What is that VAR decision seriously  can’t believe they went all the way back to somebody being accidentally tripped up. Ridiculous.
Are you new to portuguese football? There’s a bonkers never seen before ref decision every week.

I’ll admit that the ref calling a freekick, going to VAR, calling a penalty, going to VAR again and then deciding to not call a penalty is actually pretty special though

It’s almost as stunning at the Fiorentina one against SPAL(I think) last season

Deserved win yesterday for Porto. It was the worst game of Lage's era by a mile and one of the worst I've seen us play at home in my entire life. It was a much needed wake up call. Lets see if we can still go to the market and get the 2 or 3 quality players we ddesperately need.

Ok finally home so here we go.

Great win by Sporting in a game we needed to win after Porto beat Benfica and it helps Braga lost points again.

The team came out firing on all cylinders and got two quick goals but then dropped the tempo a bit. We created a lot more chances and probably could of had 1 or 2 more goals. All in all easily our best game of the season.

Bruno doing Bruno things and making the difference BUT to me the standout player was Luciano Vietto. Pure quality tonight, he showed so much ability and his passing was superb as well as his ability to create space off of some tidy dribbling. He started on the left (stupid) but he quickly moved to the middle and began to shine. If Keizer plays him down the middle he has all the makings to "explode" the kid has quality no doubt.

Wendel was poor his positional sense on the field is just terrible and Doumbia was horrible yet again.

Good job by Raphinha though he should have got himself a hat trick. I was also disappointed Gonzalo Plata was not given minutes because that kid has some exciting potential.

All in all I enjoyed my trip to Portimao and the stadium was very nice as well.

Luciano Vietto Performance:

I would love for Vitória to win this game vs Steaua because of there delusional owner.

He must of got his words mixed up because Vitória would champions in Romania while Steaua would be relegation candidates in Portugal.

Speaking of Vitoria they are making a fantastic squad. They are allegedly adding Leo Bonatini. Lucas Evangelista, and Alan Halilovic. Would love for them to get competitive because they have fantastic fans fit for a Big club.

Won't watch another game of football in Portugal while referees can get away with purposefully changing the outcome of the game without punishment.

With VAR there are no excuses, they see it, everyone sees it. They get it wrong, then they shouldn't referee a game ever again. Become slightly competent or find another profession.

50/50? Doesn't even touch him

No VAR check, nothing. At 2-1 he gives that penalty in the 85th minute to make it 2-2... how in the feck is that possible? Seriously, it's unbelievable the amount of incompetency necessary for that game to happen. So unbelievable you'd have to be a complete moron to believe professional referees that are unbiased were in that VAR room.

And there was a penalty on Raphinha not called too in the first half. The most blatant penalty of the whole game.

Could have seen it coming from a mile away too, every single time we are first or get closer to the top, there's a game like this that happens the follwoing week.

I was watching at a bar and some angles seemed to show a small touch. Either way, I don't think it was a clear mistake, so VAR is supposed to stay quiet.

Just watched it again at home, he pushes his shirt a bit, I'd be angry at Coates, not the ref.

Pushes his shirt? You have to be joking.

He literally touched his shirt slightly with his hand, doesnt even pull it at all. It's one of the most blatant dives you'll ever see. Reading everywhere in the media criticism to the refs even by rival fans who are disgusted at it and you tell me that's a penalty????

Mad at Coates? For defending? He doesn't even slightly foul him. It's a complete disgrace of a decision.

Other penalties aren't blatant at all either, especially the first. The one blatant penalty in the game came for us. Again, no VAR review at all.

And this happens one week after the hilarious VAR decisions last week in Portimão.

I don't think it was a penalty but Coates makes a movement and slightly pulls his shirt, which probably fooled the ref. I keep hearing the VAR is only supposed to intervene when it's an obvious mistake and I can understand how in this case they didn't consider it was. But again, I don't think it was a penalty.

You can't tell me this after the way they took our penalty away last week. You can't just use VAR however you want it from week to week depending on how much it fecks us over.

Sure, it's supposedly meant to only fix blatantly obvious mistakes. That's not how it's been used so far though.

My problem isn't with the ref btw. I understand that the shirt movement might have fooled him, that can happen. But with VAR there are no excuses to not correct those mistakes.

And I thought the refs in Scotland were bad

Can someone tell me what the interviewer was asking Bruno at the end? He clearly wasn’t happy and stormed off

That's fair, they have been using VAR way too much in situations they shouldn't, so they could've used it today too.

The second penalty was not a penalty at all but you know what! Feck that! I won’t give Keizer that excuse.

He is undoubtably one of the worst coaches I can remember at Sporting and that says a lot. He makes Peseiro look like Guardiola.

All game there was no pressing Rio ave had all the time in the world on the ball. ZERO pressing ZERO attacking play and ZERO defense. As always his first sub of the game is in 78th Minute!! And what does he do? He puts Borja on.... when it was obvious we needed a change up front and a player to run at defenders, then only when we start losing 3-2 in the 90th minute Does he decide its time to make his SECOND sub and his only attacking sub of the game. He puts an 18 year old kid to bury him under boos from the fans in a game that was not his fault. Unacceptable and fecking disgraceful.

I just read a stat, under Keizer sporting have conceded 2.2 goals per game. Unbelievable.

This president needs to have some balls and not let Keizer leave Alvalade without being sacked first! The worst part is this president is even stupider then this supposed coach

He was saying that it is incredible how easy it is to give calls against Sporting and that Portuguese football will never move forward like this.

I went into the stadium for the first time this season. It was utterly ridiculous to watch the movements of the team.

It was so fecking bad that I will not even comment Coates or the second penalty, looking in the stadium the first and third looked quite obvious to me.

On the first half Rio Ave had always the same movement, after a couple of passes between their midfield, they made a pass between Thierry and Coates and it was a disaster waiting to happen.

This coach has to be sacked this weekend, I am not lying if I say we are the worst team of the league regarding our defensive organisation and transition. Atrocious.

The only 2 players with class are Mathieu and Fernandes, but my god, if Carvalhal was our manager today they would win this 3:0.

As usual it is easy to give 3 penalties against us, but our football department is a fecking joke. You just need to compare their mental attitude with the futsal guys, or even handball/roller hockey.

I want the guy sacked because it’s unacceptable that I am looking into the pitch and while Carvalhal was making substitutions our inept coach was with his hands in the pocket doing nothing.

Feck this shit, and sell this club to financial crooks and gangsters, at least sell the football side to private investors.

Even criminals would be more competent than this inept Lisbon elite who has ruled the club during decades.

No more football in the stadium, rather watch handball/ futsal or our under 23.

Congratulations to Carvalhal, feck the referee, and by the way that guy they signed from Iran would be useful for us. Nothing more to say really.

You said it all my friend you said it all!

I was at the stadium as well and I could not believe how every game he waits until the 80th minute to make subs AND he does not even use all of his subs. Sporting at home vs Rio Ave and we sub on...Borja? Unbelievable. Carvalhal did a fantastic job and I won't even use the penalties as an excuse. Rio Ave looked like the home team, Sporting would not press them at all. Rio Ave had more possession, More passes, More completed passes and more importantly more goals. Nothing left to say.

Side note: Matheus doing fantastic at WBA when it is obvious he needed to stay. The people who run this club are a joke.

My last game of the summer as I will be leaving again and I am beyond disappointed.

Yeah I went with the kid and returned home completely destroyed. You’re going back to the States? If so good luck and don’t waste your energy with this idiots.

The only good thing today was that the majority of the stadium was really pissed with the way the coach only made his first sub with 10/15 minutes to play.

I hope Varandas isn’t afraid to do the right thing. If not he has to be sacked too.

Ya I will be heading back to the states on the 5th so it is a shitty way to leave:mad:

Varandas is playing a risky game because if he refuses to sack Keizer because of his stubbornness he could be the next one the fans run out the club.

Plata coming on the 90th minute is a joke not just to the player but to the fans. As we already know this team without Bruno is at best a 5th place team.

Now I only hope tomorrow Vitoria and Braga could help make up for the absolute disgrace I saw today.

Also I think the players have given up on Keizer as well.

Dude give up...You said Wolves would be second in Italy...

Sporting being bad has to do with the joke of Coach we have named Keizer.

Crystal Palace would not challenge for a title in Portugal.

Awfull game from Coates, that penalty its a penalty. It's not pulling the shirt. Coates hits the forward with his knee on the left leg making him trip and, of course, the player just drops to get the penalty.

40 seconds into the game, shoulder to shoulder challenge, another defender right next to Tapsoba and the ref gives a STRAIGHT RED??! Daylight robbery that.

The refs in Portugal are a joke. We are easily the second most corrupt league in all of Europe after Greece!

Red card to Guimarães in the first minute in Porto for absolutely no reason at all as there was another defender there.

VAR does absolutely nothing despite it being a clear and obvious mistake. Again.

This league is a complete fecking joke. The points table does not in any way tell you who the better team is. Refs manufacture results every single week even with VAR.

This league is a joke. Porto have 90 minutes to play with an extra man. We all know this game is basically over now.

Piece of shit refs and league.

Must be top 3 with Portugal and Greece then because I have never seen anything like what happens in the Portuguese league. It is shocking.

No shoulder to shoulder. Pushes him from from behind with is right arm. The only thing to discuss its Marega is isolated or not. The other Guimaraes defender doesnt look that behind to not be able to discuss the ball
