Disgusting from Woodward and the club.
Taking the fans for a ride.
Taking the fans for a ride.
It's disgusting. They must take us for utter mugs. You really couldn't make it up
Think it was put on hold as Woody really doesn't want to bring one in.Why was it put on hold to begin with? We apparently began looking in January and absolutely no progress was made between then and the end of the season.
Its incredible that many of you cannot comprehend that bringing in a Technical Director during the middle of the Transfer season may have a negative effect on the general day to day running of the club and the overall success of that person.
Look at the ridiculous overreaction to this article in the thread and the responses from the posters, then consider what would be the reaction if a Director had come in in June and the purported failure by Woodward to make signings fell on his head?
United would have laid a deadline to find a Director prior to the Transfer window starting. Its obvious that they are yet to find a contact that is suitable for the role, that upholds the traditions of United, but provides something more than we already have.
If Gary Neville and his merry group of muppets keep banging on about finding "best in class", "best in class" is not just going to present itself at our door. Further, unlike footballers and managers, there is significant ramifications with regards to signing directors and executives from business. Especially when you consider that overall financial success and operation of the business is systematically relied on this single person. I would say the role is more important than a manager or a player at the club because he has to work with everybody.
Get your head out of your arses and stop thinking this is an overnight fix.
This worries me too. Woodward and Judge have proven themselves to be out of touch with the market. Chasing Maguire all summer to pay what we could've got him for at the beginning and demanding for £25m for Marcos Rojo with the wages he's on being the latest examples. They've also been trying to sell Darmian for what seems like an eternity and fail every time.So Woody will still negotiate the transfers. Essentially this would just feck things up even more as now Ole would be out of the loop so that Woodward and the Yes Man can feck things up even more.
Good post. The idea someone could have come in during the middle of the transfer window and made a difference is nuts. Its incredible that many of you cannot comprehend that bringing in a Technical Director during the middle of the Transfer season may have a negative effect on the general day to day running of the club and the overall success of that person.

I realise this is not an overnight fix. Although I don't know how long these things take, this seems to be taking a very long time. Its incredible that many of you cannot comprehend that bringing in a Technical Director during the middle of the Transfer season may have a negative effect on the general day to day running of the club and the overall success of that person.

Jesus Christ man they were talking about this in December 2018. Plenty of time to get someone in and get them ready to support our summer windowI realise this is not an overnight fix. Although I don't know how long these things take, this seems to be taking a very long time.
Do you know how long these appointments usually take and how long do you think it will take to appoint one please?
The club hoped to have a DoF in place by the start of the season as per Woodward's mouthpiece James Cooper in April. Not sure how much involvement they would have had immediately though, probably not a lot (assuming the Glazers intended to appoint someone which I doubt).Good post. The idea someone could have come in during the middle of the transfer window and made a difference is nuts.
That’s not to say we are well run. This appointment should have been made years ago... but trying to bring someone in during the window would have just made things worse
Manchester United are keen on appointing their first technical director later this year to back up new permanent manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sky Sports News understands.
The timing of the move remains uncertain, but United would like to have the new man in place before the start of the 2019/20 season in August.
I'll make it short, it doesn't matter what the role of the technical director is or whether Woodward exist or not. The CEO/Chaiman of a football club will always be in charge, nothing and no one can alter that. The only person that will lose power/influence is the manager.Could it be the club is not as financially rich as made out due to transfer blunders of the past 6 years and its a plan to operate within this existing recruitment structure to keep costs down?
If the owners/Woodward appointed a technical director that would mean handing over transfer activity power to someone and if the new man did not have the structure to do his work a media war would erupt with the new man, which in effect would have negative consequences for the owners. Rumours seem to suggest the role would not involve any negotiating or signing transfer targets. Basically, the role would be a front/face for Woodward who would still be in charge.
Storm the Glazers' house. They can't stop all of us.
Thanks for sharing that article. It seemed to me as if we had a lot of time but I wasn't sure. I think ideally we should have got one in before Ole but that didn't happen. So I thought we would have brought one in before the summer window but that didn't happen.Jesus Christ man they were talking about this in December 2018. Hire the guy and have him work within the budget appointed.Could it be the club is not as financially rich as made out due to transfer blunders of the past 6 years and its a plan to operate within this existing recruitment structure to keep costs down?

That's what I've heard too, the role is just a facade, which is why they have been looking at ex players with absolutely no experience of being a DoF.Rumours seem to suggest the role would not involve any negotiating or signing transfer targets. The first PR damage limitation strategy has just come out.
Boo Woodward at oldtrafford. He needs to feel humiliated.
