Penalty Boro. Sluga kept Boro out twice but Cranies diving tackle was way too late. Possibly outside, but so close it was hard to determine. But Assombalonga blasts the penalty over the bar. Luton are really lucky to still be in this game.

3-3 Collins. Slots home after Potts' shot has been blocked. Poor defending from Boro allowed Luton to come 3 against 2. Boro ran out after clearing a corner and the ball was lifted in behind their advancing players. Boro could have been 3 goals up by now, and must kick themselves after wasting HUGE chances.

What a great way to welcome league football back. Incredible game, not the best quality, but wildly entertaining.

Randolph with a magnificient save in the 92 minute to deny Collins the winner.

Just saw Tunnicliffe plays for Luton. How's he getting on there?

3-3 and Boro really will be kicking themselves. They had 3 big chances to put the game to bed, but when Assombalonga hammered that penalty over the bar...…

Randolph and Sluga superb in goal in the second half after both had a really poor first half.

Good game to start with quality goals scored poor defending though. Middlesbrough would be disappointed with the result.

Quite impressed with Boro considering they haven't really signed anyone, going to play with a lot more freedom under Woodgate.

Luton still playing on mental factor, they haven't lost at home in the league since March 2018. They'll stay up comfortably as have plenty of goals in their squad.

Another 90 minutes of beautiful chaos in the championship.

We should have had a pen, blind ref but glad to get a draw and not start off with a loss! Buzzing seeing Luton in the championship again!

Good game between Luton and Boro. Luton coming from League 2 to the Championship within two seasons isn't the only reason they'll ship goals this season, their manager is Roberto Martinez former assistant, Graeme Jones.

I think Leeds are a good bet as long as they finish top 2. I don't like their chances of going up via the playoffs. If Swansea can rediscover themselves, i hold out some hope for them too.

Watch me be completely wrong, because the Championship is weird sometimes, but I’d have Leeds, Cardiff, Fulham, West Brom, Brentford as the top five. Not necessarily in that order.

I am sceptical - I thought their defense looked shaky even before losing Jansson, afterwards it was really poor. So I would expect Leeds to yet again lose out on a promotion spot.

Fulham were awful in the P.L - but on paper have the best squad. They have lost Feri and Babel, but got in Knockeart who has shown that he is more than good enough for this level. They are my favourites. Cavaleiro probably can replace Babel quite well. They probably have the best midfielder in Cairney and by far the best striker in Mitrovic. That should be enough.

WBA would also be a good bet for top 3-4. Lost Dawson and Rondon - but Sawyers, Ajayi, Furlong and Krovinovic are decent replacements. The question is - do they have enough goalscorers in the side ?

I also expect Brentford and Bristol City to challenge for play-off spots at least.

Stoke could also be interesting. Lindsay had a good season for Barnsley. Stephen Ward is very experienced. Lee Gregory will probably score 10-15 goals and Nick Powell could be one of the signings of the season.

So imo - Fulham on paper by far the strongest - WBA, Stoke, Bristol C, Leeds, Brentford and Cardiff should all be up there - and there Always will be 1-2 surprises.

Interesting to see a number of you pick Bristol City as dark horses. We've sold two defenders for nearly £35m and haven't really replaced them so the back line which served us so well won't be as robust this season.

Going forward we still need a goal scorer. There were pretty strong rumours we would get the Arsenal youngster Nekitah on loan but that hasn't materialised. Emery unsuprisingly wants to probably keep hold after his scoring exploits this pre season.

Keep an eye out for Brentford, it's about bloody time their good football translated in another play off crack.

In fairness they've lots the full backs from last season to premier league clubs, James Justin went to Leicester and Bournemouth signed the other one so that will impact aswell.

Did the new, earlier transfer deadline in the PL become a thing in the Championship too or is it still the end of the month?

Well Deidhiou scored 13 last year and Weimann had brilliant end to the season, he tends to score in bunches. At back you signed Kalas full time didn't you and got likes of Baker and Bailly Wright. Think you've signed Jay Da Silva full time, he really impressed me from left back at Villa Park last season.

Bristol need to step up and get play off place this year. Previous couple of years they've been a mini version of Leeds, good runs up to new year and then fall away in last few months.

Think Lee Johnson needs to calm down a bit when you go on a run. He's usually all over the press and radio saying how great he is and then next thing you've lost five in a row and season is pretty much over. Probably wouldn't be worst thing if you go out of the cups early aswell.

As you say I think Boro fans will be delighted watching this sort of football after the stuff they had to endure under Pulis.

Answering my own question so nobody else does. The Championship transfer window closes at the same time as the Premier League one. Thursday at 5pm. League One and Two still open until Monday 2nd of September.

Was asking because I was thinking of trying to take an earlyish stab at predicting who will go up/down etc. Might even have a bet on it, but I wanted to see all the transfers first.
