would prefer Savic over Dybala (I also like Dybala, but Savic Will give a more cohesive approach). But let's be honest, that swap of Lukaku for Dybala is too good for turn it down.

This one's a Pogba failsafe.if pogba doesn't leave nothing will happen so with the lack of movement so far from real you'd expect this thread to be quiet.

This guy is the shit that just wont flush. He is very overrated on here for the price he is being quoted at. He is a 40 million rated player but im seeing figures around 80-90 which is hilarious. Not technically gifted like Pogba and also doesn't play a very traditional role. Why again are we interested in this guy replacing pogba? He also plays further up the pitch which is a position we currently dont need. If its between him and Bruno fernandes I'd always take the technically gifted midfielder who also works his ass off. Lazio can keep him and stop creating fake rumors that were interested.

So with Dybala and Fernandes looking like dead ends, could this guy be a target for us? Mctominay SMS Pogba would look great on paper.

this guy seems to have made it clear he wants to come to us - which is more than can be said for the Bales, Fernandes and Dybala's of this world. I haven't seen him for a full 90 mins for ages but he looked pretty good back in the day
