Your post is conflicting with its self do you not agree with it being a gimmick, even though the movie is bang average with without the 3d gimmick
Not conflicting at all.
Movie = bang average.
True 3D quality that it was filmed in = mind (and eyes) blown.
Gimmick? It was where the whole money was spent ffs.

Really? Why? Apart from being absolute dogshit in terms of the actual story, it hardly has visuals that still stand up to what we get nowadays. It's outdated in every sense.
I think we can all agree the story was shit. I think you guys had a poor cinema experience if you didn't see what Avatar brought to the table. It wasn't the story, that was shit. One more time the story was shit.

I was totally blown away from my immersive experience at the Waterloo Imax. I have never experienced such 3D and probably never will until Avatar 2. If some you guys only watched this in shitty cinemas or large screen home TVs then I am truly sorry you missed out.

For the record I have never watched Avatar in 2D or 3D at home. The movie wasn't worth my time in that format. But if the Waterloo Imax rerun Avatar as build up to Avatar 2 then my credit card will be ready for however much they undoubtedly will over-charge me.

I watched it IMAX as well. The novelty ran out pretty soon.

Saw it. It was alright. First hour was very very dull but the other two were decent. Best bit was Thor talking to his mum.

One thing. They're supposed to take all the infinity stones and deliver them back to the other time lines at the exact point in time they took 'em right? How does that work with the soul stone and Black Widow?

Just saw this. I'm so glad they didn't completely stuff this film with the most horrendous clichés.

I watched it last night too.
Very good impression in general, too many things don't make sense to me but not sure if it's worth talking about them.
Among the minor things I didn't like is how they basically ruined the Hulk and Thor.
I still prefer I.F

It was ok I guess. Just expected it to be better after infinity war, which I really liked.

This film was just so cringe. I mean, the girl power bit.. holy shit. good thing it was at the end of the film or I would have really struggled to finish it. How much can they make something feel forced?

I found a lot of things funny instead of cringy, though that moment you are talking about was just so obvious, what was the need for it?

Watched it a few days ago for the first time, I really enjoyed the movie, it was the culmination of 10 or more other ones and it will always be difficult to put it all in, even if they made it almost 3 hours. The Thor and Hulk part were hilarious to me, only bit I didn't like was how Captain America suddenly could wield Mjolnir and the fact he will die of old age, instead of going out as a proper hero like Iron Man did.

I hope they broaden the Marvel universe even more now, there are many incredible storylines from the comics that can be adapted well to movies or TV series, like Daredevil was done, for example.

He always could have lifted it. He gave it a wiggle in Age of Ulton and decided not to so as not to upstage Thor and just show-off. That's why Thor said "I knew it!" when Cap used the hammer when he actually needed to.

This is not me speculating by the way, it's what the Russo's have said happened.

Every single frame with Captain Marvel is absolutely dogshit. Especially the initial bit where she meets with the avengers and has that disgusting smug look. Felt like hitting the screen.

I mean, he did move it a little bit but I'm not sure he wasn't trying. If the producers say it is so though, then it is.

I honestly liked her movie a few times more than any of the scenes she was in Endgame. Why did they have to make her character in the vein of "yeah, I'm better and stronger than all of you weaklings"...?

The girl power bit is the most cringe thing I have ever seen in a Marvel movie.

Because that's her character...
It felt totally unnatural to me and like I said, the dynamics in her actual movie were a lot better, in my opinion. However, Captain Marvel wasn't in many scenes at the end of the day, so it's not a big deal at all.

Hopefully for the sake of her character, they make the sequels to her story much better than what we saw in Endgame. Maybe she teams up with the Guardians of the Galaxy or something like that.

What is the point?

Seriously, she can murder all of them in about 10 seconds probably. Why would she ever want to team up with them.

That's always the problem for me in superhero movies where characters team up .. the totally polarised power levels. In the Avengers you've got immortal gods and super beings formed by radiation .. but also some chick who can do karate pretty well and a bloke with a metal arm who can shoot a gun.

If you have a problem with superhero movies, you can always not watch them and not bother commenting about how "real" they are.

:houllier:

I don't have a problem with superhero movies in general, I just find a lot of the 'team ups' pointless when you have somebody who can basically do everything apparently needing someone who can do martial arts to tag along.

That issue was at its worst in 'suicide squad', where you had basically one useful person (the fire guy) and then Harley Quinn had .. a bat.

So you do have a problem with superhero movies. The less able characters are a tool to humanise the idea behind the story, make it more relatable to some people. It's also not interesting if everyone is an unstoppable god-like killing machine.

It's not supposed to be realistic, this is the fantasy genre after all.

No because not all feature such team ups. I'm also able to enjoy the film whilst acknowledging that an element of it is a bit silly.

I agree with that and it's why I generally prefer the movies based on characters who are more towards the human side, i.e not a fan at all of Captain Dull. The characters like that kind of negate the more interesting characters and their efforts for me, as you always feel the god like ones could do what they do far more easily.

They should do a Marvel vs DC film. Superman is still the greatest superhero of all time. His dad would also beat up all the other heroes' dads.

I'm not a fan of Captain Marvel either, my point was that a team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy could make her more down to earth and create an interesting, funny dynamic with characters like Quill, Drax and Rocket.

Like I said, it doesn't have to make sense ability-wise to be interesting, if the story and production is done correctly.

Maybe. I just feel that right now the Guardian of the Galaxy characters are well balanced power wise so they work well as a team without one sticking out as clearly being far more useful than the others. If you introduced Captain Marvel I imagine you'd kind of ruin that balance a bit and it would become the Captain Marvel show, when in fact she would be the least interesting character out of all of them.

Maybe it would work if they came up with some bs where she lost her powers, but that's been done a few times and was kind of done in her origin story so probably wouldn't work. Would be interesting to see how they'd approach fight scenes etc.

I actually couldn't care less if they make any more Captain Marvel movies, it was just a suggestion how they could improve on her character.

I agree with you that the balance with the Guardians is excellent already, but judging by the end of Endgame, won't they be with Thor in their next movie anyway? So we might see something different about them anyway.

Fairly certain Engame was shot prior to Captain Marvel. Therefore she was made purposefully “bland” so they didn’t introduce traits which weren’t shown in CM

That moment was funny but not in a good way. The movie was way overhyped, the plot was good, the concept of "time heist" is interesting. Infinity War was better overall for me

I still think their explanation is bit weird. Caap was giving it his all during Age of Ultron and in Endgame he is wielding the hammer more easily than his shield. It was cool to watch but weird nonetheless.
Maybe someone already explained but can someone breakdown for me the last scene with old Cap America. How is he still not stuck in the past when the Hulk failed to recover him ?

I liked the theory I saw online that Cap was basically almost worthy in AoU and became worthy after coming clean about knowing Bucky killed Tony's parents.

He did get stuck in the past, and so he lived every day or his life concurrently so when he got back to the day he was to go back and Hulk fails to bring him back, he's old AF because it's been decades to him since that happened.

Yeah, but doesn't that make him like a god of Asgard or something? He should have even been able to fly with the hammer at that point. I think they messed up his character a bit in Endgame.

I understood that perfectly but it still is weird to me. Besides how does he put the soul stone back in its place ? Or the aether ? It was a cool gimmick tbh but makes little sense if you wanna nitpick

It also creates a time paradox. What happens with the Captain America that was frozen, can two of the same people coexist like that? Or was the timeline always supposed to be like this and the old man Cap always existed but just didn't want to show himself to not alter the events that happened to save the universe from Thanos?

The more you think about it, the more questions can be raised. If by giving back the stones, the events stayed the same, it means Old Cap stood there and watch certain events and did nothing, he witnessed the snap again etc etc ... It's a mindfeck.

One thing I'll say, certain characters won't be the same ever with different actors, Iron Man, Cap America, Thor, they cannot be replaced. Just like Jackman and Wolverine

Doctor Strange did say to Iron Man that he can't tell him what the future is as then it won't happen. So maybe Cap knew that and stayed away on purpose.

It's still very weird, I would have preferred if he just made a sacrifice like Stark and died a hero.

That whole doctor Strange is basically their get outta jail free card. It had to happen like that or else.
Am I the only one who found it weird how Spiderman and his classmates went back to school, 5 years after the snap, like nothing changed  ? Was skipping 5 years even necessary ?
