Your bloody right I'm loving it now!

Hang on, but you lot have been judging him already on an apparent $hit transfer window and told everyone our season was a write off?

Changing the goal posts to suit your pathetic agenda.
Whether we a title or finish 8th, Woodward is Woodward! An incompetent bozo with a marginal knowledge of football and someone who has underachieved in a job which others would have done much better and also someone who I wouldn’t rule out spends an unhealthy amount of time on United fan forums defending his name instead of doing his job.

Still dont get why some fans defend our lack of transfer recruitment this summer as they said it was supposedly totally unfeasible to rebuild the team with 4 or 5 signings in one summer and yet Atletico Madrid are smashing it this summer?

Maybe because they haven’t spent over half a billion in net over the last few years? Maybe because they’ve got 270m just from selling Rodri, Hernandez and
Griezmann?

Btw they’re in the black for net spend by around €30m right now. After Rodrigo their net spend for this year will still be less than ours....

Had we not backed LVG and Jose to the level we did, we would have had a much bigger budget for this summer. All the big clubs have gone through 3/4 years of barely spending anything when we were spending like crazy. Woodward’s 2 mistakes were backing shit managers without a plan and overpaying. Now we’re paying for that.

I don’t blame the Glazers for pulling back, they have feck all to show for investment which has been on man city’s level in the last few years.

Atletico Madrid are leaving the transfer window weaker than they entered it.

I don't think it is a question of Ole being 'backed' or not with respect to us not signing a midfielder or attacker. I think it is more that the board and Ole jointly agree that the rebuild will take more than one window and that we wait for the right players at the right price.

What right players and right price are we talking about? Woodward can't even convince the players to run down contracts for us to reduce price. This reactive board can never catch up with this idealistic view as other clubs dont sit idle with you improve.

Does this mean that they don't care about getting into Champions League this year then. We all know that we were not going to get 6/7 players in this summer, but it should have been spread out through the team. Right down the spine first, then your Full backs and wide players.
Ole was wanting a midfielder and Woodward should have got him one.

My point was really only that despite the media's and the Caf's insinuations that there is some sort of continuous conflict or friction between the manager's interest in wanting signings on the one hand and the board's interesting in wanting to be tight on the other hand, I don't really think that necessarily is the case anymore. That might have been the case under Mourinho, but I just get the feeling that there might be more unity of thought and strategy wrt the direction of the club now. I think, or at least I hope, both our CEO and board as well as our manager, agree that the current project is a long term one.

United needs to move forward, no nostalgia and backwards appointments.

In a club of this size we needs experts on every level and position. Stop this utopia that a manager can be in charge of the whole football department. Sir Alex had 26 years to build his empire. At that time the club was running on a smaller scale and without today’s commercial and media influence.

Woodward can continue as a CEO but he needs a right hand to run all football related things. If we call him DoF or something else is irrelevant but the important thing is that his position is not connected to results and the manager.

It seems like we finally has a a long term strategy atm. That’s a huge step forward. Next step is to install a “DoF” who can oversea football related administrations, recruitments and taking long term decisions regarding academy and transfers. Maybe we need a committee with ex players or similar who can help the club to keep traditions and make sure we don’t lose our identity.

Ole Gunnar has the credentials to work along with such s set up without any short term disruptions. If we implement this set up then I think his chances to succeed will increase because with more football people on executive positions then its harder to make knee jerk decisions when results isn’t in his favor.

The biggest fear I have is that politics, egos or personal financial agendas will be a hindrance to make all involved to be on the same page.

On the contrary, posters keep knocking on his door asking him if he's coming out to play
Yep!

I can't even be arsed at this point to address the boring and clueless rhetoric being spun on here at this point.

Don't want to forget to say feck him. Imagine in such situation having Greenwood and Mata as your attacking options to turn the game. Not signing attacking replacement for Lukaku probably gonna cost us the season.

The Supreme Commander Ed knew earlier this year that Lukaku and Sanchez were top of the list to get rid of and that Pogba to Madrid was always going to be a possibility,he did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation, scandalous.
We need to be working with the agents of our 2020 targets now and have deals tied up ahead of time rather than starting negotiations in May next year.

22 players bought by 2 previous managers ( and only 4 of them were in first 11 tonight) and 3 by Ole and we still do not have midfield.

Behave yourself, if we'd won 0-2/0-3 at Wolves last night as we probably should have done would you have posted your comment above #3828, guess that's a no then.
I would have made the comment even before the game,it's an observation of the squad ,which you're obviously happy with,I'm not.

Sad despite having a shit season, and a change of manager half way through, our summer transfer window was honestly appalling, we let more players go then we brang in, so we lose herrera, fellaini, lukkaku, try our best to get rid of rojo and sanchez(despite being miles better than their counterparts ie smalling and jones and lingard)

It just makes no sense , we just seem to be going backwards, no bloody progress is being made in this team at all since SAF retired.

Would be interesting what klopp or Pep could do with our team, im sure theyre the only 2 coaches who could genuinly turn us into title contenders. You can say that both especially pep buy their way to titles, but I bet weve spent more than both teams, and player for player we are shockingly inferior, city have got great value for their signings, and they seem to have a framework in place that has been bearing frution over the past few years, and not an overnight thing.

Whereas our club seems to have zero structure, and has a scattergun approach to appointing the new managers and with signings

The Woody machine is at work again to deflect any criticism from his transfer window failure to sign adequate reinforcements. No probs, our no 1 January target is Jordan Sancho, is anyone surprised that this info is manoeuvred into the media , he is a shill employed by the Glazers, and expect nothing different.

Given the club’s love of living in the past and leeching off past success, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d at least considered it.
SAF's genius made Gill look good, after selling Ronaldo look what was bought, Obertan, Valenica, Owen, Diouf iirc. Gill would be under the same pressure and scrutiny as Woody.

I've got this weird feeling we're going to be signing Llorente or Mandzukic in January, as an emergency signing. We're one injury away from 17yr old Greenwood starting every game and he isn't ready for that type of insane pressure.

Agree on this one. Our greatest mistake back then was to sell Ronaldo and Tevez and not get an adequate replacement, the front 3 we had just evaporated.

On a side note, much of what has been said here was against Woodward, some of the moves/transfer blocks he made are good to the club. We managed to keep Martial despite Mourinho wanting him out, We managed to keep DDG during that "fax incident", we kept Paul Pogba so far (our most valuable and best player), we kept Lindelof despite Mourinho nagging about defenders last season. He may not get all the targets (which is not always his fault as some players just don't want to come here) but really, some decisions he made (as we all saw in papers etc etc) regarding key players should be credited, and of course, to sell Lukaku as such a good price despite being a wanker has to be credited.

I’d be amazed if we didn’t make at least one signing in the January window, it’s not like they need to worry about they would be cup tied for the champions league jibber jabber that has been used as an excuse in the past.
