Didn't he sign a new contract for bug wages not so long ago? It could be another Sanchez like situation if we want to get rid.
You are confusing him with Rashy. Lingard hasn’t signed his new contract yet because he is holding out for more.

He’s better at defending than attacking, due to his high work rate and lack of creativity.

Why we play him against parked buses us beyond me.

I know I am just a lowly fan, but I would really like to see Mourinho, Southgate, or Ole explain what they see in him. Me, I just see a useless player, and with him on the team we are less likely to score.

Seems to have read the stats online this week, was trying to pepper the goal desperate for a score... he clearly forgot that he’s just a terrible, terrible footballer.

Makes me laugh that he’s in that England squad haha... Southgate on crack.

0/10 every time

It was like he’d spent all week reading stuff about himself on social media and would focus purely on proving them
wrong by scoring a goal..
Honestly, this is probably exactly what happened and he will probably continue to be like this to prove his "haters" wrong.

His fanboys love to talk about his intelligent runs, it's a shame his intrelligence seems to disappear when he's on the ball, trying to be Roy of the Rovers.

It’s ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ mentality. People repeating things because they think they must be missing something that snowballs into ‘fact’. But in the spotlight/scrutiny of having the ball, his mediocrity is laid bare.

Man he really is thick as hell isnt he?

From the moment he stepped onto the pitch you could see he’s been losing sleep over the media shitstorm over him.

Lost his head in critical decisions and made ridiculous shots.

He’s just so typical of our average player right now. No body seems to have any form of intelligence

Good point, I used to defend him as a squad player but I'm starting to wonder if I've had the wool pulled over my eyes with Lingard in general.

The fact that Ole puts him in when we are chasing the game makes me think Ole just has no clue and we are doomed to failure with him at the helm.

I was pretty chill throughout the game as I've kind of accepted what this season is going to be, but this moment got an expletive burst out of me, utterly brainless.
Pogba on his close left, Mason on the right but Lingard wants to be selfish and a hero

Reverse ball to Pogba, or the easy option out to Mason which opens things up in the middle. Instead he kicks it against the man right in front of him.
That'd be expecting too much from him. I really thought he was gonna pass it to Mason

Ole will be his own downfall. Stop this scapegoat nonsense. He didn't even start.
I'm not scapegoating him. It's true he isn't good enough and if Ole puts faith on him to come good then God save him.

Doesn't matter if Lingard plays or not. Ole's potential failure or success does not rest on Jesse fecking Lingard.

Look at the adverts for United on by sport, lingard is in them and he emphasises everything that is wrong with us. Average and overpaid.
My little boy got his monthly football magazine the other day and in it were some free stickers with 9 players on...Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Kane, Salah, Hazard, Aguero, Mbappe and...

...Lingard ffs! I just don’t get why he’s placed alongside these top players because he has a wanky social media presence. Average as feck.

Well if he's a starter then it does. If he's a ball boy then not much. Let me put it this way, Ole's downfall will be due to choosing players like Lingard.

What are these other players like Lingard? If Angel plays and has a stinker what is the narrative then?

No, it really doesn’t. There are other players out there and beyond that you have Ole’s tactics and setup.
Of course, but persisting with a player who is not delivering the goods for you is going to also cost you.

I get Ole is desperately trying to not shatter the guys confidence by sticking by him, but this cameo has to be the final straw for him starting/being first attacking sub. He has been simply awful in all of the last 3 games. Times up pal, way down the pecking order now.

Just like how people cried about Andreas not playing last season instead of Matic. He didn’t even start today and it was 1-1 when he came on. Lingard is being made a scapegoat when in honesty the team is no better without him.

Andreas is even worse than Lingard. At least Lingard had periods of good form. Andreas has shown nothing EVER at Manchester United.

He's literally a nothing player. Championship player IMO.

Currently it's just lingard. One other player in his category got shipped out. Lingard is our only attacker who's supposedly at his prime years and plays shit. All others are much younger than him.

If Angel has a bad day we could atleast take solace that we are trying to blood a youngster.

I don't rate Andreas either but last season there was certainly a narrative that he should be playing. Like I said, if you take Lingard out the team nothing will change.

You can take all the solace you want. If the team dont play any better without Lingard, how is it still Lingard’s fault?

How can you absolve him of everything?
I am not absolving him. You take him out the team and we are no better. How can people therefore say if Ole fails it is because he plays Lingard? Lingard or no Lingard Ole is failing.

If the team performs the same with and without him then what's the point of playing him? Again he's supposed to be the oldest starting attacking player and thus fathers much more blame. Players like Rashford and James are much much younger and we can hope they become better. Not this guy though.

Maybe because it's a team game? The team has to work as a unit, so why are we blaming one player if Ole fails? Lingard went on a run of form very few in this squad can match. Yet he is the scapegoat? What about the rest of them? What about the manager?

People can have their opinion on Lingard. Making him a scapegoat for Ole's failures is out of order.

@haram always gives me a laugh. His posts are some of the most clueless on here. That, and the fact he acts as Lingards gatekeeper make for amusing reading.

Is there a way to look at MUFC goals per 90 when Lingard is on the pitch versus when he isn’t on the pitch? I noticed during preseason we played better football and seemed to score most goals in the halves when Lingard wasn’t playing.

I honestly think he’ll be gone in a couple of seasons, surely it’s obvious to most that he’s not what we need if we want to get back to challenging.

He did well under Mourinho but he’s never really kicked on which is disappointing.
Bro he will retire in a couple of seasons haha

The narrative is 'feck this season, I'm blooding the youngsters in so that we can have a competitive team in two years'. That'd save his bacon compared to just going with the old boys and getting sixth. There's no long-term planning involved in persisting with Lingard and Mata. Plus the fans would be much more excited and on board if they saw Greenwood, Garner and Gomes (+ Chong) get sixth than Lingard, Mata and Matic.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
That was an incredibly brainless performance from him today. He should be reprimanded for it, in fact. He squandered countless positive situations due to a clear personal gameplan. The IQ and decision making of some of our players is just incredibly bad. I genuinely think i could have done a better job than Lingard if I were in his shoes today.
