I'd rather him stay than Young, but we know Young has an extended contract so theres no point keeping someone that old who never plays.

Dalot and Darmian would be fine for me. One better attacker one better defender for specific matches

Amazing how players become better the less they play, he's not been playing for a reason.

Barely plays for two seasons and people have convinced themselves he's actually a good defender. He isn't he's an average defender at his best and a liability most of the time, he's atrocious going forward (on the rare occasions he actually makes an effort to get forward).

Should be one of the first out the door for any price we can get for him come June. 4 transfer windows have come and gone with he club fecking about holding out for a decent price for him when it's obvious no one is willing to pay anything like decent money for him, and why would they he isn't a very good player. He hasn't been in Mourinho's plans and he certainly isn't in Solskjaers plans. So all we have done is waste money paying him the last 2 years. He should have been sold in 2017 for £5-10m when there was interest in Italy.

I agree that it's not really Darmian's fault or relevant. But it kind of shows how inefficient the club is run right now. Darmian costs £3m a year in wages, plus say £2m in transfer fee, to play 5 games a season. That can't be right. My point is that we can pay that huge amoutn for very little of Darmian's services, but can't pay our low paid staff a little more.
Well firstly the article that you sent me says that we don't in fact pay anyone the minimum wage, but we pay the Voluntary Living Wage.

Secondly paying Darmian shows nothing about the club being run inefficiently. Every club has squad players that hardly ever feature and such players are always paid in footballer level salaries rather then bartender level. It's the nature of the business. Maybe if you directed this at Sanchez it would have made more sense than one of our lowest paid squad players.

Thirdly, the issue of what constitutes acceptable salaries for unskilled/low-skill workers by companies is one that is bigger than our club. It's a societal and political discussion we need to have. I get behind it, I do, but it has nothing to do specifically with our club or Darmian. As the article says, we pay what all premier league clubs have agreed to pay.

All in all, I have no fecking idea what you're trying to get out of bringing this up here.

May leave before European transfer deadline

Matteo Darmian may leave Manchester United in the coming days with the club likely to offload a defender before Monday's European transfer deadline.

United have received an inquiry from an unnamed club for the 29-year-old, who arrived from Torino for £12.7m in 2015.

At least that's one player I don't care about him leaving. He plays about 5 games a season or so now. Young and Dalot are covers on both right and left back, so he's useless.

Like Smalling I'm sure there are players we'd all rather pick to leave before Darmian but hey if we can get some money now rather than him go for free then lets do it

Like with Smalling, I wish Darmian all the best. Unfortunately his move to us wasn't successful as much as we expected but like Smalling he is a model.pro

Darmian plays so few games for us we may as well let him leave. In the event of the 1-in-1000 chance we actually need to play him we should play a youth player instead. We have several promising youth full-backs in U-23s (Williams, O'Conner, Laird). The benefit of keeping him to cover injuries to other players does not match the cost of his ample wages.

Such as who? Darmian is about as useless as they come.

Darmian is old and doesn’t make the squad, same as Smalling. Only one verdict - ship out ASAP. Marcos Rojo needs to be shipped as well

Nah he's a good pro who covers a variety of different positions. I'd personally rather keep him than someone like Rojo albeit endgame is to get rid of them all

Yeah and he's equally poor in them all.

Never got going. Never been a problem.
Wish him the best..

He probably should go and get some games, because he wont be getting any here.

That's the thing, we don't need shite cover for any position, if it comes from a 29 year old player. He either can perform at Man Utd level or should be gone. Shite cover (or better even, in fact) we can always get from our youth team players, this is not an issue.

If he'll stay, are you excited enough for another 6 breathtaking appearances in whole season from one of the most basic footballers ever ?

I'm on edge of my seat.

Great. Been a good professional, so I’m glad he’s found a move. Best for all parties if he goes.

Never once complained and played whenever needed but unfortunately Darmian is simply nowhere near an acceptable level to play for United, I don’t think he’d get in a top half of the table team in the league at all.

I’d much rather see Laird, O’Connor and Williams given the minutes in the Europa League or League Cup games to further their development although I do believe we should bring in a left back to challenge Shaw next summer unless Williams makes that spot his own.

He's a solid player. Never had an issue with him at all. Mistreated by us really. Spent years here wasting his career.

Should have loaned him out 2 years ago.

He's going nowhere.

I've convinced myself that Darmian isn't actually a player anymore. I think he's transcended to a higher plane, and now represents an ethos, a belief system or a spiritual entity of some kind. He's no longer a human being, or a footballer - he's all around us and always will be.

Average player, no pace, no crossing, no passing, he has only a decent stamina, and a decent tackle

Could he be the curse on our club in the last couple of years? If he was signed in 2013 instead of 2015 I'd say so.

Really I think that’s one of his big weaknesses. (Come to think of it does he actually have strengths?) Most games he’s sucking wind by 60 minutes in.

He’s not going. This will fall through like all the other bids

No idea why we kept him this long. the club state no one has meet their evaluation of him despite bids for him yet he never Makes match game squads

He's also a monumental pussy, he cries after every physical challenge and asks to be subbed off. He's also total shit when he's man enough to actually stand on the pitch.

It's about time he fecked off. Consummate pro my ass, he's been happy to sit and collect his paycheque. If he wanted to leave then he'd have forced a move like several other players have who were far more important players. He hasn't left because he hasnt wanted to.

I do keep reading in here thats he's a good professional and never complains, but then i suppose thats the only good things people can really say about him. Also keep hearing that he can play several positions which is admirable but then so can i, in fact i can play in 11 positions and i'm shit in them all too.

They want him for free, and he needs to lower his wages, too

I hope Ole is going to play specialised players when the injuries kick in, rather than experienced players in the wrong positions. Laird and co should get a fair amount of game time if so. I hope they're able to cope.

At least he didnt moan or post/did some stupid stuff during his time here. He was always quiet and respectful, and if called upon did a semi decent job. Time to play now i guess :D

If reports are to be believed, we could have sold him for nearly ten times that if we weren't haggling over a couple million. What a great decision.
Yeah but looks like making stupid decisions in the market is over.
