Todays match for me : Barnsley - Fulham
Barnsley: Sahin-Radlinger - Cavare, Andersen, Diaby, Sibbick - Mowatt, Thomas, McGeehan, Bähre - Willks and Woodrow
Fulham: Betinelli - Bryan, LeMarchand, Mawson, Odoy - McDonald, Johansen, Cairney - Cavaleiro, Mitrovic, Kamara
The biggest favourite for promotion, against the perhaps biggest favourite to be relegated. Barnsley ended 2nd behind Luton in League 1 but have since lost their goalkeeper Adam Davies to Stoke, and both their central defenders Liam Lindsay (also to Stoke) and Ethan Pinnock to Brentford. Barnsley is probably the most inexperienced side in the League, and I don't think any of the outfield players starting today has turned 25.
A short presentation of the Barnsley-side starting today:
New goalkeeper is Samuel Sahin-Radlinger which I know better than most people, because he played last season on loan to my favourite Norwegian side Brann. Easily summarized - superb with the ball at his feet, excellent on the line - but is capable of many strange things when coming for crosses. Joined the club in the summer from Hannover. Was an outfield player until he turned 16. 6 ft 5
In defense they have signed Danish giant Mads Andersen and Bambo Diaby an african defender who latest played with Lokeren. What they both have in common is that they are physical players who lack experience (both 21)
Rightback is another youngster in Toby Sibbick. 20 year old player who was signed from AFC Wimbledon this season. On the opposite side is Dimitri Cavare a french player who was a regular for Barnsley last season.(Edit - he is now actually an international for Guadeloupe)
Alex Mowatt - former Leeds-player who joined Barnsley in 2017 for £600.000 and has been a regular ever since. Played all League matches last season and scored 8 goals.
Luke Thomas - signed from Derby in the summer after a good season on loan with Coventry. Winger who is just 20 years old. Started his career with Cheltenham before joining Derby in 2016.
Cameron McGeehan was brilliant for Luton and scored 22 goals in 65 matches during his 2 years at Kenilworth Road. Was signed by Barnsley in 2017 but has so far not reached the same stats. Had a strong season last and will be a key-player
Mike-Steven Bähre - joined from Hannover in the summer after playing last season on loan for Barnsley. The captain of the club. Just 23 year old.
Mallik Wilks - Another youngster, just 20 years old. Signed from Leeds in the summer. Spent last season on loan with Doncaster and scored 14 goals in 44 matches. Quick and powerful.
Cauley Woodrow - after having a fairly unsuccesful career, Woodrow suddenly started finding the back of the net last season and scored 16 goals in 31 matches. Plays against his old club who sold him to Barnsley in january.
