Record breaking transfer for a full back, while having the likes of Walker, Mendy, Zinchenko and no one blinks an eye.
Business as usual for Cashiola then.

City first, Liverpool second, the only interesting competition will be 3-6. Would love to see Wolves, Leicester, or Everton sneak in over Chelsea.

Exactly, Pep or money was it?

I would love it if we surprise everyone this season and get into a fight with Spurs and Liverpool, but City are just a machine.

Credit where credit is due, pep has built a great team and everyone up top has splashed the cash.

What has solksjaer spent, 150m and still miles away from man city.

still should have signed dutch defender matthijs de Ligt. he looked world class in the game versus atletico

if i had been manager he would have been my first sighing, then joão félix. 2 signings. a 19 and 20 year old.

This place would be fuming if City had spend 200 million for these two. The end of the football, Pep's spending is insane etc

The eye watering commission that Raiola demands and the knowledge that the Pizzaman will most likely agitate his client to move again in 2/3 years time put City off De Ligt.
We do have 2 nice prospects at CB (Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis) so maybe we can get by with what we have until they're ready?

Their consistency is something we've never seen in this country before.
Just watch them turn Spurs over like it's nothing.

It's gonna suck that they're going to be the first team other than us to win the PL 3 times in a row.

Yep, Spurs next in line for a spanking, they can limp back to WHL and get some wind back in their sales giving Newcastle a going over the week after.

At least Spurs can match them in the fouling department, although Spurs can be more on the dirty side in their fouling rather than tactical. City might accrue some injuries once Spurs realise they have no hope of winning and turn to the dark arts.

A very good chance they do 4 in a row 20/21. If Guardiola stays for his last year & they are banned from CL, it will be a very easy run for them.

i fear they may dominate the league like Lyon, Celtic, Rangers, Juventus, PSG, Bayer did/have done.
If Pep stays long term then it's possible. No idea if Liverpool will keep up the pressure they put on City but Pep is ridiculously consistent with his league performances.

Seems probable, they should have extra motivation against Spurs still after the CL semi final shocker last season.

A lot depends on the outcome of the current investigations. If no action is taken then FFP is effectively dead.

Guardiola's huge spending has lead to the big clubs lobbying UEFA to take action. City, knowing eyes are on them have reigned their spending in to a degree. It's taken much deception & creative accountancy but they've still managed to put together a world class squad. It's crazy to think of the players they'd have if they had unfettered access to Mansour's cash. They could easily spend to the point where there is no drop in quality from their first to their second team.

Clubs that have won Championships 4,5,6 x in a row have had massive financial dominance over their leagues. This is a new phenomenom in English football. It's not unfeasible that City could go on a run like Juventus, PSG, Celtic, Bayern.

Has anyone posted this? One of the few pieces of journalism I've seen in recent years that actually acknowledges that Manchester City as a club are being used by a deeply ethically compromised government as a soft propaganda tool.

Doesn't get talked about enough. This is why I don't want a Saudi takeover at United.
"Doesn't get talked about enough"? It's all The Independent and The Guardian have talked about since Pep wore his yellow ribbon for the first time.

Some news on the investigations front. FIFA have fined us 370,000 Swiss Francs for our transfer dealings with youth players.

Importantly, no transfer ban.

How come chelsea got one?
Honestly no idea, given the lack of specific information about the charges. Can only assume that City's breaches of FIFA's regulations were less egregious?

Chelsea were charged with 29 cases. When City were charged they only had 9 cases to answer.

Must have been able to completely disprove the other charges then. Good result as I was convinced that a ban was coming.
Me too. Thought it would be 1 window plus another one suspended.
As previously said must have been not too serious breaches.
The most contentious accusations recently concerned Argentinian prospect Benjamin Garre but I think that one was already settled with the selling club and FIFA.

Yea reading through the lines on club statement, the fine had nothing to do with the specifics of the Garre transfer. "...concerning the international transfer of players under the age of 18, particularly in relation to their trial periods and participation in friendly games."

Who knows. Various journalists have suggested anything from a one year CL ban to a three year CL ban. But then these same journalists were sure we'd receive a transfer ban from FIFA, so I'd guess the truth is that no-one knows.
Are these the same journalists whose living partially depends on the number of clicks that their pieces yield?
Speculating a long ban will reel em in.

i forgot about the transfer ban thing. but city have loads of cash. pep can get any player he wants. when you look at that bench against west ham. i would say they are stronger than barcelona. but that dutch defender would have been a perfect addition, because he looks world class. juventus look strong now too.

do they look fitter and sharper this season? they are making the epl look like the spl

imo sterling is still the best play that city ever signed in the pep era... he slowly improved. pep knows that, he has more playing time than any other player

Sterling didn't sign in Pep era. He was signed before he arrived.

Uh-oh, you've just taken this thread on to a doping tangent...
That was not my intent

So was his goal line clearance in the charity shield. He’s certainly found a new athletic step this season.
Now that you mention it...

He had a mediocre 2018-19 season so he's probably due for some sort of correction
