And that's that, our first defeat of the season and a massively frustrating one at Old Trafford. Two sucker-punch goals did us in. The first after 32 minutes from Jordan Ayew and then the second from Patrick van Aanholt deep into injury time as we chased a winner. We looked to have rescued at least a point when Daniel James scored a beautifully finished goal late on but there was even more late drama to follow.

We utterly dominated possession and shots on goal, but from more than 20 efforts we only had two on target. And to make matters worse the penalty debate will rage on after Marcus Rashford missed a penalty midway through the second-half.

It feels like a familiar story, a visiting team coming to Old Trafford defending in numbers and we struggle to break them down, getting hit by sucker punch break away goals. It will continue to be a big question mark hanging over this team.

We've now only won 3 of our last 15 games since we beat PSG in Paris :nervous:

Diabolical.

Ole seems completely clueless in dealing with defensive teams. Our set pieces are still school yard stuff, with no organisation or intent.

The team dominated possession but it was reminiscent of LVG, slow movement, slow passing, not clinical in the final third. Looks like the players are instructed to just go out and enjoy themselves, which would be OK if they were coached properly during the week, but there seems scant evidence of that.

The ref was inexcusable. Missed a red card on Cahill, which would have changed the course of game. Missed a clear pen when Martial got through. Booked James for simulation, when he was fouled. Second game running he is wrongfully booked for simulation. Paul Tierney should not officiate again.

We’re cursed I think it’s pretty obvious.

Bizarre shit seems to happen at OT these days.

Didn't watch it all but it looks like we were rubbish in front of goal.

Losing to Palace at home, ffs!

Penalty not given, sun was in Rashfords eyes when he hit the post, and a rare DDG error.

What did we expect? Signed no notable attacking players, when our attack was already so poor.

Vintage United performance. No creativity, lacked any urgency, no clue how to put together an attack & no tactical awareness.

The one time we put together quick passes, we scored. It’s not hard. We just lack the creativity & quality in attack.

Another De Gea mistake. I’m a massive fan of his, but these are becoming too regular now.

Hopefully Martial’s not a serious injury otherwise we’re fecked. Makes the decision not to replace Lukaku even worse.

Absolute joke. The performance, the selection, the referee. The whole thing was a farce

Maybe the Greenwood people will quiet down now. Absolutely invisible outside the pass that setup the penalty

Freak game. Should have won comfortably. Finally ready for a late surge and Martial gets injured while standing still. 1/10 game from Rashford today.

Anyone who expressed concern after the Chelsea game and got told to be quiet, are they justified now?

Same old problems, a totally imbalanced squad full of average deliver average performances. Not surprising.

Any positivity I might've had for this season has been completely destroyed by that performance, utter shite.

Well aren't we lucky to have De Gea? Pretty sure someone is still gonna come and say how he's one of our world class players.

We were shit.

Lindelof needs to be dropped, we should give Tuanzebe or Smalling a run with Maguire.
I can accept a player not being great in the air, but there’s no way we should accept a player giving a header so softly knowing there’s no one behind him, foul him ffs, the guy looks like he cares about his fouls stats more than preventing a goal.

Lingard hasn’t scored a goal in what, half a year? probably well over that, that’s Man United’s starting no.10 for you.
We can’t possibly be playing a defensive no.10 week in week out, absolutely nothing player, might as well play Fred in there.

De Gea had a horrific game too.

De Gea seems already passed it... Can't even rely on him these days.
James goal was superb. That's the only positive of the match.

We haven't really resolved our lack of killer instinct in the final third issue since Fergie left. We seem completely devoid of ideas near oppo boxes.

Our inability to take penalties has cost us 5 points in two games. That first half was utter shit

No defending that performance really. So, so slow and lacking in ideas creatively. Could still have won, which I'm sure Ole will be clinging to in the post-match interview, but it was dire to watch for most of the match and you can't begrudge Palace their win.

And just like that any optimism for the season has disappeared.

What is the point of Lindelof if he cannot defend?

What is the point of De Gea if he cannot stop shots now?

What is the point of VAR if it's not gonna be used for clear and obvious decisions?

Zero creative or invention in the final 3rd. Draw would have been fair probably.
Ref was absolutely atrotious, but united were more so.

Horrible game. we really need Pogba further forward, there is no creativity without him.

Also Play Fred deeper, start with Gomes or mata. Do anything but for the love of god drop Lingard.
