I think wolves, everton and even west ham Will be a threat to our position next season. Nevermind top 4 we will struggle for top 6.
I agree. Realistically, that is where we are. God help us if Pogba agitates and we decide enough is enough and he goes in the next month and it is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Of course and if Spurs buy Dybala, and Fernandez. We are stuffed.

United have a good chance of winning the EL, though. And if making it to the CL is the goal then there's nothing wrong by doing it through winning the EL. Arsenal made a big mistake not priortising the EL or the PL last year, and I feel this time we'll go for higher position in the league leaving the EL door open for Utd.

The doom and gloom of some of our supporters is hilarious. Not only will we be in the top 4 this year, but we will put up a title challenge. But go on, try and convince me that my optimism is misplaced and that I should be a negative Nancy like the rest of you...
You call it optimism, there are other words that come to mind, but you seem cool so I'll just say this, there's no need to try and convince anyone, this is like the guy standing in the middle of the road with a truck coming at him full speed that believes god will save him......spatula time.

Tottenham have been shrewd as always. Whatever you think of levi, he's in the right job.
Exactly. A club with great structure. It is not the players they bought in that was key, but keeping their main players like Eriksen, Alderweireld and Rose as well. It will be hard to knock them out of top four without any significant injuries.

I think we will be alright eventually.

Get behind the team. These youngsters need our support.
I think top 4 is still a possibility and I’m buzzing to see the new signings this season along with some youth.

No point whining imo. Markets closed, let’s be optimistic and move on.
I don't expect much this season but a fight for top 4 which should be a good watch. It's not what we want but it's what we've got and we've just got to go with it. Feck it... I want to stay positive.

Would McTominay and Fred get into the teams of City, Liverpool, Spurs, Wolves, Arsenal or Chelsea? Even Everton and Leicester. The answer is most definitely NO.
He'd certainly be in their squad I think. The difference is that he's still unknown potential. We don't know how good he really is as a CDM, but he's improving each year.

Ole has handled this transfer window just the way he said he would do, and the way every fan seemed to agree with. So what´s the fuss?

- only signing (English) players really interested in playing for United
- avoiding quick fixes and big names looking for a fat pay check
- avoiding signing players just for the sake of it, at best marginally better than the youngsters coming out of the academy (who will now get playing time instead)

Also on the pluss side
- most of the squad have been part of preseason and are well prepared for the coming season, both when it comes to fitness and tactics
- Pogba is still around

Can´t wait for Sunday!!

Wow some real babies on here and most full members as well. That’s a good thing because this will weed out the real fans from the glory hunters. We will finish in the top 4.

We'll get spanked this season by nobody teams because of our midfield and attack.

We are an injury away from a midfield of Matic, McSauce and Fred...

If we hit an injury crisis like we seem to every season we are really struggling.

This season is going to be quite a ride.

There's as much chance of the Glazers firing Woodward as there is you creating a thread without making it look like a fecking budget version of the Daily Mail.

Fred still deserves a chance. I would rather have Mctominay than winks or Sissoko or Xhaka. The thread is clown. Seriously, already pessimistic before the season even started. We just finally signed a ball playing centre back & a proper right back.

Any glory hunters would have started supporting City or Liverpool around 2015, pal.

In case you hadn't noticed, we haven't had a shred of glory to hunt since 2013.

Most fans on here think we will struggle this season, including me. The positive to this is it puts our players under less pressure as the expectations are lower, & if we do start doing better than predicted it will be great for morale all round.

Another farcical, disgraceful, incompetently handled transfer window, which will result in another statement about pulling in a director of football, that won't happen.

I mean what club knowing Lukaku is going waits till the day before the window closes to get a replacement. You think that's bull?

Well Lyon has confirmed that we tried to get Moussa Dembele... and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has trolled the club saying: “It is not a question of money, it is a question of ambition.“

“Moussa Dembele will not leave,” he said.

“The model was made for him. We recruited according to him.

“He becomes centre number one, which he was not totally last season.

“It is not a question of money, it is a question of ambition.“

“Moussa is part of the project just like Juninho or others,” he added.

“We want him to succeed and to reach the France team from his club which is Lyon.

“We have a great deal of confidence in its capabilities and potential.”

Defenders were needed, but they won't make the difference at the top half of the table. Right now we are fighting Everton and Wolves for sixth place. We have NO chance of top four.

The fact we think our midfield is good enough shows that there is something dreadfully wrong within our club.

But surely the club knows our midfield is not good enough, hence the last minute dalliance with Eriksen.

Meanwhile the midfielder-rich Spurs bring in not one but two central midfielders of quality.

It has been said many times before, but I don't think I am alone in thinking that enough is enough.

Woodward out. Glazers out.
You are beyond painful at this stage.

Well now we know we aren't bringing in any more recruits to address the problem areas, I hope Ole takes the opportunity to properly blood the young lads into the team. When there's real quality coming through the ranks they have to given an opportunity to grow into the team and not have their path blocked or whats the point with having the academy in the first place.

For those of us that were around in '96 and remember the disbelief at the sales of 3 top class 1st team players in Sparky, Kanchelskis and Ince. We saw first-hand the benefits by taking a gamble on youth. Of course it could all go to shit, but if it works out it could put us in a great position for years to come with a young hungry, loyal United team again.

Biggest loss for me is herrera.
Just wish we managed to replace him.

I'm happy with the rest of the window

Yeah, I think people don't realise the significance of a player like Maguire sitting behind McTominay. Factor in Lindelof, AWB and shaw as well, and I think McTominay could really grow into the CDM role this season. This will give Fred and Pogba confidence to bomb on as well.

Thought I would just point out that saying we have had a shit window overall and will struggle does not mean we aren't fully behind the players and manager.

Some can't seem to grasp that.

Massively improved back 4, defensive mid improved compared to last season (McTominay > Matic), full season of Pogba under Ole compared to just half a season (Ole is no genius, but let's not pretend like there wasnt a massive difference in Pogba in the 2 halves of last season).

No worse off in starting 11 with Martial/Rashford starting as LW/ST compared to Martial or Rashford with Lukaku top. Greenwood will be a massive improvement over any RW we had, plus James as an option.

Comparing our starting 11's, it's not even close for me. This season is much stronger. In terms of depth, midfield is the obvious concern as 1 injury and Matic plays, while I think we'll find that we're fine in the attack with Greenwood/Gomes/Chong and James essentially being added to the squad in bigger roles.

Arsenal have had a good window so I would have them favourites for 4th, maybe, but I keep flip flopping. Between United and Arsenal for 4/5th, Chelsea 6th. If things click for some key pieces for us, then I'm confident we'll get top 4 and have a good season. The biggest issue is the midfield we are relying on McTominay both making the step up, and staying fit.
Matic will still start.

Kind of agree with you. I think that the team is better than people are giving credit, and I think that we will get the fourth place.

If Pogba gets injured though, Lord help us all.
Honestly think Fred will be a very capable backup to Pogba. Nowhere near Pogs of course, but not bad at all. It's more Matic who I'm worried about having to come in for McTominay if Scott gets injured or fails to step up

Hopefully not, but if he does, then only at the very start of the season before McTominay takes over. Ole played 4231 all pre season, McTominay has impressed all pre season while Matic has been woeful. It won't take long for Matic to be dropped.

If we do even remotely well (and by that I mean top 4), it will be all down to coaching and the Class of 19.

Woodward is incredibly incompetent. It boggles the mind. He signed Jose long term in Jan of 18 then did not support Jose in the 18 Summer window. We changed managers and bought no one in the winter window. Now here we are again not supporting the manager in Summer window 19.

I know the Glazers are here to make money but even they must understand they are pissing on the club's worth.

Nope, guess they don't get that... :(.

Yes, Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves have a better squad than us.
Apart from midfield they really don't and even then they don't have any game changers in the midfield like we do with Pogba. Chelsea's squad has got worse this summer. Two players who could make an impact for them in RLC and CHO both have long term injuries.

Trying my best to look on the bright side. We finally have a defence, and the old saying is build from the back. Dan James was great against Spurs and I can see him causing problems for defenders.

However, we lost 2 midfielders and Lukaku without replacement. Rashford and Martial are hit and miss at best. They have great runs, then horrible runs and if one gets injured we are kinda screwed.

Will be good to see some youth coming through. But we were promised the deadwood would be gone. Nothing happened in that regards and Woodward has been a disaster. Every deal fell through that we've been in talks with this last week.

Edit: Oh and we have Sanchez. I completely forgot we had him

I'm sorry but bet you've never set foot in Old Trafford with an attitude like that.

By all means be critical but feck the club? So offensive.

Maguire and AWB are great signings. James is also exciting. It's where we are at currently and we have to make do. If we had got CL we might have done more when it comes to signing overseas players and yes we are two players short this time around IMO but this is a long term project and we are profiling and getting in the right players. We've also began offloading the rest.
You really think Maguire is a great signing?

I think realistically the best we can hope for us a relatively soft run in the Europa to get into CL otherwise a good cup run to get us in Europe. We could come somewhere from 5th-9th in the league probably around 6th or 7th.

Feck this club dude, I'm done. No point even getting upset anymore, us being a fecking joke is expected now and has been for some time. Every season I hope it'll change, but we just have clueless cnuts running the club. It's not even down to a lack of investment, they're spending money. They're just doing so fecking terribly, their recruitment is fecking rubbish and the choice of managers/dinosaur footballing structure has completely fecked this club.

This window has exposed the fact that top players just don't want to come here anymore and the top players we do have are dying to get out. Once we lose Pogba this summer or next, it's going to be a long road I feel.
Am I feck done with this club. This is my home ffs. Well not literally, I'm a glory hunting wanker from Scotland but I feel that I've earned my stripes after the last 6 seasons.

You can't change clubs. You can, however, throw Woodward in the fiery pits of Hell along with that family of fecking gnomes. I want my fecking club back. If I had the money I would pay them whatever they demanded, I wouldn't care if it was ten times the real value. I'd step back and let real football men and women handle the day to day operation of the club. I'd say "feck it" to the railway problem and redevelop Old Trafford. I'd even reduce the number of seats so that there was more leg room. I'd bring back Sharp just to see their logo on the kit again. I'd pay the Stone Roses and James to play before every game - even that City supporting cnut Larry Gott. I'd make Eric Cantona our resident Poet. I'd even pay for any movie project he wants to make just as long as he names it "Feck The Glazers". I'd get rid of the corporate PR bullshit that has infested every single brick in the foundations of our club. I'd stop the "biggest club in the world" shite, I'd stop the Twitter posts that have gone through ten layers of management approval before being posted, I'd get rid of those fecking fake business assholes who say they care but don't actually give two fecks about anything but the profit margin.

I don't care if we don't storm the league. Those days are gone, and success comes in waves before subsiding and letting a new one take your place. But I just wish we didn't just drift away over the horizon. I just want everyone involved with my club, from players to staff, to give as much of a shit as I do.

What odds Pogba going in the next month. Actually zero odds. He is staying for at least this season, but he will moan and flirt with other clubs both himself and his agent and the nonsense from the tail end of last season will continue for another year.

If we sell up in the next month after he agitates, that really turn a disaster into a catastrophe. Is a catastrophe worse than a disaster? Hmmm. Anyway, you get my drift.
Pogba is just a player. A strong management team would either coarse him into improving his public display or reprimand him. You can't just let your players be out of control. It doesn't matter if you a big or a small club. There a massive lack of leadership, all the way from the top at Man Utd.

How many nothing teams did we get spanked by last season?

Now play them without Herrera, Fellaini and Lukaku in the squad.
Give over, Fellaini was useless and offered nothing, Lukaku wastes more than he puts away and ruins most quick attacks that goes through him and Herrera, as much as I’d rather we kept him, let’s not pretend he did anything more than block and tackle.
