Seriously, I cant wait. We're heading into the unknown this season, which is a change from the Mourinho/Van Gaal years of (sadly) knowing exactly what you're getting. Some of these youngsters could genuinely become stars for us. They'll get the game time.

Surely I'm not the only one optimistic?

I'm not sure positivity is allowed around here.

Nope you're not. I honestly think we'll do Chelsea and I'm excited to see whether or not martial and Rashford will push on this season, especially martial moving back to CF.

Also excited at having a sold defence, what I genuinely think is the foundation to any great team. Starts at the back.

Could finish top 3, could finish 6th, I'm not going to say yay or nay, just gonna watch it for what it is and judge on performances and results rather than shiny new toys in the transfer market.

Yeah Looking forward to it. A lot of negativity among the fanbase. Seems like they've all been vaccinated with Mourinho pox. Looking forward to see if Greenwood can make an impact. If they're good enough they're old enough.

Hahaha...so true.

I am looking forward to a season of no expectations though, and the return of football.

WWC was fun, but I am excited for the United matches to complement my weekends. I'll just be staying away from the Caf after losses.

I'm looking forward to it! Just hope we improve on last season. It's not just transfers, it's also Ole having that pre season he said he needed with the squad to embed his style. That excites me more because I want to believe Ole will transform us.

We did have at least 2 promising summers since Fergie retired when we were excited before the kick-off. One under Van Gaal when we trashed big teams pre-season and one under Mourinho.

I'm buzzing for football being back, but its getting expensive to watch. As far as united are concerned, it's the most unpredictable start to a season I think I've ever known.
There are so many ifs and buts. Will sanchez come good? Will the defence make the midfield stronger? How will Rashford and Martial do? Will any of the kids shine?
None of us really know what to expect. I have a feeling we're all going to be pleasantly surprised.

I think some people forget how poor we were at the end of last season. We are largely unchanged from that team, and worse in certain areas.

The only hope is the Ole just might give the kids a chance which might bring some excitement despite the risk. I think it's more likely we'll see the likes of Mata and Matic starting games.

Considering I couldn't wait for last season to end and this season just seems like a continuation of it, I can't say I'm as excited as I should be.

I'm excited. Sure, we've not had the best transfer window but I am intrigued with how our squad will do. They have nothing to lose, and most of them are young and hungry.

I’m just buzzing for premier league football in general! I’ve got a sneaky suspicion we'll do better than most on here think but I wouldn’t say I’m hugely excited to see us scrap for 4th

Looking forward to it but have no illusions about getting any more than top 4, which kinda sours things a bit. This squad isn’t a title contender and we used to contend at minimum.

I’m anxious but excited, getting off to a good start could be crucial, let’s smash them on Sunday and shut a few people up

If it looked like Ole was going to play the youngsters and not Matic,Mata,Young,Jones before them I'd be looking forward to the season...but it doesn't look like that. As a season ticket holder after last season it's difficult to see how we aren't better in defence and worse in every other area.

Why any United fan would be buzzing about this season, at this point, City are champions, Liverpool champions of (can't even type the rest), we've had a terrible season and weakened our team. There is a way I think that it could be positive, improve the back four tick, get rid of the tried and tested failures not tick, and move on with Tuanzebe, Gomes, Greenwood but that won't really happen.

So no....not at all. And the rest just seems like top red syndrome. I'll go to games. I'm expecting us to play better to start with but we are lacking quality and I think a few key injuries or the likes of DeGea, Pogba getting pissed off with playing with players below their level, and we could end up with a worse season than last season.

I'm looking forward to it.....

if Matic and Lingard are on the team sheet my heart will sink a little but we really need to go for it

because of the way we finished last year it feels really important to get a good result in this game

Under a tree.
I am.

Lots of people are down that we didn't sign certain players, and i would've liked to have signed another attacker, but we did address two massive defensive problems and where we may have lacked in signing first team attacking players, there are academy players that have a massive opportunity and could be ready to step up.

I’ve been moaning and groaning all damn summer about the lack of signings in midfield. Transfer window is now closed and I’m just glad the football is back. A good performance and result on Sunday will definitely shut me and the rest of the moaners in here up which is what I’m hoping for!

Yes I am actually. Pleased with Maguire and Bissaka and have faith in Martial and Rashford to take on the responsibility and the younger players are ready to make an impact.

Will be great to see if Ole has them fitter and more focused.

Already told the wife this weekend is football;

Hoping to catch City vs West Ham (12:30), Bournemouth Vs Shef United (Ravel's return @ 3:00pm), don't know if i should watch Arsenal or Wolves

Then the game.

Looking at this Chelsea side... they are a bit meh. Giroud, Batshuayi, Pedro and Abraham are their forwards and the defense Zouma??

Right up for it. As someone else said we are stepping a bit into the unknown and I can’t wait to see the brand of football and how we are going to go about it.

Beat Chelsea with a bit of panache and the whole mood will change. Would love to see Sanchez or Fred get the winner, two undoubtedly good footballers needing a landmark moment to ignite their United careers.

Can't wait to see Matic, Mata and Lingard week in, week out. Or maybe Pereira fouling his shadow and Youngy playing in the cups instead of Laird and Williams

I'd love to be optimistic. But I reckon I'll be watching Sanchez, Matic, Mata and Lingard instead of Chong, Garner, Gomes and Greenwood.

I really think these boys would light up the league like Rashford did. Taunzebe too.

I can't wait for the new season. You would imagine by reading on here that its all doom and gloom already. Many seem to forget that when Ole took over we were on title winning form until we tired ourselves out. I'm not saying we're going to win the title but i'm feeling positive for 3rd/4th. I have to admit though its painfull reading on here sometimes. So many downers not giving our lads a chance even before the first game has kicked off. I know pre season doesn't mean much but we generally looked impressive and hopefully we carry that into the Chelsea match.

As an American I have to give a shout out to Pulisic as he could be a real star. I really wish he were at Man Utd.
