Why the feck was he booked for ball hitting his shoulder, Jon Moss is truly a moron.

The name of this thread is what he wasnt on that Neves shot. He jumped but made himself smaller than he is, which is surely the exact opposite of why you jump to try and block a shot. You want to make yourself big so its hard for the ball to get past you.

Still despite a couple of things like that, he made 9 tackles, 1 interception and 1 clearance. So despite not doing very well with his "wall" or closing down of Neves, he was still our biggest ball winner and most honest/hard working defender.
Yeh he turned away from the shot, which is criminal, but to be fair it was an absolute worldie so not that big of a criticism

Red Card for Casemiro!
You just can't get past him. His tackling is top notch.

He's also good with the ball under pressure, and isn't afraid to take risks while passing. To think that he is only going to improve from here is crazy. What a player.

Another player who's just at the start of his career. Very solid defensively, had a very inexperienced player in front of him, and Pogba inside, who occasionely loses the ball in very deep positions, so he's a bit wary about steaming up the right wing I would think.

Has he had a poor game for us since debuting? Thought he was really good tonight again and unlucky not to have an assist. Love the guy, long may his form continue!

He was not at fault for that goal at all.

He jumped but ducked his head making himself smaller. That was a mistake, but he is not soley responsible for the goal no. He was just the player who could best have dealt with the situation we had already put ourselves in by giving him too much time on the edge of the box

Love him. He could with gaining a little more confidence when attacking but that will come.

Exceptional one v one, makes a huge difference to the confidence of the CB pairing knowing they will not be constantly dragged out to fight fires out wide. That was just one of our issues last year. A lot to work on in his delivery and attacking play, but his willingness to get forward is there and he seems like someone not afraid of the work necessary. Excellent signing.

He reminds me of what Azpi was in his prime, unreal 1 vs 1.

Another excellent performance, second best player on the pitch after PP. It's so refreshing to see a new guy doing well and look forward to see him play next week, 50m well spent this time. Top 3 RB in the world surely? (Walker, TAA, AWB)

Maguire on the other hand had 9/10 debut but didn't look worth even half of his transfer fee tonight...

If lingard wasn’t as useless as he was then AWB would have walked away with 2 assists today.

That’s insane.

Another good game, I always knew he would add to us defensively and you feel he's going to win his one on one battles every time and get back when we are countered on, but I didn't think in attack he was good enough, so far he's looked pretty good, only one cross tonight but it was a decent one and his link play on the right flank was excellent, he also threaded some decent passes through, he's a tad raw at times but such a dynamic player to watch in a front foot side and I have to admit he's going to prove me wrong, I'm a converted fan so hit me with your best shots those I debated with.

MOTM. Loved that forward pass into Lingard (I think it was) in the second half.

Defensively you might think you've got past him but he just always recovers and gets a foot in. Must be horrible to play against.

Unreal player. Shut down their left wing completely. My favorite player

We all know he's great defensively, but that pass to Lingard was just brilliant.

Another good performance. Wolves created practically nothing from his side of the pitch. Should have had an assist as well.

Its so great to have a player like AWB. The ability to win 1 on 1 is so important and you can almost guarantee that we he will 80% of the time

Yeah that was impressive. He doesn't just cross the ball just for the sake of it. He picks the passes well. I think he created 2 chances to Lingard, should have scored at least the first one.

I'll say it again I was sceptical about him but love him bits now, my favourite RB after Rafael. But his attacking output is pretty mediocre and crossing non existent, he is young so he must improve both if he wants to be the best RB in England, TAA and Walker are pretty good at crossing and if AWB catches up in that aspect he could be the best RB in the world.

Defensively one on one I think he is one of the best full backs I have ever seen. Championed us signing him last summer after just six months at Palace, he does need to work on his attacking balls in the final third but dribbling forward, keeping the ball, its all there, always said I didnt get people slating him being useless going forward. Fantasic value for money signing already in my eyes

One thing I worried about before signing him was his pass accuracy and dribbling but he's showed that he's quite reliable with both aspects. He can really surge forward with pace and that gives us an extra dimension.

Becoming my favourite player, makes defending a joy to watch too.

I do tend to agree but yesterday he played a great cross that Lingard totally fluffed and played a lovely pass to Lingard in the box that Boly just managed to toe away.

Barring a serious injury, we now have a RB for years to come. Never seen a 21 y/o fullback being that incredible at defending as he is
Cool head on him as well. I'm honestly over the moon about this signing.

Can't understand some of the negativity here. AWB is a superb player and will only continue to get better.

Agreed he didn't get many crosses in, but he was often in the final third playing triangles with Pogba, James and Linguard trying to make things happens.

This boy will be very good.

It's actually incredible how quickly he acclimatised to our team. From the first minute he played in pre-season was performing very well and he's still keeping it up now. I'm just used to having to give players a bit of time to get used to playing for us, but AWB has made an instant impact. He'll be our signing of the season.

I can't believe I was preferring buying Meunier at one point
