Watching this he never seemed to kick and rush players with pace he was just so electric in tight spaces with incredible instinct.

Surely he has not lost everything? Is it a confidence thing?
He has never been a Rashford or Sane. What he has always had is that he was explosive off the mark with the ball at his feet.
Sanchez still regularly turns players for fun but has no acceleration to get away. It's more than just confidence. Coupled with the fact he has always been an awful passer of the ball, it's a recipe for disaster.

Potential? I forgot he is younger than Lingard so he's only going to get better. And yes I do like him as a human but not as a man utd player
Potential in that he is demonstrably better than he is currently playing. He is legit world class if we can figure out what it is that is stopping him from playing to his potential. I cant think of a better word to describe what that is other than potential?

So many people fixated with age on this forum. Like a 30 year old suddenly just cant play football any more. With a footballer its all about what that ceiling is, youth is all well and good but if the skill and talent just isnt there then whats the point, this guy has got skill in absolute spades, he has literally shown that he is one of the best players that has played in the premier league. When its there in December but then not in February/March as it was with him, then thats not him being over the hill its a mentality thing. So the potential is there and its not like when Lingard had 3 good games in a row it was consistent.

He is about as world class as Wayne Rooney is. maybe we can bring Wayne in to CM next to Pogba. We could always call RVP out of retirement to replace Lukaku

Shouldn't smear Rooney's name like that. Alexis hasnt even been half the player a run down, old Rooney was for us

I hope he's actually good this year.

I don't think he will be, but it would be a massive bonus if he is.

Pretty much this which is a pity.

I've lost faith in him. Hopefully he proves me and many others wrong

Does Ole think he is needed or does no one else want him?

Obviously the window hasn't shut for other leagues, but doesn't seem to have been anyone in for him at all.

No one will pay his wages.

We're stuck with him, time for some false hope that he comes good :(

He looks as if he's completely separated from the squad. I think we should do a Schweinsteiger with him, let him know he won't play a single minute and hope that encourages him to accept a lower wage from another team.

Maybe confidence, but also that Arsenal team was built for attacking. Barcelona-lite basically.

For years he played in well-oiled attacking machines of Barcelona and Arsenal. To move from that to LVG and Mourinho influenced football must have been quite the change.

He probably lost some physicality, but with more attacking intent shown by the team, I think he'll perform better than the Jose days. The question is, is it too late for him already?

He never had the outstanding top speed, but was explosive and very agile. Once it’s gone, I can’t see him ever getting in back.

It's hilarious that people in here genuinely believe or hope he'll contribute this season.

If we're lucky, he'll score 2-3 goals in the League Cup and early round FA Cup games. We need to wrap him in cotton wool and write off a transfer fee next summer, get shot NOW.

Id be amazed if he is anything other then useless and constantly injured this season. Don’t see how you fit him in to any team unless there are injuries.

He is not able to run anymore and his passing is erratic. Awful signing on HUGE wages making it literally impossible to sell him. Lucky guy though, will still be earning millions by doing sweet feck all.

While i am in no way arguing against the fact that he has been terrible for us, do we really need to slump down to calling him names such as dog shagger? We willingly signed him, without a gun to the head - what was he suppose to do? Say No to the biggest and possibly last contract of his career?

As far as I am aware he hasn't been unprofessional in his conduct, it is a simply a case of signing a player who was on the decline before he even joined us. The blame lies solely with the club management i.e Woody/Jose.

Also - most fans including myself were over the moon when he signed. Heck i even paid £80 for a jersey from the official store :(

Sadly I think we arent in any state to do that. We will need him go up his game this season.

This post is one of the few mature ones in this thread. It is not his fault. And I think he has been professional. He is probably just over the hill. And like you, I was delighted when he signed. Everyone was.

Still hoping he can still turn it on and stay injury free this season. If he can,and it’s a big if,he can be a match winner.

Relying on Sanchez this season would be as much a gamble as calling on one of our youngsters. The only reason to persist with him is a vague notion that it would justify his high wages.

But that's sunk cost fallacy. We should just eat the humble pie and give Sanchez' minutes to more worthwhile gambles

When’s the last time he played a match? Has he even been training with the team? Is he fit? Are we sure he still exists?

He's been here for 18 months and hasn't showned any sign that gives us hope that he can be decent. He is a waste of a player, I wouldn't even waste minutes o him, would prefer to give them to some youngster.

I agree, but we need all players on deck this season him included.

Let's get rid. The sooner the better
By getting rid you mean terminating his contract for 15 mill or so? He won't sign for anybody since he will have to but his wages with 70 percent. He rather see out his contract and retire here.
