Current Team:

Ryan
Robertson Zinchenko Christensen Lundstrom
Salah Sterling KDB Cantwell
Abraham Kane
Subs: Dendoncker, Greenwood, Rico

1 Free Sub, 0.2 in the bank

Obviously I need to replace Christensen, Chelsea are woeful at the back - best 5.2 option? Not happy with my defence in general really.
Any other changes to make?

There's no decent defenders at that price point imo. I've been looking for one to replace KWP (plus £0.3m I have in the bank).

All the good ones start at £5.5m+

I liked the look of Boly at £5m until his red. Soyunco is good value at £4.5m and Leicester have a decent run of fixtures coming up after the next 2. Mings is a bit of a bonus magnet and at £4.5m he might be worth a look too.

Actually starting to look at Arsenal defenders too. Sokratis and Naitland Miles both doable. Good fixtures. Sokratis probably more nailed long term with Bellerin due to return soon.

Cheers mate, yeah had considered Mings a while back due to Villa's decent run of form might go that way. If I could decide who was nailed in Arsenal's defence I'd consider them but seems to be too many options IMO

Considering my first hit of the season.

How does KWP & Kane > TAA & Vardy look?

Worried that Kane will outscore Vardy in the next 2 though if not long term. TAA in for KWP is a no brainer but I need to remove someone else first. Other option is Martial to anyone £5.9m or less but I want to keep him for the season tbh assuming his injury isn't too serious.

You would think Kane to outscore Vardy over next 2 fixtures, but Vardy is a mad man against the top 6. I'd keep an eye on his price if it looks like a rise maybe go for it.

Yeah I think I'll hold on that one too. Definitely want some Leicester attack after the next two though.

A lot of fantasy football is about managing "risk".
(I say having ignored Aguero at home to chumps last week!)

But if you take Kane out at home to Palace, you are risking it big time.
Though obviously i'll keep him in and he'll score a 2 pointer.

Martial is dropping tonight according to FPL Statistics.
Surely because of kneejerkers, unless there's been news about his injury?

Keep an eye out on Everton. A lot of us took out Siggy but he's starting to get back on form by the sounds of it. Iwobi too at 5.9m is a good option, if he scores in GW5 I'd be tempted to bring him in.

Yeah I'm watching him. Could be a bargain if he nails down that spot on the left.

In other news - first blank of the season is confirmed for GW18 - Liverpool vs West Ham

From FFS

"Confirmation of the first Blank Gameweek of the season came on Wednesday morning.

West Ham United v Liverpool in Gameweek 18 has been postponed due to the Reds’ participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Seen something on the sky sports app that said there are unlimited transfers until the season resumes. That's bullshit right?

Edit. Think it's the sky version actually. My mistake

Any good shouts for a 5.4 defender who is not Pool, City, Spurs?

current wildcard squad
Adrian
TAA-Digne-Otamendi-Lundstrom-Vertonghen
Salah-KDB-Son-James-Cantwell
Aguero-Greenwood-Nketiah

Not convinced by Spurs defence yet, so Vertonghen (5.3) is the placeholder I wants to replace. I need someone with a good 2-3 fixtures in a row who could give about 10-14 points, but they're damn hard to find

Tarkowski (5.0)? Burnley's next 4 fixtures are BHA (A), NOR (H), AVL (A), EVE (H).

Could be worth a gander.

McGinn or Mount?
When people ask 'X' or 'Y', I say it's not as clear as that. Mount is more expensive, takes set pieces and Chelsea have a kinder run of fixtures after Wolves and Liverpool. If you have McGinn, it could free up funds for you to strengthen elsewhere. I'd suggest you putting your full squad up and how much you have in the bank so we can give you a proper answer.

Can't wait for Bellerin and Tierney to come back, not only as a fan but also because I can see them being great FPL-wise. Emery's attacking system is heavily oriented around wingbacks and cutbacks. Bellerin was one of the leading assisters in defence before getting injured and Kolasinac would have gotten way more with sharper passing, something which Tierney can bring.

If you insist!

Patricio (Steklenberg)

Pieters - Maguire - Lundstram - Van Arnholt (Keane)

Madisson - Salah - KDB - Sterling - McGinn

Pukki-Barnes (Greenwood)
0.8m in the bank

Swapping McGinn for Mount would use up that 0.8m but McGinn hasn't been getting the points I was expecting him to. And Mount's looking threatening.

Option 2. I don't think we're getting any clean sheets and I don't see AWB making assists any time soon. Plus I think Mount looks really good. And James is clearly having a bit of a run.

Is it worth having both Zinchenko and Pukki in the starting XI this week ? Either City keep a clean sheet and Pukki blanks, or Pukki/Norwich score and Zinchenko loses clean sheet. I fancy Norwich to score 1 so might take Zinchenko out for Lundstram who has Southampton at home.

Alright here's what my Wildcard is at currently. My strategy is to have 11 players who all have decent fixtures every week.

Adrian
TAA - Otamendi - Digne - Lundstram - Pieters
Salah - Son - KDB - James - Cantwell
Greenwood - Ayew - Aguero

Bolded is the core of 8 who always plays the next 5-6 weeks, then I'll rotate between the 3 others and have something like
GW5: Lundstram (SOT ) + Pieters (bha)
GW6: Ayew (WOL) + Cantwell/Pieters (bur/NOR)
GW7: Ayew (NOR) + Cantwell (cry) <- Here Digne has MCI, so I might switch out Pieters or split an expensive non-performer into two players
GW8: Ayew (wha) + Cantwell (AVL)
GW9: Salah will be gone for 5 weeks here, so change of strategy
