Dybala>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lingard

I would rather have Dybala on no10/rw and Jones in midfield than Lingard and Bruno combo

I'll go for Bruno. Dybala ended up a benchwarmer at Juventus and even Sarri an attacking coach doesn't want him either to the point Juve are willing to offload him for Lukaku.

I think people are just hearing Dybala and getting excited. Truth of the matter he was awful last season and isn't exactly what people think he is. He lacks pace, his end product(last season especially) was quite awful and I still don't see much upside to this deal beside the name. Bruno for me.

Dybala is the much better player and has proven himself at the highest level. We can play him as a striker.
No you can't. Dybala is a system player who needs to be accommodated in a specific position for him to shine right(SS, 10) otherwise he's mostly bust. And last season he was a downright flop for Juventus. Dybala lacks pace or anything of sort to help him be a striker in the PL. At Juve they tried to play him as a striker a few time to mostly disappointing results.

And coming from last season, Dybala being this much better player is an utter myth. The guy is just coming out of a terrible season, he doesn't have that option or luxury of being called the much better player right now. People just have this weird fantasy of Dybala, not the player he is actually is right now.

Fernandes, mostly because it's clear Dybala doesn't want to come here. A happy Fernandes will be better than a miserable Dybala.

Much as I would love Dybala here I will say Bruno, I just feel he'd bring more to the bigger picture. We need to replace Hererra properly and add goals from midfield, Bruno can do this perfectly.

Dybala screams trouble to everything Ole has been trying to do with the squad. I don’t get why the club would pursue the transfer, given the speculation regarding his demands.
I’m not convinced he would be the answer to our problems going forward and think we could do a lot better for £80m and the amount of wages he will want.

Our last buy from a lower profile league was Fred, and that hasn't worked out too well. Bruno would be quite the gamble IMO, all he really has to back him up is stats from a lower league.

At least Dybala has a clearly high level of technique and physicality that will translate, as well as very good stats in a top league.

Thank you. A lot of uninformed posts. Not saying we should get Fernandes either but not sure what people are expecting of Dybala. He is currently surplus to requirements at Juve. People need to ask themselves why, a bit like posters were creaming themselves over Sanches despite his form falling off a cliff at Arsenal.

Dybala has only ever been a possible Mata upgrade. Thats it and whether we need it now strategically is another question that should be asked.

Haven't really seen enough of Bruno to make an informed decision. But i've always stated Dybala is over rated so that's a concern. I mean he'll improve our squad because clearly he's a good player but he's not the player everyone thought he'd turn out to be. A bit like Martial I guess.

Bruno without doubt. I think Dybala would struggle in England and he'd only be coming to United for the pay day.

Genuinely dont understand why anyone would want Bruno Fernandes over Dybala. Most likely they have the wrong image of what Bruno Fernandes actually is.
If we play a 4231 or a 4312, they'll basically play the same position. That's as the #10. So assuming Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Pogba and McTominay are the other 5 attackers/midfielders, how can anyone e look at that and think we need Bruno Fernandes more?

Dybala is far more proven, in a bigger league, while there is less than a year between them in age. Dybala has far more talent and potential talent ability for the level that he can reach. Dybala is far better technically, and a better goalscorer, and far more dynamic than Bruno.

Bruno Fernandes is a good player, don't get me wrong, but it's very much up in the air what his level actually is, and whether he could perform well in a tougher league, let alone the premier league. He previously played at Udinese and Sampdoria as an actual midfielder and didn't do all that well, and went back to the Portuguese league with Sporting, where he played as a #10. The same position that Dybala would play in. Last season he had a great season, but one that is very unsustainable from a statistical point of view because of how much he over performed in terms of his shooting. So many shots from range turned into goals because of shite goalkeeping in the Portuguese league and against weaker opposition. He has Memphis mk2 all over him IMO. A decent player who had a great output in a weak league but won't be able to transfer that to the Premier League, especially not if he's asked to play as an actual midfielder (as that's not his best position). Postion wise for him, think Eriksen type of player. In terms of play style, a looser, less refined, much more shot focused rather than creative version of Eriksen. That's not at all what we need and I just think he'd flop here, partly because of the type he is, but also a large part because his type isn't what United need right now. Would suit Liverpool more in their set up IMO.
This is spot on. Only thing i disagree on is that Dybala is far more dynamic that Bruno. This depends on what you define as being dynamic.

A big club would and should by both, especially a club that is a million miles off Champions League standards.

Bruno Fernandes for me.

I get that Dybala is arguably more proven, definitely more experienced and has performed well previously in a stronger league. But with Fernandes, I just get that excitement factor, when he gets the ball I'll just be on the edge of my seat waiting to see what he can do with it and I think over a full season in the PL I'd expect similar numbers from them. Maybe even slightly more from Bruno. I also think he has more energy to his game and pace, which would suit us more with what Ole is trying to do.

Regardless, I think either of them coming to us is a 2-3 year thing unfortunately, before they'd move to Spain or even PSG. Hopefully we get one or both, and they're amazing for us.

I like this post. Agree that I am leaning towards Fernandez because my feeling is that Dybala is a bit of a loose cannon in that he already appears to be making things difficult. Also think he might be the type to disappear when things aren't going well. I wonder why there has not been a lot of interest from the big clubs in Europe if he is the real deal.

Fernandez strike me as being a real workaholic and will keep going even in bad times, certainly has good ball skills and an eye for a chance. Time will tell who if either make it to OT.

It’s funny that people moan about Lingard and Mata for months and months and yet when we make moves in the market that should hugely mitigate their playing time people suggest we don’t have room in the squad for them.

I can see some sense in signing both. We will then have Pobga, Dybala and Bruno keeping the ball centrally, being creative and arriving later into the attacking third. Martial and Rashford streches play, and two of Shaw, Mctominay and Wan-Bissaka takes the runs from deep, while the last one balances along the CBs.

Might be difficult to places them all in a formation, but in theory this should be a good game plan.

Dybala because he's apparently the only one we are in talks to sign.

Not that difficult. 4-4-2 diamond.

DDG
AWB-Lindelof-(Maguire)-Shaw
McTominay
Bruno-Pogba
Dybala
Rashford-Martial

All it would take is one sub to switch to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 too. Sure this formation is a bit top heavy and we might need a more defensive midfielder than McTominay to balance it out but it could work well against the smaller sides.

They play different positions -- so its not one or the other.

But give a choice of one, I will take Bruno. I have a cat named Bruno. I think it will be fun to hear his name on the telly and him looking around.

Dybala's class, we're actually playing a formation that accommodated him and he's a huge upgrade on everyone else we have for that position. If it's possible to get Dybala, we should jump at the chance!

That could work, but it relies heavily on us getting Maguire. If Smalling plays, Pogba will need to drop deep to pick up the ball (Because of no Matic) and Dybala and Bruno must drop deep to link up with Pogba. This will completely isolate Martial and Rashford.

It will also make us narrow, as Shaw and Wan-Bissaka must hold their runs until we have played the ball out of defense.

Swapping Lukaku for Dybala is a good deal for both sides... with the space Lukaku would get beside Ronaldo he will flourish... and he'll also be a great flat-track bully for Juve, meaning Ronaldo can focus more on the big games.

For all of Lukaku's qualities, he's not proven to be suited for what Ole wants from his CF, and we have SO much young talent in forward areas that needs to develop.

I wanted Fernandez all summer, but rather than sign both, I'd swap Lukaku for Dybala and then prioritise CD and DM.

Fernandes, tired of all these mercenaries. At the most basic level of football you want a team of eleven players who actually want to be at the club.

I would prefer SMS and Pepe, but out of those 2 I would go for dybala as I haven't watched enough of Bruno and his highlights shows that he plays in a league with awful keepers.

Shouldn't be a question of 1 or the other as they won't get in each others way eoth regards to selection. Bruno will play in a 3 man midfield and Dybala will either play as a false 9 or on the right in an interchangeable 3 man attack. We need both

The Argentina chants would be fun again, but you never know if this might be another deal that ends up going sour in some way.... Veron/Di Maria/Tevez/Heinze.

they are very different players and offer a different set of versatility. The question is do you know what type of player Dybala is?

Dybala for me is a modern day Recoba. You can play him out wide but he has limited effect there. Where you'll get the best is second striker. he is more second striker than AMC which are different roles. In games when not playing SS, you can also move Dybala out wide in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1.

Bruno on the other hand is more of a Lampard in that he can play AMC or as an 8. different players. Fernandes can cover centre midfield in a 4-3-3 or AMC in a 4-2-3-1.

they come with different roles/potential roles in each formation. I'd prefer Bruno because we could do 4-3-3 with either Bruno or Pogba as the 8 in tough away games. That said, you made a good point about whether this is a true reflection of Bruno ability and on that note, I have changed my mind to preferring Dybala. what I want is for United to line up like France in the world cup and dybala to be our Griezman. The issue is we either need Fred/Anderson to fix the feck up or sign another CM. Think about this, Dybala is a Lukaku swap, and we have signed a FB and hopefully a CB. we would still be lacking a Herrera replacement but I always maintained that if we can get a lethal attack, we can hold fire on the CM
