If Sanchez comes good, I would hope it's on the right as I'd hate to see either Martial or Rashford displaced.

We're all rose-tinted United supporters here so I'll throw it out there anyway, but imagine top gear from Rashford, Martial and Sanchez at the same time, same pitch and same shirt. Frightening stuff.
Not sure Sanchez he has a top gear anymore. Not sure he has the thrust & directness to go on the outside of a FB playing on the right. Hopefully he can contribute with a few goals playing centrally when we need to rest Martial/ Rashford. Then move on in January or the summer hopefully.

I think it's undecided. He played in such a disjointed team, its difficult to gauge whether his lack of sharpness was solely down to him.

Even though he’s lost his stamina/legs, he still should be able to be a decent finisher

Why do people want to get rid of him now? Our window is closed, we can't sign a replacement. Much better to keep him as an option for now and see if he can make a difference.
Most blokes on these board aren't smart and can't assess things rationally. Their opinions are way too emotionally driven at time to take them seriously. How could anyone thinking things through would hope for us to lose another attacker right now when we're already light enough as it is and can't bring anyone with the window closed.

Like I said some folks just lashing out emotionally, that's all.

Solskjær on Alexis Sánchez: "We don't have the biggest forward line in numbers. so Alexis might end up playing a lot more games than you expect. We expect him to come good at this club, he's quality."
And this makes sense. There is nothing to be gained from letting Sanchez go right now. If he gets himself fit he had a good summer Copa and as a striker he's not lost the ability to kick a ball well, even if the explosive player is gone. Ole is not going to be harsh on a player who is working to get fit but unfortunately keeps getting injured, and there's no point introducing negativity into the club.

I'd personally use him as a sub option striker or number 10. Not a fan of him out wide, just doesn't have the pace or stamina to play there anymore.

We will play plenty of games and we don't have back up striker (assuming Greenwood will play as RW), so Sanchez can lead the line. He is good at pressing and also playing direct will suit him.

Looking at his arsenal highlights makes me sad, at his best he was a total match winner. We should have been all over him when he was leaving Barca or not at all. The last season and a half for Arsenal he was quite seriously dropping off and visibly sulking and it’s only gotten worse. To further complicate things He’s a leader on the absolute periphery here. We are stuck with Rooney 2.0 but at least Rooney gave the club and fans his best years. I don’t see Alexis turning it around this season or ever getting back to top form in England again. I don’t think the other players here like him or think he’s worth the money so it’s a total struggle, the team needs to be set up around him. Our scouts/Ed have messed up yet again with this one big time.

He can play behind the front two. On form he is much better than Lingard. As RVP said he needs to be happy. All players need to be happy to play well. If he thinks Ole is going to give him a fair chance he will come good. Yes he probably would come off the bench but as we saw in Copa America, he still can play a bit. It is better to keep him this season as we do not have much up front with Martial and Rashford with Greenwood as back up and James on the wings.

Other strikers like forlan and Falcao manages to turn it around after failing at at United, even Torres had a Renaissance of sorts after his nightmare at Chelsea.

I actually can’t stand the sight of Sanchez, makes me sick, but it’s this sunken cost fallacy that brings hope for everyone!

He can score. He is a better finisher than any of our front line. His problem is his fitness. If Ole is willing to wait till he is completely fit, fair enough.

Sanchez is finished as a top player or even as a squad player for a top team. We should look to move him on in January and get someone else to be a solid backup to our forwards.

To be honest I wanted so many deadwood players to leave Manutd ..it maynot be realistic from a coach perspective as you need a squad.

1/ Alexis sanchez
2/ Mata
3/ Damian
4/ Rojo
5/ Matic
6/ Fred

Now since Lukaku left ,Unfortunately i don't think Ole would let Sanchez go as he needs backup players for a striker or winger position.

On his day he’s still the best striker on our team. Martial and Rashford play a few games well then completely disappear. Sanchez has too many injuries last season that’s my only worry he has started getting hamstring injuries now.

Did he not score 30 goals in his last season for arsenal ? He didn't look great in his final 6 months though... narrative was he was sulking

Yes he did score 24 league goals in 38 games for Arsenal in his last full season. I think Jose messed him up as he did to many others. I feel that Ole knows how to handle him after learning from SAF. I am sure he will come good at least better than under Jose. He is a player who needs the freedom to play. He can replace Lingard in some games and along with Martial and Rashford he can create goals. Or he can take the place of either Martial or Rashford when they need a break too. He is a quality player and is only 30 years old. You do not become a horrible player in one season or half a season.

You cannot say that if he never showed once since he's been at United that he can better than both. What he did at Arsenal is absolutely irrelevant to the player he is now for United.

We shouldn't be selling Sanchez. I didn't watch the game but from what I read James is far away from being ready still. Sanchez hasn't exactly set the world alight since he arrived at the club, this much is obvious, but surely we can't be relying on Greenwood and/or Gomes/Chong at a push alone to come on from the bench and bail us out when the going gets tricky.

I hope he lets Sanchez go and give the youngsters a chance. Even if we loose with them, atleast he is looking forward to the future and rebuilding the team. The departure of sanchez wont hurt the team that much though
he may help in few games.

If we let Sanchez go because we want to play Gomes & Greenwood, no issue. But if we let Sanchez go because we want to play Lingard & Mata then that’s an issue.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Sanchez is already behind Lingard and Mata. Hell, even Greenwood seems to be higher in the pecking order already. Gomes is the one which it might benefit as he's probably looking at the left wing and #10 as the two spots he's most likely to get opportunities in.

We have seen from Ole that patience is needed to clear out underperforming stars

Ashely Young & Matic are no longer in our starting XI
Smalling is dropped out from the squad completely
Lingard / Mata will soon follow if they don't perform

Wouldn't count on Matic being out of squad, he could play today.

Except he's not a striker, he's a left winger and has never played as a forward...
