Should be interesting to see the lads making the step up. Don't think we'll see any of the new recruits from abroad (Emeran, Hoogewerf, Mejbri, Mejbri) but look forward to seeing the likes of Zidane Iqbal, Harvey Neville etc.

I doubt Mejbri plays much in the U18s. Despite being 16 years old he'll probably feature in the U23s. He might even get a cameo in the first team.

I'm sceptical of that. He'll surely start the season with the 18s once the international clearance comes through.

Doubt it. We have shitload of players in his position in the U23s. Probably next year if he proves to be too good for the U18s.

Hoogewerf on the bench - that's intriguing.

Anyone know what's up with Bejger and Forson? That's a very strong-looking bench.

Good start by us - Devine finds Elanga on the left, he gets past his man and shoots towards the far corner. Good save from Sunderland-keeper Newman.

Mastny with a great save after one of our defenders play a suicidal pass. We look like we lack a bit of creativity up front and probably will have to rely on Elangas pace if we are gonna break Sunderland down. Chong and Gomes both here watching.

Elangas looks like the only one who can create something at the moment. He looks quality and he's fast too.

McCann takes the penalty away from Elanga and scores. Thought he missed but the ball actually went straight through the net :) Keeper went right - McCann sent it down the middle.

Super play between Elanga, Devine and Heygarth - and Elanga curls home 2-0

Stanley with a superb through-ball for Wellens - good save again from Newman. Stanley has been good in this first half.

I like that I see the same thing across all levels now. Good passning, high intensity, high pressure. Doubling-up on players to win the ball back. Saw it with the U23 and we see the same with the U18s

Yes the first team pre season too, they seem to have adapted to it really well.

Elanga the best player in the first half. Stanley was very anonymous the first 20 but was really good the last 25. Hockenhull was surprisingly good - the last time I saw him, he looked a bit clumsy. Now he looked composed and strong in the tackles. A bit Pallister-like. Helm was really good in the central of the pitch - got involved in a lot of tackles. Devine on the left-back also had a very good first half.

I thought Mengi looked good too, he's a unit for this age group, very composed on the ball, brings it out of defence well and nice passing through the lines.

Newman with a great save from Stanley. The Sunderland-goalkeeper has been very good

3-0 Elanga to the line and puts in a low cross that Charlie Wellens can tap in from short range. Elanga is too good for the Sunderland-defenders. He gets past them every time he decides to.

Elanga has been improving consistently for a while now, he’s one to keep our eyes on.

Elanga has been incredible.
