One of my dream players to see in a United shirt, but never gonna happen. It didn't materialise during Fergie's era, it surely won't happen now.

Eriken is a fabulous player, one of the best in the league on song, however are his positions the real gap in the team? I fear that, whoever we buy in the more attacking positions, if we're relying on Matic to screen the defence it'll be for nothing..
Solskjaer has been saying for months that he wants 2 senior MFs to replace Fellaini & Herrera, and its obvious that Matic isnt a shadow of the player that he once was.

Eriksen would make sense for United in being an established and top draw Premier League performer, and we cannot rely on Pogba being the sole creative source, however, can you seriously imagine Levy allowing this to happen..?
For £100m he might be tempted, but otherwise, I just don't see a deal being feasible.

But not only do we need a creative MF we also desperately need a more defensive MF, doesn't look like we are going to be solving either one of those MF issues.

I'd wet myself if this happened. Much better option than anyone we've been linked with.

I wonder if they'd like Jesse Lingard as a thank you for letting us sign Eriksen?

Yeah, let's leave a club in the CL with an amazing new stadium, or be it with a team that doesn't win anything for a team that will also not win anything but play in the Europa and in an aging OT.
Also moving from London to Manchester in the process.

I guess if he wants fat stacks of cash we could tempt him otherwise if not Real etc coming in for him then why bother?
fecking hell

Solskjaer said we don't have to replace them as McTominay and Pereira will start 20 plus games this season.

When did he say that? I've never seen that quote before.
He didn't. He said the exact opposite that we don't have to replace them as McTominay and Pereira will play 20 plus games. He said if we have outgoing players then we have to replace them (I think he meant Lukaku and Pogba)

We aren't signing Eriksen for 50m from Levy a few days before the end of the window. This is one of those times that genuinely calls for a 'lol'.

I just don't see why he'd leave Spurs to come here right now, as painful as that is to admit.
What confuses me is the idea that players themselves don't see that their own individual quality as a player can transform our team to the level of the teams they actually desire to play for. We aren't as good as City but a player like Eriksen can elevate us to that level so him not wanting to join because we aren't that good is weird as him joining and playing alongside Pogba in the midfield would make us that good.

Eriksen and Pogba alongside McTerminator would dominate most midfields. There's workrate, tackling, passing, shooting, strength. That 3 has it all and with Maguire behind them and Wan Bissaka, Shaw, Lindelof and De Gea it more than puts us up there. Of course we'd need Rashford and Martial to really step up buy with what's behind them on the pitch, they'll get a whole lot of chances to score this season.

I rate him as a good DM, he's certainly a better baller and more mobile than Dier. From the preseason matches I have seen he has impressed me, seems to get an awful lot of shit from United fans though.
Not as much anymore. People are slowly beginning to come around. He's not flashy, so it takes fans a while to appreciate these types of players. Look how long it took for Carrick to begin being appreciated.

Good to see a rival fan compliment him. I think he’ll surprise a few this season. He seems to have developed a huge amount in the off season.

Yeah I was a massive Carrick fan. McTominay plays in a position where being flash doesn't pay, all he needs to do is break up play, win the ball and use it quickly and effectively hopefully successfully passing it forward and repeat for 90mins. He moves well for a unit too.

Physical presence was always there but what’s impressed me in pre season has been his use of the ball - switching play, driving forward etc. Small details but pretty significant in terms of how we then play. I’d expect he starts on Sunday instead of Matic

He was very cautious at first, lots of sideways and backwards passing. Mourinho played him as a CB a few times which really knocked his confidence, and he didn't really recover.

Since Solskjaer has come in he's looking much more confident and completely changed as a player, so now we're all starting to see the real Mctominay. I think many of us have been happy with him in the last few months. Think it'll be a big season for him.

Its criminal if he doesn't, Matic seems to have lost 2 yards of any pace he had he also holds the ball far too long.

Agreed - either his legs have gone or it’s being exaggerated because we are genuinely trying to play quicker and he’s not up to it.

We are the only team desperate enough to over pay for him this summer rather than wait next summer for free. And we would probably triple his wages if he is really on 70k from 2016.

If its a money thing, we can get him. Levy loves to balance books, selling Eriksen and replacing him with Le Celso for less money is good business.

Replacing him with Fernandes would be even better :D.

Really? Outside of Pogba we haven’t got one creative midfielder in the squad. Gomes, arguably, but he’s 18.

This is a total non-starter regardless but Eriksen would fit here hand in glove. Pogba moves back a little deeper and Eriksen plays as the most attacking midfielder. It would work provided McTominay does his bit.

Like Dybala, I’m baffled that people on here seem to be completing ignoring our persistent inability to create and score goals. Pogba can do the job further back; we need better options than Mata and bloody Lingard.
The lack of creativity is a fair concern, I guess I'm hoping Gomes will be preferred to Mata as the season goes on. It's personal preference but I'd rather get more of an all-rounder in and push Pogba forward. As it stands one injury to Pogba or McTominay is all it takes to seriously hamper our midfield.

Jesse no, Martial, McTominay or Rashford? Maybe :D.
Think of Manchester United more as Costco and less as Harrods. We don't sell quality players here, we sell quantity players.

Jesse and Smalling? Throw in a Sanchez too. Buy 2 get 1 free.

I feel like this has only re-surfaced due to the Dybala links being quashed?

Pogba Eriksen McT midfield would be terrific. The strongest midfield we'd have had in years. Sadly I really can't see it.

Eriksen will likely be able to sign a pre-contract in January worth somewhere in the 350-400K per week range. If you want to sign him now, he would surely demand the same (or slightly less).

If you pay a 50m transfer fee, sign him to a five year deal, and pay him 333K per week (for example) that is a cost of 27m per year once you factor in both wages and transfer fees. That is actually more than you're paying for Sanchez and would be an insane amount of money to spend on a player who is very good but not among the game's elite.

Eriksen was looking for new challenges... winning the europa league is a new one after giving the CL a go, right?

Why would we pay 333K per week, your numbers are based on very huge wages which he might not get at all.

This is a very strange one... He's a player that Spurs can't afford to let go for nothing when compared with a potential £60m fee this Summer... But likewise I can't see Levy letting him go for this kind of figure to one of their rivals. It also seems he does not want to sign an extension irrespective.

If the Premier League window were open until the end of August I'd be far more optimistic of us signing him, as if the choice is £60m to United or him going for nothing next year Levy would begrudgingly only have one option and that would be to sell. However with other European clubs able to purchase him for 3 weeks after United, he's far more likely to gamble that he'll get a good fee from elsewhere. I can see Levy refusing all but a truly great offer from United (£80m+), but then having to sell for much less (£50-55m) towards the end of the window.

If we had our wings sorted (which we don't) then offering Martial in exchange would possibly work for everyone.

Doubt we will go near him unless Pogba is sold. Him and Pogba in the middle would be overkill because they both dont work hard enough.
