I can't remember why I joined this war.
Unfortunately yesterday showed how utterly dependent we are on him. First half he was awful and so where we. Second half he turned it up and so did the rest of the team. I think letting him go is not an option as long as we don't add one or two more creative midfielders to this squad. The truth is though you can't keep a player forever who is hellbent on getting a move somewhere else.

I expected some damaging headlines from him and his agent on the morning of our first match but at least they’ve avoided that tactic. That reflects well on Pogba given how desperate Raiola must have been to do his usual thing.
You spoke too soon

It's a shame. I hope Ole tells him to shut his mouth and all strap that fat Jabba the Hut slimeball's gob shut too, focus on this season and maybe he'll be allowed to leave next summer.

First game of the season, nice win.

Mouthing off about you never know again.

Poison
He has been misquoted, I’m not a huge Pogba fan at all, but on this occasion he didn’t say anything provocative.

Said that he was ‘happy in Manchester, happy when he plays, he’ll give his best for the team.’

He said that there will always be words (from 3rd parties) about him, but he was happy to give his all on the pitch and was happy in the team.

It comes across very different to French speakers than the sensationalist journalists make out.

Far from mouthing off, far from poison.

Not disagreeing with you and I don't doubt that he'll not be here next season - I'd be happy to see him replaced with player more in line with Oles style.

But he didn't say anything provocative or out of line in this interview, in fact he came across as quite conciliatory.

Maybe.

But unless somebody comes up with 150mil he won't be leaving.

Will Real put the money up?

No, not Lisbon..Lisburn!
You guys have got this translation of Pogba's comments all wrong.
What he said was:
"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea."
Glad to set things right.

If we get the £150m we will well I think we have told him that so he understands.

He is our best player so to lose him would be bad of course but if we were to replace him with 2 quality players in midfield it would at least help for a CDM and a CAM.

Anyone who wanted us to get rid has no clue about football.
Its not about talant, its about the team. Some of you forget the influence of a player, who is talking all the time about leaving, missed goals..... the destructive power of a player......

If Bale to China hadn’t fallen through he’d have gone to Madrid and we would have signed SMS and Bruno.
No chance. If we'd wanted one of Bruno or SMS, we'd have signed one of them even with Pogba staying.

It's fairly obvious that United told Pogba early doors that this Summer, after missing out on CL and it being Ole's first full season, he wouldn't be allowed to leave at any price. The club have no doubt told Pogba that if he's unhappy next Summer, it can be looked at.

It's up to United now to play great football and make Pogba want to be part of it, if not, then next Summer we'll hopefully have CL and a much more positive outlook, giving us many more options to replace Pogba if he wants to move on.

Don't bother, whatever he says will always be interpreted the worst way by some.

See british media are quoting he want's to leave- but it seems more like he was saying there is always this same question rather than saying his future is in the air? Any native french speakers clarify?

Jesus Christ, he actively got Jose sacked. Stopped playing the last part of the season, clearly wants to go but the fans that don’t trust him are the issue.

He will be here for another season which is good enough at this point. If we sell him next summer, I hope the club starts with the search for alternatives

How did he get Jose sacked when he saved him from being sacked vs Newcastle. You remember the home where we were trailing for 2 goals and him and Martial saved Jose from being sacked ? Or maybe you erased it from your memory. Besides Jose is gone, just let it go
What did he say exactly?
It was fairly well explained in the few posts prior. The issue with Pogba is that some fans want him to speak like he is a hardcore fan of Man United, like he is supposed to crush their insecurities or calm their anger.

Jose got himself the sack by his public shaming of the team and his insistence on playing Lukaku when he was out of form. Swapping Martial for Sanchez when Martial was in fantastic form didnt help. No coincidence he got himself sacked the last 2 jobs hes been in either, but of course its Pogbas fault.

We can’t let what happened to Herrera happen to Pogba, so either he signs a new contract this season or we sell next summer.

Doubt that , we did sign Maguire a year later for world record. If poggba goes what are the other options which have already not been taken by others?

I just want him to play football and not bring the circus every week.

That isn’t going to happen so much like the PSG fans have finally come round to the idea that neymar is bad news so do we with pogba who only cares about himself.

The British press are misquoting.

He was saying he's happy to play, happy in Manchester but there will always be people talking, always the same question.

Even with Pogba we have gaping holes in midfield that needs addressing ASAP.
January I hope.
I think we'll bring someone in over January as well, mainly because I think Fred and Matic are also finished at United. Expecting another bid for Longstaff and maybe do some work on SMS for the following summer which will allow Pogba to leave.

As many have said though, we need to continue in this vein of signing players who want to be here and aren't coming for a payday.

That's the Caf in a nutshell, a 4-0 win vs Chelsea isn't good enough for some on here and still bash the team.
He was rusty yesterday but showed great professionalism for someone who wants out. I don't mind him staying for another season before leaving as long as he doesn't down tools and absolutely shaft us.

If the club believed that why wouldn't they have brought someone in during the summer, which is a better window? There were players available.

Yeah there were a lot of nerves yesterday from our players, they just need to settle down and the result yesterday would've helped. I can't see him downing tools, he looks very much up for the challenge that was set for him and I can't wait for the games to come thick and fast now.

Yup even without clearly lacking match fitness, he was working hard and getting back to defend our box. Also covered for AWB when he got beaten once by Pulisic. That's not a usual occurrence I think.

Ultimately it's all about the team with him. When the team is doing fairly well on it's own, he has the potential to take it to another dimension. It's why we really need to try and keep him while actively adding more quality around him. Imagine he had a midfield partner who is better and further in his development than McTominay.

Yeah but the 2 circus have very little in common. Neymar and his camp have beena hundred times worse.

I would agree with this. Players have their own agendas and fans have theirs. We have to accept that sometimes the 2 don't go in the same direction.

Was the stuff about big question mark taken out of context?

Im not sure Madrid want him as much as some think, Zidane maybe sure, but they spent well over what he is worth so why not go for him and Hazard first, the laughable offer they made towards the end was a big slap in the face to Pogba from Madrid and maybe he dislikes them more than us at the moment, a bit like the DeGea thing where for some reason it didnt get over the line (mysterious fax machines at either end).

No doubt the rumours will rumble on all season, thats a given and every single word and gesture and tweet of his will be poured over and analysed as a sign he wants out, until he eventually goes next summer or signs a new contract, we've all been here before.

I am not so sure about that. Yesteerday highlighted nothing that was not previously known. He played rather recklessly in the first 30mins, some silly, over-elaborate attempts at various bits'n'pieces. All uneccesary and irresponsible. But... when he settled down, and played football, he was by far the best player on the park. Playing a different game in many ways. The boy is undoubted class. And players all want to be a part of a Pogba who is playing well.

But.. I think he's off. Real want him, he wants out, and Real Madrid, invariably, find a way to get the players they want eventually.

Wrong. Pogba has publicly stated he wanted to leave (Neymar and his camp said nothing) and agitated at least as much in media briefings that he wasn't considering staying one more year.

Pogba has been worse than Neymar by all accounts.
