Yeah bit harsh he's totally good enough to play for a Brighton or maybe even a Watford if he develops really well.
Mount the season before he played in the prem: 11 goals in 44 games at championship level.

Alli the season before he played in the prem: 16 goals in 44 games at league one level.

Alli's final league season: 16 goals 8 assists, YPOTY, team of the season.

Mason Mount last season in the league: 9 goals 4 assists, not toty, not ypoty.

Alli was standout magic in league one, Mount was just good in a decent Derby side. Oh, and at Mount's age Alli had his breakout season of 10 goals 9 assists. Prepared to bet right now Mount will struggle to get more than 3-4 goals and more than 4 assists.

And are we going to ignore the cup when he played PL opposition?

Anyway the point is dismissing a 20 year old the first time you saw him play (don't tell me, you were an avid watcher of Derby, Vittese and our youth teams?) because he didn't light up an away game against Man United Is particularly uncalled for.

Domestic cup ties can be famously pretty turbulent because 'pl opposition' often play experimental/youthful sides.

I watched him for Derby, I like championship football. He's a good young player but he didn't look above championship level last season or out of place at that level at all, he wasn't even the best player at his club. I'm far from just judging him against United, I never thought he was remotely ready to be a top six regular midfielder yet.

I don’t think Tammy or Mason (at this point) are the level Chelsea are striving for. But what choice do they have with the ban?

Giroud, who played great in the Europa final, and was good enough to win a world cup with France and Pulisic, who has 3 years in the Bundesliga and has 30 caps / 13 goals in international football. I would like to see Giroud as our starting striker, with Pulisic playing behind him centrally, Tammy & Mason used in home games against weaker teams to see how they get on.

Considering you don't have a clear undisputed starter up front it does make sense to me to start a really exciting home grown striker who scored nearly 30 goals on loan last year. He did nearly score to be fair. It is also pretty typical to start a new signing on the bench for a first game.

Plus after years of talk about Chelsea not playing their youngsters Lampard probably wanted to make a bit of a statement and astutely knew that if you won it would be a huge starting point for him.

We on about Mason or Tammy?

I think Mount could potentially get 10, he gets in very good positions to score.
Depends how many games he'll start.

You've already said you'll be much better when Loftus-Cheek- Willian, CHO are all fit again so I presume they're all going to be play in the 3 positions behind the striker....;)

So it looks like it's just us and Arsenal fighting for fourth.

Should've lost that match, seem like a team that loses steam at the 60th minute mark.

Can't wait for their fans to start turning on Lampard.

Won't be for a while but it'll happen.

Tough game after midweek, but the lack of control today must be worrying.

Lucky to get a point today. Leicester smashed them at the bridge.

Zouma looks a liability and not sure Kovacic or Jorginho can handle a physical battle in the midfield. Leicester were first to everything although the midweek fatigue might have played a part. Worrying though.

This is being overstated.

They need to sort out finishing and defending counters but they have enough quality to challenge for 4th place.
Those are two huge aspects of competing in the premier league. Not sure there is a quick fix for those.

Why does Lampard look deserted from his coaching staff/bench? Contrast to Ole who looks to be a culmination of Mike, Carrick, Keiran- constant communication and discussion with them.

Is it Franks ego, social awkwardness or simply the lack of people he trusts?

Odd figure

Wanna bet?

They downgraded their manager, lost the only other world class player at the team who was also the absolute star (Hazard) and other teams have improved whereas they've been unable to do anything in the market.

So they just need to sort out attacking and defending?

Ole enjoys working with and wanted these guys there.

Lampard gets what he is given.

Transfer ban has killed them. Their attack is relying on a rookie and Pulisic. I'll be gobsmacked if they score more than 60 league goals this season. Those last 20 minutes were something else. The amount of space Leicester had.
Few pages ago I said they would be fine, I am beginning to doubt.

Not sure why some are so convinced they’ll get top four. I’m sure plenty said it about us a-few games into Moyes’ reign just because of who we are. Chelsea look a fecking shambles.

To be honest, I saw a fair bit of Derby last season and it seemed to be a theme where they could go from looking like a great, silky smooth machine to looking a mess, almost in an instant. I’m not convinced by Lampard whatsoever.

Using all your energy in the first half is not good management.

If Leceister had a Silva, De Bruyne or even an Ozil then they win that game by three or four goals. Have not seen a game like that in a very long time where a team has so much time and space in front of them when advancing into the opposition's half. Would be concerned watching that as a Chelsea fan.

That 2nd half, wow. Leicester were cutting through them at will.

They looked lost after 30 minutes. It was weird. They could have been 3-0 up in the first 20-25 mins and then Leicester realized they were playing in a football match and they could have gone on to win by a landslide.

Yeah, they had no midfield. Every time the ball turned over, the three Leicester forwards were already facing the Chelsea defence. Same as last week too.

That squad is the 6th best in the league. At best.

And Lampard may well go on to become a great manager, but so far all he's done is take Derby from the playoffs .. to the playoffs, with a couple of PL quality players coming in on loan for him to help out. They finished a point lower than the season before and were comprehensively outplayed by Villa in the final.
