Seriously, I cant wait. We're heading into the unknown this season, which is a change from the Mourinho/Van Gaal years of (sadly) knowing exactly what you're getting. Some of these youngsters could genuinely become stars for us. They'll get the game time.

Surely I'm not the only one optimistic?
Absolutely with you mate - some ridiculous negativity around from transfer muppets.

Ole taking us back to basics with an injection of youth, speed and skill - it wont be a smooth ride but at least it will be entertaining unlike the bus parking masterclasses we got used to.

Somewhat excited for the retun of football as a whole, it is properly annoying that our main rivals are favourites for evrything again, though.

For us I am excited to see how we line up and how many minutes the youth players get. I have no expectations at this stage.

If you can’t be excited for the season to start then why bother.

Yes, surprisingly so. I was absolutely sick of our players at the end of last season, but can't wait for the season to start despite the disappointing transfer window.

Can’t wait! Hoping to see Martial, Rashford , James and Greenwood to hit the ground running. I hope he uses Rashford and Martial as a 2 up top.

Yup - really excited for this. First time I've gone into a season with zero expectation of the team, and I'm just excited to see how we play.

I think there's a strong possibility that this will be the most entertaining United side since 2007. Can't wait.

Easily the first time since 1990 that Utd doesn't have any solid chance of winning the League.

Still, we should finish Top4 this season, without drama.

Yep. Somewhere i believe(and wish) that Rashford and Martial finally come into their groove. Fred has the potential and can be the midfielder we are craving for.

Excited to see the defence.

No expectations from 'young' Lingard and Mata.

Hoping for an injury free season for the lads.

Ya know what, alright it was another poor transfer window, and if we do well it will be despite the owners and Woodward, but it’s done now and we can’t control that, so yeah I am excited.
I just hope ole really plays s the youth now cos we have talent there. Greenwood, Chong, Gomes, Tuanzebe etc. I’d love to see Greenwood start on the right against Chelsea.

For the first time in awhile im buzzing for the start of the season.

But after reading through here and social media you would think we are destined for relegation.

The transfer window has been a complete shambles and still no director of football hired. Saying that, i actually thought pre season went very well. The players looked fitter and happier than I have seen for a while. The signing of James has me excited, I have mentioned this before but I think he has all the tools to be a fantastic player. I know we did not get that creative midfielder we have been aiming for, for years but the prospect of more minutes going to Gomes could be a blessing in disguise. I saw his highlights against Rotherham and I actually think he is more ready than Greenwood despite his tender frame. He has this added maturity in his play that i really admire.

The window is shut, what has happened has happened and we cannot change a thing. I cannot wait for the season to start and Sunday 4pm cannot come soon enough. I think if we win that, the next 3 or 4 fixtures look winable with wolves being the strongest test we have and they have a Europa gane 3 days before I think. Football is football, fans will always moan and rightly so because we want the best for our club. Despite all the negativity, I bet everyone cannot wait for the games to begin.

They're a bunch of know-nothings who think think that football is a re-enactment of Football Manager 2019. They can't seem to get their heads around how the sport actually works.

Yep, havent been this excited for the start of a season in ages. So much to be excited about and optimistic, though of course you have to remember it'll have inconsistencies which is normal with young players.
Things feel like they're headed in the right direction again.

I'm excited for the season to start but not sure how long it will last. Hopefully some of the youth players like Greenwood and Gomes will surprise us. I would much rather give them a chance than see the same old from previous seasons. It is so important we get off to a good start, if its a bad start then I think the players heads will soon drop and things could turn ugly.

What else is there to do but be hopeful?

If Rashford and Martial can be consistent, and Greenwood, Chong and Gomes make the step up, it could be a season to build on.

Very excited now that it’s so close. Favourites to go down, labelled ‘Brexit FC’, hoofball team… can’t wait to see what Wilder pulls off  We thrive by having doubters

Not ‘buzzing’ but certainly more positive than this time last year. Still excited though...it’s United.

Maybe it’s the uncertainty and hope that The Juice will come good and exceed our expectations. Just having someone up top with a first touch is getting me going.

Cannot fecking wait.

We may not have have bought in the numbers that most of us wanted but Maguire and Wan-Bissaka were my top two choices and we grabbed them both.

Chelsea are in for a rude awakening this weekend. Our lads will be up for it big time and so will the crowd.

Gomes, Greenwood and James are going to rock the tits off Old Trafford this season and all you little bitches are going to be walking back your miserable deadline day comments soon enough.

UNITED!

Apprehensive. Which is a crying shame because with just a couple of key signings there’d be cause for genuine optimism

We’ve fallen short of that though

Finally a positive thread.

Signed in to just say I'm absolutely ecstatic. Opening fixtures are a bit boring apart from ours but can't wait to get back to going to matches again. Hoping for a surprise start for one of the big teams (Norwich please don't get smashed at least).

Reckon we could roll Chelsea over but also be done over. Love a bit of chaos honestly. Very happy with the transfers and despite the other posters belief that we will only play Matic and Mata instead of the youngsters I just don't believe it for a second. Maybe we might start with them more than I'd like early on but they won't last the season.

I'm not optimistic or buzzing, to be precise.

I am however looking forward to playing a season with the makings of a future side and young players getting the opportunity to make their case. As opposed to an uninspiring starting XI more likely to get a result, but not likely to ever get you anywhere close where we want to be.

So no, not buzzing, but looking forward to it.

Yep. Buzzing for the season to start. It's football after all, and our beloved United. I think it's unfair though to accuse people of negativity cos they point out the fact we've come painfully short in the transfer market. That is a fact. We're gong into the season with mostly the same squad that we know ain't good enough (apart from in defence ), and a bunch of untested youngsters. Of course we all hope they rise up to the occasion and surprise us all but the club could have done better this window. Anyway, it's done now. Let's go United!

I was 24 hours ago but the lack of anymore signings + no new striker to replace Lukaku has put a damper on it.

I feel like we could have really clawed back some points from Liverpool and City with the right signings. Now id take 4th.

Pretty excited that football is back. There is always a genuine buzz when the Prem kicks off again.

Not too fussed about the "lack" of signings as I believe Ole has turned this team into an aggressive forward thinking team. Which in itself is brand new, in a way.

Would love to see us hammer Chelsea as well.

I will be travelling most of the day, arriving into Manchester in time to get home just before kick-off so won’t have much/any chance to get excited really. Hopefully by the time I get in then I’ll feel some emotion for the forthcoming season at last.

Always. No matter what happens, I can’t not be excited for the start of the season. Only twice in my life have I not been excited, Moyes season and last season. Seeing as how both of those went I don’t feel too bad for not being excited for them, but other than that it’s great to have football back again!

It’s been a painful summer without any football to watch. I was so thankful the cricket World Cup was around to ease the pain.

I can't wait until January. Hopefully we get 2 decent midfielder's in through the slightly ajar window.
Genuine question... Why is everyone so optimistic about the January transfer window? Was there something said about it by Ole or Woodward.

Despite the terrible transfer window I am looking forward to this season.

I'm really looking forward to us continuing this high pressing, high intensity football Ole's implementing, and am excited about seeing the likes of Greenwood and Gomes play for the first team.
