He could score 20 in the PL if he were given no responsibility to defend. If you watch him in MLS, he doesn’t have to do anything but score. He has no pressing responsibility, more does he even try to run when his team isn’t on the ball. That is really what this league is at the moment. It’s not terrible, but it’s nowhere near a high level.

He looked like a lower league player in 2017-18 when he was sold to MLS.

Would anyone have him back as a squad player?

I know it's not going to happen but imagine him coming back as the club captain and leader for our younger lads. I think he could still do a job against some of the mid to lower table teams.

He was wasteful at times here but he'd never played in PL league before and maybe was not fully prepared for the speed of the game.

Still, 27 goals and missed a big chunk. He also bailed us out against Southampton who played us off the park.

He seemed to link well with Pogba. The amount of times Pogba put him through on goal was astounding.

Bollocking about fluently.
He's one of the greats of this era no questions asked. He doesn't need anyone else telling himself that though - he knows - and in fact I picture him standing in front of the mirror each morning after waking up brushing his teeth telling himself exactly that. "Fan vad grym jag är... Ät skit jäklar!" And he's allowed to as well - because he still proves it on a regular basis even at 38 - despite recovering from an injury that for most would be career-wrecking.

Only an idiot would even compare Zlatan to Vela. Which decent player at their prime would play in MLS if they were good enough to play for a top team in Europe?
Carlos Vela is a player that rejected a move to Atletico Madrid, decided to skip on playing the Olympics (which Mexico won) and the World Cup in 2014. He's said many times that he doesn't care about football beyond playing, and would rather do anything (specially watching basketball) over having to watch a football match.
And ATM he is the better player. He has 21 goals and 12 assists in 22 matches while playing on the right, come on.

Probably should have stayed another season but would be pointless coming back now. Exceptional player and a freak of nature but MLS is the right place for him now.

Just like Quagliarella is better than Ronaldo because he had 5 goals more, right?

That's actually a good comparsion, but not for your argument. Quagliarella is THE target man for his team, as is Zlatan for LA Galaxy. Juve and LAFC have distributed their goals way more.

I was going to laugh at the tweet referring to the child as a 'mascot' but apparently that is their name. Christ.

The year he made like 10 appearances in the back of destroying his knee?
Remember when it happened and he literally just walked off the field when most players would be writhing on the floor before being stretchered off. Definition of a soldier mentality.

Less than 2 minutes in and Ibra has put the Galaxy up 1-0.

Edit: That puts him at 21 goals in 22 games this season. He's 37.

That hand-rising celebration of Ibra fits him so well. Like a God, just as he proclaimed.
When Lukaku did the same thing after scoring for us, it looked so cringe-worthy...

How close do you guys think he will get to scoring his age by the end of the season?

Currently at 22 in 22. There's 34 games in an MLS season and we are on matchday 28 for LA Galaxy.

Funny thing is I reckon his finishing looks better there than when it was with us (despite the number of goals he got for us in the first season). Some of the ones there like the first one was just placed right into the corner where no GK would save it. Whereas for us it seemed like he missed a few good sitters.

The pressure is not as high as playing in premier league, let alone for United when you can feck up. You have less time and space in the premier league. How many times Lukaku broke through the last man and yet failed to score?

MLS is just an easy league for players like him.

Great player. We just signed him too late in his career and then sad he injured his knee in the Europa league. I think he would have done better in his second season.

Legend of the game to come back from a injury like he did at his age. Yeah sure it’s MLS but past world class players like Gerrard looked average there.

Ibra's skill has never left him, and his game was never really dependant on being fast or super quick. All that translate in being able to dominate a league like MLS where he still has the physicality and his technique is miles above the average MLS defender.

If he didn't trash his knee, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still at United, being able to contribute from the bench while providng the locker room leadership we sorely lack.
