My expectation is for us to finish 6 th in the league and I honestly don't care if we do that playing an attractive brand of football. Something that got me glued to watching Manchester united in the first place is not the volume of trophies but the brand of footy that we made our own.

Don't give a crap about league position or trophies this season, but let's see a glimpse of the united of old

If that teamsheet comes out and Greenwood is on it I will be excited, If he gets on the scoresheet and we beat Chelsea I'm going to go mental!

I am buzzing based on the fact that we didn’t reinforce midfield/attack thus are forced to use youth and we do have some promising youths coming through in Greenwood and Gomez. I was happy we didn’t get Mandzucik and hope we don’t buy Llorente. My buzz will be severely reduced when I see mata and Lingard on the team sheet on Sunday though

Yes, very excited to try and finish top 4......

:houllier:

I'm excited to watch football again, but as far as what we can do, I don't believe in Ole. We didn't address the midfield so how can I be happy?

First time in ages, I'm not excited. I've always had high hopes every season but not this one. Hopefully, that'll work in our favour and the increased low expectations might take the pressure off.

I’m with the OP, very excited for this season. We’ll see some of the young lads coming through and I’m keen to see what Ole (plus Phelan, McKenna, Carrick) has been working with the players on.

This time last year I was dreading the start of the season, Jose whining and moaning In the media whereas this year it feels a bit more upbeat from the management, and Ole seems to be handling things in the right way.

Same negativity from the fan base but that’s been the same for ages and it won’t go anywhere for a long time I suspect.

Nervous as feck. Last season we failed to beat City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Wolves, PSG, Juventus and Valencia at home. Just desperate to see us beat someone again and walk back from the ground buzzing to watch the highlights.

I'm curious to see how the young guns rise to the challenge. I expect a lot from Rashford and Martial. The pressure is on for the both of them. I believe we have significantly improved on our defense, and that should provide a good platform for our attackers.
We are short on one good quality midfielder, however, i think we can overcome that with industry from our current boys.

I'm far more excited about the team this season than i was when we brought in the likes of Falcao etc.

Give Ole some credit, he bought solid players for the positions we needed to upgrade. Realistically we could not change the majority of the squad. I'm positive, given more windows, he will address the positions we need to improve on. What has surprised me is that he wanted Sancho for the right wing and when he realized he wasn't going to get him, he did not rush out and get someone he was less convinced of.

Let's go...

Yeah I'm quite excited. A lot of unknowns so in reality, we could sway anywhere from 3rd down to 8th.

My biggest concern last season was that I just didn't like the team. We've recruited well though, bought in young players with the right attitudes. We've also given those knocking on the door a chance so I'm looking forward to seeing that.

We've worked on our fitness a lot as well, and I think that will have a bigger impact this year than any signing.

How long will it last? I'm not sure. I expect us to gas at some point. But having a team that I can say I like is enough for me.

Late Spurs winner, City and Liverpool demolition. Shame it looks like it'll be the same again for the teams above us but whatever, let's get back into the top 4 and build on that next year

There are a couple of positions he didn't address and realistically, we could improve the squad if we had owners with the ambitions to be back winners. We are one of the world's richest clubs. We chose not to.

Pogba never gives up? I’d beg to differ.

But yeah bring it on!

I’m going for a glorious 1-0 win injury time from Harry’s head

I can't wait to batter Chelsea tomorrow with a team full of kids.

Alan Hansen will lose his shit to the tune of:

Let's ask a question, would the team we have today beat the team that started last season ?

12 months ago we started the season with

De Gea; Darmian, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw; Pereira, Fred (McTominay 76), Pogba (c) (Fellaini 83); Mata, Alexis, Rashford (Lukaku 67).

Today I expect something like

De Gea, AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial. With one of Greenwood or Gomes getting some time from the bench.

It's had to argue that the line up today isn't better than 12 months ago. Sure we'e still miles behind City and Liverpool but I think the direction is the correct one

Good way to think about but you are comparing a real line up of last year vs an ideal line up from today, without any injuries or suspension. A fair comparison would be to get young in for Darmian, Herrera for Pereira, Smalling for Bailly, Lukaku for Alexis and maybe Martial/Lingard for Mata.

Having said that, the current line up still shows more promise and hopefully we improve more as a collective as the season progresses. In terms of pure raw talent, we definitely have a stronger defence but a weakened midfield and attack.

I'm excited. Can't wait to see what United are like after a full pre-season with Ole. I think the drop in form last season was because of player fitness, and according to reports our team fitness is up 50% from last pre-season. If we can play that high-intensity game Ole seems to want, I think it could be really good. It's little more than a year since we finished 2nd, and I think the squad underperformed last year. If De Gea is back to his usual, with the defensive addition, the back end will be really good. If Rashford & Martial can put up bigger numbers up front, it'll be really good. I think we can nab 3rd.

Looking forward to seeing our new guys doing it and I feel we’ll get a good result today.

Yes can't wait, it may be an inconsistent season but if we can bed in the new players and some of the youngsters, whilst playing with a higher intensity, then I'll be more than happy. If we can keep clean sheets, then who know what we can do.

all depends really. As long as I dint see Matic, Young, mata and other trash in the line up and I see the youth then I’ll be excited.

Can't f**king wait for this, time to forget all the negative shit and get behind the team. Its a new season and football can turn around very quickly, with the right approach and with proper fight shown in every single game. Think people are far too quick to write off our chances.

Alright we're not winning any leagues this year, but theres not as much between the likes of Spurs and ourselves as people seem to think. There was only 5 points between us last season, and that was with us basically only playing half a season and a shit defence.

No not at all. I know we are in for another horrid season.
No, not really
Considering I couldn't wait for last season to end and this season just seems like a continuation of it, I can't say I'm as excited as I should be.
If it looked like Ole was going to play the youngsters and not Matic,Mata,Young,Jones before them I'd be looking forward to the season...but it doesn't look like that. As a season ticket holder after last season it's difficult to see how we aren't better in defence and worse in every other area.

Why any United fan would be buzzing about this season, at this point, City are champions, Liverpool champions of (can't even type the rest), we've had a terrible season and weakened our team. There is a way I think that it could be positive, improve the back four tick, get rid of the tried and tested failures not tick, and move on with Tuanzebe, Gomes, Greenwood but that won't really happen.

So no....not at all. And the rest just seems like top red syndrome. I'll go to games. I'm expecting us to play better to start with but we are lacking quality and I think a few key injuries or the likes of DeGea, Pogba getting pissed off with playing with players below their level, and we could end up with a worse season than last season.
I’ve been moaning and groaning all damn summer about the lack of signings in midfield. Transfer window is now closed and I’m just glad the football is back. A good performance and result on Sunday will definitely shut me and the rest of the moaners in here up which is what I’m hoping for!
Can't wait to see Matic, Mata and Lingard week in, week out. Or maybe Pereira fouling his shadow and Youngy playing in the cups instead of Laird and Williams
Fear it'll be another frustrating season but just happy for football to be back
Excited for football to be back but it's going to be a long season.
never have I been buzzing less
Buzzing what marijuana? It's going to take some stimulant to overcome the treacherous campaign we are about to witness
Nah. I’ve been a bit disillusioned with United.

happy to see others are though, hopefully a couple of good performances will make that enthusiasm infectious
Not so much buzzing as dreading.
I am looking forward for football to start in general... i dont have high hopes for Manchester United this season though. Top4 and some decent football every once in a while would be a good season for me.
As a lover of football, of course. As a fan of Manchester United, I'm expecting the worst so literally anything positive happening will be a bonus.
Who's buzzing now?

Good.. Hoepfully this gives us some confidence into next few games.

I'll take my shovel and dig up another thread.
