The owners are happy the cash is rolling in, no need to have a good team on the pitch when the shirts are selling like hot cakes. So the club is successful. Who needs those pesky pieces of silverware when you can make loads of cash without them.

About a 4 out of 10.

Maguire and AWB are great signings. James is meh.

We needed at least two CMs and a top attacker, and it doesn't look likely we're getting them. I mean, we knew Herrera was leaving before last season even ended and still no CM...

Keeping Pogba is great, but, on the flip side, we haven't sold any of the rubbish.
I said this about a week ago...

Now, it's maybe a 2. Selling Lukaku with no replacement? What on earth... How are people content with this window?! Arsenal outspent us!

I don’t quite understand all the gloom re this transfer window.

Did we need a right back. Yes
Have we signed a right back. Yes

Did we need a centre back. Yes
Have we signed a centre back. Yes

Is Greenwood a special talent. Yes
Will Greenwood get game time. Yes

Did most think Lukaku was useless. Yes
Has Lukaku been shipped. Yes

Have we had issues making wrongful signings. Yes
Have we this time around signed any mercenaries after the money. No

Did we accept we were far behind rivals. Yes
Will that change in one window. No

It’s a god start at least. Perhaps in January, or certainly next summer we will look to address other key areas. RW, CM

Obviously it could have been bettered if perhaps Sancho was brought in and a midfielder but it won’t all happen at once.

I can accept that.

My only issue is not getting rid of more. 7 CBs is ridiculous. Hopefully more will leave before the European window shuts. Can’t believe Darmian is still here as well but similarly he will be gone this summer back to Italy.

Well we've just spent the summer doing the job that should have been done last summer, yet in the meantime we've lost Herrera and Lukaku, so I'll say 2, and I'm been kind.

I like the business we have done, and some of the business we haven't. Wan-Bissaka and Maguire look like good business, and James is a decent bet for the future. I'm also pleased that we haven't paid out stupid money for players that don't really want to join us (e.g. Dybala).

I would have liked to see some more outgoings (Bailly, Darmian, Matic, Rojo and Sanchez in particular), and that could still happen - the EPL transfer window has closed, but it's still open for most of the other European leagues.

I'm concerned that we haven't replaced Herrera (but perhaps Perreira can do the job), and we may miss having a physically imposing forward up front, but on balance I feel we are going into this season in better shape than last. We aren't likely to be serious contenders for the title, but I think we are an evens bet for top 4, and I'm fairly sure the football we play will be better to watch this season.

There's still a lot to do, but it's a reasonable start (6/10).

My first post, and such a contentious subject to start with but here is my view..

To bring in Wan Bissaka and Macguire is huge.... one of our biggest problems last year was the smaller teams......they would send in crosses invariably from our right and headers or rebounds would be scored...having defenders that can defend crosses in the box where De Gea is weak will make such a huge difference.... Macguire will also get on the end of crosses and corners (especially if Perreira takes them) in the opposition box and score goals....he could be worth quite a few pints next year....

With Ole’s system the most important thing is not to go behind and we have made that so much more possible now.

Obviously a little disappointed not to reinforce I. midfield but not losing Pogba is massive....I am looking forward to a good season from McTominay, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and also Fred and Perreira.... and really want to see so much more of Gomes....what a talent, it’s been a while since I have seen such raw young skill in a Utd shirt.

I am glad to see Lukaku gone, he just doesn’t fit the system and having the pace and energy of Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and James is frighteningly good.

I have been supporting United since the 70’s and hope that the likes of Matic and Mata are kept on for experience and stability with not too much playing time.... we have set up strongly from the back now let the kids enjoy themselves

Am I happy with the Glazers and Woodward, not a chance but do I support the players and manager, yes 100%..

I can't rate the window yet, we have not seen the team play. Ask me again in January. However, I will say that perhaps now we will see how all the Caf members clambering over the past few years for the club to "play the kids" will get their wish, and we will see if they are vindicated.

We've definitely improved at right back and hopefully also at centre back, although I'm not fully convinced by Maguire so will defer judgement slightly. Left back and defensive midfield are still weak but overall we should concede less goals.
The question now is where are we going to get our goals from? We don't have much goal threat in midfield other than Pogba who might get 10 - 15 in the season, so unless Sanchez and Martial turn up for the season fully revitalised then it looks like we will struggle. I think it's going to be really difficult to break into the top 4 again especially with Arsenal (who in Pepe have signed exactly the type of player we should have been looking for) and Spurs having very good windows.
On a positive note we've had a good pre-season and it seems like the squad is reasonably settled... at least no obvious in-fighting and whinging to the media this year!

Very very happy with our back 4 now and think our business in that department is smart. As good a back line as any in the prem in my opinion.

I’m quite concerned about our lack of business in midfield which would have made our lack of business in attack more palatable. Overall 7/10.

We're criminally short in midfield and attack.

We are one or two injuries away from real trouble.

With Maguire, I rate our transfer window 6/10, without Maguire it would have been a 4/10.

Fellaini and Herrera, both excellent players imo, left and are not replaced. Lkk was sold and not replaced. We already have a shortage of goals last season, it will be worse for 19/20. If pogs left before sept, our midfield creativity will be left almost entirely to Mata who now doesn’t really play that often anymore. Sure we have a number of players like perreira, lingaard, Fred etc, but none of them really convince me tbh. We need to be top 4, we need to start winning trophies (any kind) to stay attractive to top players out there. This season although we got our defence sorted out, our midfield will be in shambles if pogs leave, and we will no doubt be having a shortage of goals. God bless Man Utd.

I have gone for 5/10 as would 2 pts each for RB & CB,however would only say 1 pt for our Winger signing as he's probably going to be a backup

Really poor that neither DM or CM got addressed in the window.

Still time to make it 7/10 if we can shift Rojo and Damian.
8/10 if we did all of that and signed a CM
9/10 if we added a ST on top of that
10/10 if we added a RW on top of everything.

2/10

For the biggest club in the world (tm) to do that was embarrassing.

After signing Wan Bissaka and Maguire and then selling Lukaku I actually held out hope that we would bring in the players we needed.

7 centerbacks?

One left back? But saw two young and relatively cheap left backs move club on the last day for basically Rojo money and we didnt even try.

We needed to move out Rojo and Jones for say £10m a piece. Then Darmian.

That would pay for Tierney and facilitate a midfielder with the lukaku funds without going too far over a £100m net spend.

For me that was the single worst last day of the transfer window I've ever seen.

Had we tried too loan in Bale or James Rodriguez I would have been happier.

Out spent by Arsenal, out-bought by City (not surprisingly) and very possibly Spurs and Everton, who both strengthened almost everywhere they needed to. Unite: utter bollox as expected. the club I love and have supported for more tan half century is being destroyed from within

Based on players available on the market, what we needed and what we actually ended up with = 2.
We could have easily(not from Woodward/Judge/Glazers) perspective ended the summer with a team that should have been favourites for top 4.

Overpayed for AWB and Maguire(190k per week for 6 years).
Midfield and attack is worse than before. Defense is better, but not £130m better. Deadwood is still here.

I think this window has not changed a whole lot in regards to our chances of a top-4 finish. We have strengthened our defence, but weakened our midfield and attack. It might turn out to be a status-quo in regards to points achieved in a season.

There's been alot of talk about our defence being our biggest problem, and what has hampered our chances of top 4 (Yes, we should be challenging for the league, but reality is we don't..)
Comparing the 6 seasons before and after Fergie left, and we see that :
- We conceede on average 6,5 goals pr season more now than before Fergie left.
- We score on average 20(!) goals less pr season.

Theres a whole lot more points disappearing in the 20 goals less we score, than in the 6,5 we conceede more. Though I agree that last year was terrible, and that needed improving, which it luckily does look like has happened.

But, during this window we sold/rid us of players that was involved (goal or assist) in 31,9% of the goals we scored under Solskjaer. (Lukaku 9+2, Herrera 2+2). We haven't replaced any of them. Our goals scored under Solskjaer would equal to 64-65 goals scored over a season, and be a little over our average post-Fergie.

Instead of trying to replace these goal contributions, we put our hope and faith in it coming from players we already have that have yet to prove capable of pulling out such numbers. Also we hope that our improved defence will reduce the amount of goals conceeded to such a level our points increase enough for a top 4 finish.

I feel too much of our coming season is based on hopes of players turning good, luck in regards to injuries and faith in our youth becoming senior players.
Some of it might turn good, but I feel too much is put up to chance for it all to go well. And to be honest, we need alot to go well in our midfield/attack for us to challenge top 4.

Most of you won't like what's written below but the upside is that you'll be able to use it as stick to beat me with if I end up being entirely wrong.

Wan Bissaka
- Certainly the best of our signings and does seems highly skilled in the defensive side of the game. However, the concerns regarding his offensive qualities remain valid and with near enough all the best sides playing a formation where width is provided in large part by their respective full-backs this could easily become a greater problem going forward.

Maguire - An above average player who offers nothing particularly special. Worse than that he thinks he is better than he actually is and it's a sad indictment on the current quality of the game's central defenders that the club somehow managed to break the transfer record for this player. We'll be lamenting these facts by the end of the season if not the following one.

James - Woodward may as well have had a £15 million bonfire. He is the epitome of a kick-and-rush merchant and unequivocally out of his depth at this level. He'll be relegated to bench-warmer by Christmas and out on his arse by the summer.

Yeah, the same arsenal with well documented money problems. Which kind of proves we aren't willing to spend.

We needed to improve right side attack - midfield - defense in that order. We only improved 1 of those 3 areas, which is a third. I rate it 3/10, a third, plus 1 bonus point because Wan-Bissaka is such a great signing. I voted 4/10.

Going through my line-up prediction and, to me, it’s abundantly clear we are woefully short of another top class forward.

Whether it’s on the right or behind the striker, Man United should have better quality and more goals available.

We do need several players to step it up a level.

I agree with your comments. Trouble is we have got ourselves in so much trouble over the past few windows by not signing the required players. Now we have made a start by making what should be good signings in AWB and Maguire but have once again left midfield bare and the most glaring mistake of all by not replacing Lukaku with a recognised striker. Years ago Fergie stated that we needed a 20 goals a season man to win the League, he went out and bought Brian " chocky " McClair and hey presto. Far too much pressure on Rashford, Martial and Greenwood ( or James ) to start knocking in huge numbers of goals. For a start who provides the passes/openings to score. More likely to score from set pieces with Maguire causing trouble from corners or free kicks.

Its definitely been a positive start to things. Starting to clear out some of the deadwood, and bringing in young, hungry British players who play with some actual passion and desire. There are still a couple of obvious weaknesses in the squad (midfield, RW) that it would have been nice to see addressed, but the signings we have made are pretty much bang on.

What deadwood did we clear out?

Not sure Lukaku having been there for 2 seasons scoring 42 in 96 counts.

Deadwood to me is Jones, been at the club for 9 seasons and useless. Or Rojo. Or Smalling ...

Valencia, Herrera and Lukaku. There is definitely a lot more to go, including all of the players you mentioned.

-How is his aerial ability nothing special? If you’re unable to see it yourself then there’s lots of stats indicating that he’s perhaps the aerially best center back in the league.

-Where has he indicated that he thinks he’s better than what he actually is? Weird statement considering how down to earth he is.

Really, really wish we'd bought a central midfielder or two and a creative, right-sided attacker.
