Is it sarcasm?

I think the game against chelsea will set a clear direction not for the season since I think there's no way we will achieve top 4 but for Ole. If we win I think we will get a boost on confidence and get into a solid run that will get everybody happy with the hopes up until late november when we will realize we can't keep up with City and Liverpool again but determined to fight for top 4.

If we lose, I think it can go south real fast for Ole and he'll be in danger since October.

Don't forget we ended last season pretty shitty, so its all about breaking the pattern or the pressure will pile up pretty fast.

If any of the people writing about not being excited attend more than 5 games this season I’d be slightly surprised - if it’s such a drag then give it a season off watching on TV then come back refreshed. So much other stuff to occupy time these days that there’s no point occupying yourself with something that gets you down.

The club seems to have withheld spending a lot of cash on players for now so maybe next season we will have some to splash with a crop of young lads who’ve found some experience.

Anyone else, see you on Sunday and at Wolves.

I can't wait, I love this build up and then we have three weeks of the "phony season" and then the international break that I hate, then things start for real!

Really excited to see how Brighton play under Potter and have really high hopes after a great transfer window. Also definitely looking forward to Utd playing, I think with an far more attacking mindset, a solid and sensible defence and stability at the club you could have a great season and blood a couple of excellent youngsters as well.... time will tell, but I am desperate for tomorrows kick offs, will spend my whole weekend ignoring my wife and children and just watching football!

Don't think much of Woodward and despise the Glazers, but I don't think this transfer window has been as terrible as social media fans are making out. We've improved the defence and I think by letting Lukaku go we've made our attacking approach clear.

We have to gradually build a team, so missing out on players that weren't part of our initial plan - like Dybala for instance - isn't such an issue for me.

I do, however, think that the midfield is a glaring issue which we've not addressed, but I'd be happy to see someone like Fred grow into the team if he has the ability.

But yeah, I'm excited; it really is make or break for so many players and I feel like the spine of our team will show itself this season.

Really excited. Young, motivated bunch. Hopefully high speed, high intensity, high press. All made possible thanks to our new and improved defense.

Bring it on!

Seriously, I cant wait. We're heading into the unknown this season, which is a change from the Mourinho/Van Gaal years of (sadly) knowing exactly what you're getting. Some of these youngsters could genuinely become stars for us. They'll get the game time.

Surely I'm not the only one optimistic?

I actually see us getting a 4-0 hammering from Chelsea, to be honest... Then all of us would realize how much of these "positivity" we try to put on are just wishful thinking. Desperate hope is all we have.
Our midfield is nearly non-existent. And Chelsea would show it to all of us. Exact same vibe as the Everton 4-0 hammering we got last season.

The more I think about it the more I am. As you rightly said these youngsters will definitely be getting game time, what a chance for them to really develop this season espec with the Europa League. What an opportunity!

Also, I feel the platform for Martial, Fred and a few others has been laid. They will get chances in their preferred positions. I have belief they can shine.

I'm excited. Football is back. But that can quickly disappate if we revert to boring and feck football. Let's hope it doesn't.

Apart from a generic excitement that football is back, I am not really buzzing in terms of stepping into the unknown or the thrill of an impossible looking challenge.
Maybe I am just getting old.

I need another day and change to manage my anger. Basically until kickoff.

If your house is on fire, do not chase the arsenist. Put the fire out first. Thus, take care of your own anger, quench that fire.
Anger management, coping kind of stuff.

Once I get to that zen, I already know what to look forward to:

- McTominay and Fred having a wonderful season. Fred is going to be able to play his best now that there's a truly decent back five behind him - Jose will be proven right about this in particular.
- Greenwood, James, Gomes and Axel: I'm expecting a lot of appearances and some hopefully memorable moments.
- Sanchez and Pereira. Hope. There's always hope. If these two can get into proper form, it will make for a much better balanced team and help relieve Pogba's burden.
- Ole - please be a genius. I'll take another season in 6th but I want to see a consistent style and team that grows in stature through the season.

Me too. Window behind us, it’s what it is. We go with what we’ve got. Munich didn’t stop us so why should the Glazers.
Love this post.

So called fans whining and moaning because not enough money was spent and not enough shinies were purchased.

They need to stop and re-evaluate what they consider having a bad time means. Finishing in the top half of the Premier league certainly does not compare.

58 was about as dark as it got for a football club. There were no shinies, the shinies were mainly dead, but by digging in and relying on kids as well as the kindness of other clubs Liverpool included they found their way back.

Modern fans or dare I say it humans as a whole seem very different and way more entitled.

Let’s see how we go, we may be pleasantly surprised. Then again......

Its fairly simple for me. I am not excited about the team/our play. I don't have much hope for our season.

All I care about is Tuanzebe/McT/Gomes/Greenwood getting chances and playing well.

I have never been more scared than this season. Never. I can't see this team be in top 6. Yeah I am spoiled you might say... United is supposed to be in top 4 with this squad and with last year's squad but we are not.

Not excited at all.

This now feels like one huge con from the Glazers and I feel very contradicted about getting on board.

Have never felt like this prior to season start.

I’m pumped for football and the new season don’t get me wrong

But sort of not looking forward at the same time knowing the disappointment United will bring with the lack of ambition shown by ownership/Ed

The least i've been excited before a new season in a long, long time. Almost every summer there was that excitement from either a new manager (LVG/Mou) or new muppet signings (Di Maria, Falcao, Bastian, Zlatan, Pogba etc.). Hard to be excited from new defenders (as good as they are) when we got fleeced to the bare bones in the midfield/attack departments. We are short a RW, a CM of Pogba's caliber to compliment him, and a world class striker to take Rashford and Martial under his wing.

You, me and a few others. The rest seem to be all doom and gloom and I have no idea why. I think there are exciting times ahead. This is the most pumped I have been about a season in ages...

I am. Looking forward to seeing a style of football that we can get behind. Even if we don't have all the right players at the moment, the foundations are being laid and it's freakin football and United. Have to be some kind of sad not look forward to it.

Red Card for Casemiro!
I'm very excited. We're fitter than last season, we've had a lot of time for Ole and his team to get their tactics in, and the preseason looked good when we we had the first choice midfield playing. We've got a raw pacy and direct attack who've shown glimpses of gelling together, we've still got Pogba to ping magic all around the park. The hyped duo of Greenwood and Gomes will finally get a lot of gametime this year and Rashford looks ready to start being the main man. Most importantly, the defence is sorted with players who're solid in the tackle and can all play out from the back.

As long as Rashford, Pogba and one of Lindelof/Maguire stay injury free throughout the year, I'm quite confident that we'll give Spurs a run for their money and finish 3rd/4th.

love this post

Can't wait for Sunday.. Tbf, i was excited for pre season and absolutely loved it..

Genuinely excited to watch us play.. Can see there is a plan (it may or may not work out).. We are going in the right direction

I haven't been this excited for some time. I feel good. I have no illusions. Just hope. And it's been a while since I felt this way.

Most excited I've been for a long long time. I'm always optimistic at the start of every season but this one already feels special to me.
