Lot to live up to with a strong name like that! £10m is serious money though for that age...you wonder if there are any PL regulars available at that price to fit in the squad.

We all love United
when has a 16 year old ever gone straight into the first team squad for United? you are talking some proper nonsense.
Rooney and Fabregas did and started first team games in the Premier league. But you are right for United. Mason played for the first team last season at 17, that isn’t far away

We wouldn't want a PL regular to fit in with our U18s/U23s though, cause that's where Mejbri's going to be playing. Also, any actual PL regular available for £10m is usually pretty poor.

the point is it's incredibly rare - you're talking about two of the best PL players there - and non existent for us.

Watched a few full Monaco u17 games to see him in action.

He's a playmaking #8 with the ability to control the tempo of the game which was pleasing to see. Alot of the play goes through him and he's constantly looking to get on the ball. He even helps with the build up from the back by coming deeper to receive the ball from the CBs to help with the transition. Technically very good and has excellent passing/vision. But what really stood out for me was his decision making and his know how on controlling the pace of the game from midfield at such a young age.

It's easy to see why United have invested alot of money in him.

Excellent work. Sounds very promising. Hopefully it's all wrapped up now.

Cannot be bothered to go through the thread but has anybody suggested yet that his chant should be 'Hey I just met you and this is crazy but here's my number so call me Mejbri'?

Don't think he is signing for the first team at all
No of course not, but makes you think now looking at a player like Manzukic - 13m or similar amount. He is not going to be a stand out players/older will get a few games but it's probably a much better use of that £.

If we are trying to frugal! But feck it why not both

There is a very good team forming in the 17-21 age range :

Put Mejbri in there as well and I guess it's Nicky butts job to get as many of this lot really ready for pl football.

Chong.............greenwood..............James
...........gomes.....................mejbri..............
...........................garner..............................
Mitchel.....tuanzebe........laird...........dalot
..............................kovar...........................

If half of that lot fulfil their potential the 2020's could be looking good for us

I'm personally not expecting much of Mejbri this season other than games with the u18 and u23 squad... Perhaps an appearance off the bench or if we send out the kids in the league cup

But I don't see is closing the gap to Man city in 1 season so I quite like the fact there seems to be some longer term strategy and planning

And just remembered rashford is still only 21 as well!

We've also signed Noam Emeran for a big fee and he looks a very promising young winger in the making. Then you have Dillon Hoogewerf who we signed from Ajax and is a striker and was considered a huge talent in the Ajax academy. We've also signed a winger from Zaragoza (Mejia) who scored goals at a prolific rate in the Zaragoza junior teams. Forson and Shoretire are also big talents that will stake their claim.

The future looks very rosy and I for one am looking forward to seeing how the youngsters develop in the coming seasons.

Mitchell is a bit shit and also 22. Stick Brandon Williams in there instead.

Kovar is a bit shit, Laird is a right-back and Mitchell won’t make it. Otherwise looks good.

Monaco have a YouTube channel where they live stream u17 and u19 games. The games are still there to view if anyone is interested.

This generations academy is really impressive. The lads we’ve bought in the past for bigger fees and wages have really pushed hard towards the first team too so it seems this is a genuine real long term solution. Pogba, Rossi, Pique, Da Silvas, Adnan, Pereira... obviously some of the players are total punts too but I think the lads we are bringing in now are absolute top notch prospects who’ll have been promised a route into the first team as soon as possible. I really this this is the way to go. Sprinkling of long term planning on the first team and we are a force again over the next few years. Very pleasing.

Edit if we could add sancho to that list how cool would that be? An amazing mix of youth and experience then. It’s really down to us giving the right coaching and implementing a ruthless style again over the next few years.

Talents I'm most hopeful of are (separated by potential and performances). Hopeful of course meaning 1 out of 3-5 or so could become a first teamer.

Greenwood
Gomes
Garner
Tuanzebe

Laird
Hoogewerf*
Shoretire*

O'Connor
Levitt
Puigmal
Williams

* meaning that it's based more on talent. Still need to see Mejia, Mejbri (more of him), Forson, and Emeran. Hoogewerf, from what I've heard and seen, seems to be rated just after Gravenberch and Unuvar. That's high praise and the videos I've seen of him confirm that.He looks two footed, and at his age can grow another inch or two which should change his outlook a bit.

More like the original Pogba signing imo. We signed him as the captain of the French youth team.

In terms of style the clips make him look like a Modric style player
Been quite down about the resurgence of fascism and climate change but if we've signed the next Modric then yeah alright not bad.

Please don't tell me Pele and Maradona were better than Messi.
Hard to compare as never saw Pele and Maradona was before the likes of Sky so Barcelona, Napoli games hardly ever saw, it was more world cup games. But for me at least from when I did watch him, yes dont even have to think about it, he was better than Messi.

This is a player who pretty much won Serie A and got Argentina to a world cup final almost single handedly he made that much of a difference to average sides he was playing in. He also won the world cup with Argentina with one of the best goals of all time against us. What Pele, Maradona and even fat Ronaldo did for there national sides Messi has never managed.

Messi and our Ronaldo of course deserve there places as some of the very best players of all time, but for me Maradona really was on another level to both of them with his ability. I would also say fat ROnaldo probably was too ability wise, injuries his whole career blighted him even early on but more so as his career went on, but Ronaldo in Serie A just making fools of some of the best defenders of all time and his exploits for Brazil, many seem to remember more the Real Madrid days when everything had caught up with him and he was still great then as his hat trick against us showed.

Is all of course opinion and Messi is truly phenomenal, but better than Maradona, absolutely not

Any indication when this will be confirmed?
He's still a youth transfer so could be a while before he gets international clearance.

I know absolutely nothing about this player but it's imperative that we sign him so I can say "I love it when a plan comes together".

Obviously it’s all down to opinions but the sheer longevity of Messi and Ronaldo makes them better than Maradona and Pele. Pele is deemed the best in history because of winning 3 world cups, which is all of 15 games back when he played. Messi has being scoring 50+ goals every season for over 10 years now. I would say he single handily got them to the 2014 World Cup final but lost in extra time. He’s been unlucky in the Copa America. For me Maradona has more of a shout of being the goat.

Thats the best career of all time or best stats. Forgetting international football which is another thing, in terms of pure ability Messi isnt even close to Maradona, still wrong thread anyway
